Honestly, i kinda wish there was a downtown casino.

I don't like the location of the Montreal casino because basically I'm too lazy to go out of my way to get there. Take a $20 taxi ride and then another $20 to return; and I haven't even gambled yet.

Plus, the security guards still ask me for my ID...like wtf..lol

You’re right it’s the worst place to gamble in Canada, they don’t even bother to care for their customers.
It’s very easy to understand why this place is a absolute shit hole, it’s simply because it’s badly run by our righteous government.
Location is terrible, games are too expensive, customer service is inexistant, food quality is questionable and beverages are pricy
I honestly suggest people and gamblers to boycott this place, I’ve been living and playing poker in Alberta for a little while now, here the casinos are owned like any other business so they compete against each others and that benefits the players big time.

I agree. Even in Calgary, it's done correctly there. They got their casinos exactly in downtown and there's more than one casino in Calgary!

I’ve been to the Montreal Casino about 8-10x. True, the taxi or Uber ride there is painful. I have t been since about 2017, but I remember waiting in traffic in a cab forever. And when getting out of cab it seemed the temperature was 10 degrees colder than where I got in at the Marriott Chateau.

Not being able to drink at a table is just silly. Nevertheless, “hitting the casino” is my go to excuse at border security, especially for one night trips from NYC/NNJ

it's operated like a cash cow;

drain local$$$

nothing more.

everywhere else , it would be focused as a tourist attraction.

in Montreal, they can't be bothered to build a Hotel (adjacent),

that would make it "International".

the F1 week-ends alone would have paid off the building expense,

had they decided (or moved) 20 years ago.

That happened to me also. I got stuck in traffic trying to go to the casino.

Also, i agree on your next point. Yes, the Montreal Casino should allow drinking at the card table like how Vegas does it.

I think the management at the Montreal Casino needs to take a trip to Vegas and see how they do it, imo.

I never understood why card counting in BJ is illegal? I've always looked at it as a skill set, no?

I don t encourage anyone to gamble but if you go back its been five year now that you can order alcoholic beverages at tables and slot machines.

The table minimums are too high. The alcoholic drinks you have to pay for and the rake in the poker room is too high. Lower the minimums, give out free complimentary alcohol instead. If you play poker...go to the Playground instead. The rake is similar but you get free drinks and food while you play. The waitresses at the Playground are HOT, ooh la la

Ya agreed. In Vegas, they got $5 and $10 blackjack card tables whereas Montreal Casino has $20 minimum!

Ridiculous!

If I was the manager of MTL Casino, I would have $5 &10 card tables for all card games...poker..blackjack, war, etc...

Plus...i would have a restaurant on the main floor (thats how Vegas does it)

I'm not a fan that they put the restaurants on the top floor and even the restaurant choices are uninspired & limited.

Any advantage play tactic(s) will be looked upon as “illegal” with a casino. If you are able to find a way to turn the math back against the establishment you are going to end up as their public enemy number one. Plus also I wouldn’t touch blackjack nowadays because the casinos warped the payout from 3:2 to 6:5 when you hit 21. W.T.F

Card counting by itself is not illegal, if the casino suspects that you are a card counter they will just ban you from playing.
At the casino of mtl, they usually dont ban you from playing.

They will tell you that the first amount you put on the table, it s the same amount you stick all the shoe. If you start with 50$ you cant go to 200$ or 25$. You need to stick to 50$ all game long.

Though I am not much of a gambler, I have been to the Montreal Casino a couple times (I have also been to Vegas several times). I agree that the Montreal Casino sucks in its location, atmosphere, service, etc. It would definitely be better if it were run by a private company and relocated.

Years ago (2006) Cirque du Soleil did propose a plan (see below) to relocate the casino to a much more convenient location and to combine it with other facilities that would create new jobs, including jobs for the poor people who lived in the proposed location (Peel Basin). To the credit of the Montreal Casino, it was interested in the plan.

The plan was solid but, of course, it was shot down by leftist, anti-business "activists." These '"activists," as is often the case, want to keep poor people poor so that they remain clients of government and all the people and organizations who benefit from keeping the poor in their place. That is exactly what happened in New York City when AOC killed Amazon's plan to make a big investment in a poor part of Queens.

Loto-Québec is abandoning its plan to move the Montreal casino to Peel Basin, in the heart of some of Montreal's poorest neighbourhoods, because of a decision by Cirque du Soleil to pull out of the project.

Cirque du Soleil announced Friday it's withdrawing because of the uncertainty associated with the plan.

Loto-Québec and the Cirque du Soleil wanted to build a $1-billion entertainment complex and casino for the Peel Basin.

The project, announced last June, included plans for a 300-room hotel, a 2,500-seat performance hall, a convention centre and a shopping mall. The plan also required the relocation of the Casino de Montréal from Île-Notre-Dame to the Peel Basin.

However, the plan needed the approval of municipal and provincial governments.
On Thursday, the man who heads an intergovernmental committee examining the plan said it's too early for the Quebec government to decide if the casino can be moved to the Peel Basin area.

Guy Coulombe told reporters: "We think that the social problem is real. This is a neighbourhood in Montreal which has a lot of problems, social problems, unemployment and things like that. We agree that there's a risk there to be more a problem than a solution."

He recommended the gaming authority pay $300,000 to the southwest borough council so it could create a group that will discuss solutions to local social problems.

Quebec Finance Minister Michel Audet agreed with Coulombe, that Loto-Qu¿bec has to finish its work before the government will consider the project.

It appears these kinds of delays were too much for Cirque du Soleil.

In a news release, Cirque's president and CEO, Daniel Lamarre, said, "We cannot live with uncertainty for almost two years, not knowing if there will be a project at all down the road.

"We must protect the interests of our company and employees, as well as carry on with our development strategy."

AOC killed the Amazon project cause she's a lunatic, but, the people who lose the most from Casino's are poor people. The jobs and prosperity Casino's proport to produce for the community doesn't offset the damage they cause IMHO. I've know a few people who've been wiped out and destroyed their families by gambling.

I get what you mean about convenience. Having a downtown casino would definitely make things easier. Montreal's casino location can be a hassle, especially with the added costs and security checks. It's frustrating when you just want to enjoy some gambling without the extra fuss. As for online options, sites like https://themulligans.org offer convenience right from home. You skip the travel and ID checks, plus you can play anytime. It's all about finding what works best for you – whether it's the thrill of a physical casino or the comfort of online play.
