Point is going to raise the Conn Smythe Trophy. I predicted this a few weeks ago on 9/8 post #570.

Brayden Point will win the Conn Smythe Trophy if TB goes all the way.....although Hedman also a possibility. Point was a 3rd round draft choice of TB and this kid from Calgary has certainly outshone many drafted ahead of him.

Lightning win Stanley Cup, defeat Stars in Game 6 of Final
Shut out Dallas for first championship since 2004
https://www.nhl.com/news/tampa-bay-lightning-dallas-stars-game-6-recap/c-319086198
"The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup by defeating the Dallas Stars 2-0 in Game 6 of the Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Monday.

The Lightning previously won the Cup in 2004.

"It's the best moment of our hockey lives," Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman said. "So many emotions. It's going to take months for it to sink in, but we're going to be champions forever, we're going to be on that Cup forever. … It's what you imagine all your life..."

Hedman wins Conn Smythe Trophy, Lightning defenseman scored 10 goals
Helped Tampa Bay win Stanley Cup, third to have that many in playoffs
https://www.nhl.com/news/lightning-victor-hedman-wins-conn-smythe-trophy/c-319221558
"Victor Hedman won the Conn Smythe Trophy voted as the most valuable player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman was named after they won the Stanley Cup with a 2-0 win against the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

"I never in my dreams thought I would win the Stanley Cup," Hedman said. "It's a dream. It's so unrealistic. It's what you dream of when you play on the streets back home when you grow up. It's what you imagine all the time..."

Bettman proud of NHL's accomplishments with Stanley Cup, hub cities
Commissioner says players, League 'did what we set out to do' in face of pandemic
https://www.nhl.com/news/commission...ts-with-stanley-cup/c-319227908?tid=277548856
"After awarding the Stanley Cup to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman went to Studio 99, the restaurant at Rogers Place in Edmonton where he had eaten many meals since arriving in the bubble almost three weeks ago.

The Commissioner was going to grab a bite with Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and head to his hotel room to pack. The Stanley Cup Final had ended with a 2-0 win for the Lightning against the Dallas Stars in Game 6. The work had not, with the 2020 NHL Draft on Oct. 6-7 and the 2020-21 season to plan.

But first, he took a few minutes to put it all in perspective. The NHL had two main goals when returning to play after pausing the season March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus: keeping everyone safe and awarding the Stanley Cup with integrity.

"We did what we set out to do," Commissioner Bettman said..."

Congrats TBL.....

Although Point should have won Conn Smythe I thought it would be him or Hedman. Hedman led the whole team in ice time.

However do any of you guys realize that Kucherov had 27 assists and the only 2 NHL players to have more in a Stanley Cup playoffs were Gretzky and Lemieux??? Kooch can dish the rubber!

Due to Covid, the NHL is headed towards a temporary realignment with American and Canadian divisions. The American and Canadian division winners will meet for the Stanley Cup:

Not really surprised with this, especially with what the Blue Jays had to go through to play in MLB. Canada is sticking to their guns about people from the states crossing the northern border and that includes athletes. It might bite them in the ass or it might create an Olympic or World Juniors feel to it. Let’s hope for the later.

For those of you who thought you had seen the last of the Quebec Nordqiues- Quebec's one time "other hockey team" - and their distinctive fleurs-de-lis, guess again! They're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yet why is there no NHL team occupying this wonderful arena?

I agree that it's unfortunate that this beautiful NHL-calibre arena still isn't home to an NHL team. The problem is that the western conference is short of teams in its conference, which is a big reason why Seattle was granted a franchise over others. My guess is that it's just a matter of time until we see NHL hockey being played regularly in QC. If i'm a betting man i'd put money on an eastern franchise relocating to QC. I'm thinking of the Florida Panthers, which plays most of its games in an empty arena. And with no fans being allowed in arenas since the beginning of covid it won't be easy on financially-troubled franchises. And since Canada is short of NHL franchises (as compared to the US) it wouldn't surprise me to see a US-based franchise possibly playing their games out of Quebec in a 'Canadian division' in the not-to-distant future.
