I called my cable provider and upgraded to HD service which is another $10 a month. Not sure what channels are broadcast in HD or 4K but I know Netflix will stream videos in 4K. They are supposed to call me back today so I will ask about 4K as well.
There are currently only a few channels that broadcast in 4K and most TV services will charge you extra just to get those channels. Considering the selection of channels in 4K right now, I don't think it's worth the premium.

Look behind you.
Check your internet provider as to how much data your plan gives you, HD and especially 4K use huge amounts of data for download, not hard to use 40 gig in one day.

Thanks for reminding me. They are supposed to be calling me on some other issues and my cable/internet bill doesn't say what my data allotment is.

STN,

I spoke to Frontier and they upgraded me to 45MB which they said will be more than sufficient to handle the data load from streaming videos over the Internet onto the TV.

I had a internet plan of 160 Gb and ran out around the 20th of the month, for $17.95 extra I now have unlimited. I think you either asked the wrong person, wrong question or got the wrong answer. 45 Mb is nothing for download data, probably not even the title on a 4K movie.

I blow through 150 GB a month but I have 2 daughters who stream everything from Netflix, YouTube and other various streaming sites. EB I think you must mean 45 Mbits as the download speed, which is about right for 4k.

Btw, if you decide to subscribe to a 4k service from your cable provider, you need a 4k box from them. It's true that there are very few 4k channels at least in Canada.

And unfortunately you won't see Tom holding the cup in 4k as the camera equipment used by the networks is still just HD. This is going to be a big cost for the sports networks to upgrade all that equipment to 4k. But even in HD it will still look amazing!

!

Yes when I said 45 MB I meant 45 Megabits I thought that was the universal acronym used. She told me that 25 MB would be sufficient but the new plan she put me on will have 45 MB which she said was more than sufficient.

That is the download speed, you need to find out how much data you are allowed to download per month. With HD and 4K Netflix we blow through over 225 GB per month.

I am being told by Frontier, two different reps now, that the only thing I need to be concerned with is download speed and there will be no extra charge for downloading any amount of data.

OK, I am guessing you have an unlimited data plan, something without HD or 4K before would have been unnecessary. Just wanted to make sure you did not go over and get charged the extra $100 as I did.
Enjoy the TV setup.

Just did some checking. According to Netflix here is the amount of data you will use per hour: 0.7 GB per hour for SD (Standard Definition) 3 GB per hour for HD (High Definition) 7 GB per hour for UHD (Ultra High Definition also known as 4K)
