Mahomes passed for 819 yards in a game when he was Texas Tech. I can't recall if it was a school record or NCAA record. He is the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, who was a journeyman relief pitcher and not a particularly good one.

Mahomes the QB looks like a great young QB and time will tell with him. There have been some good QB to come into the league the last few years like Goff, Wentz, Winston and DeShaun Watson. You have to give them a few years to see if they develop consistency or end up like Vince Young and Robert Griffin III, who both flamed out quick after good starts to their pro careers.

For the first time this season i bet against my Buffalo Bills and to everyone's surprise they ended up clobbered the heavily favorite Minnesota Vikings. Holy crap! The Vikings were not only the favorite but the game's betting line was the biggest of all the games yesterday.

QB Josh Allen played great and even hurdled one of the Vikings players while successfully going for the first down. At half time the score was 27-0 Bills and the only points surrendered by the Bills defence were garbage points late in the game.

Now the Vikings are heading to LA for a Thursday night against a great LA Rams team and their schedule isn't getting easier.

Another surprise for me was the total destruction of the NE Patriots by the Detroit Lions last night. The Patriots look old and slow. Julian Edelman's absence is being felt. No running game. No receiving game other than Gronk. Brady looks even slower than last season. The defence is very average.

Is this the year the Patriots end up missing the playoffs?

The Patriots do have issues, but when Edelman and Gordon lineup at WR in a couple of games their passing attack will be much better than the piss poor effort they had last night.

The Rams look very good and they are the one team that stands out so far as tough, real tough, on O and on D.

Falcons---Saints...wow,,,what an exciting game....43-37 in ot for my Saints....another spectacular performance by Drew with 2 tdowns...yes 2 tdowns and the winning one......396 yards by the pass....just great. Not the same story with the Packers...not easy and so sad to watch Rodgers playing on one leg....

Rodgers playing on one leg is better than DeShone Kizer playing on two legs. Interestingly Timmy Boyle, the 3rd string QB due to the Brett Hundley trade, is a former Connecticut State Player of the Year who was at one time the starting QB at UConn. Boyle’s time at UConn was marred by problems with the coaching staff and issues on the offensive line, so Boyle transferred to Eastern Kentucky and did better there. If and when Rodgers leg finally gives out for the season on a sack or hit, I would like to see Boyle get a chance.

Garoppolo Tears ACL, Out For Season

Kansas City DE Justin Houston has said that Jimmy Garoppalo had nobody to blame but himself for his injury, for not running out of bounds. Watching this replay, I tend to agree with Houston:

Not a smart play by Garoppalo. This is the NFL, not college football where you can get away with such silly plays.

Mahomes is clearly talented but the league always catches up as more tape exists on the player. If he doesn't and is throwing 3+ TDs every game sorta like Matt Ryan in 2016, then he'll be MVP too like Ryan was too. But not even Tom Brady can sustain such a clip.
Fitzpatrick came down to earth a little tonight because everything always gravitates to the mean. Case Keenum, who played so well last year, has thrown at least one INT in every game so far this year (3 INTs in the first game if I remember correctly) but Denver seems to be winning despite him.

It was such a weird week. I would have lost a lot of money if I were a betting man. So many upsets. GB, Vikings, Jags, Texans all lost games that were probably won on paper-- but paper obviously isn't real life.

Looked to me like Garoppolo's leg buckled before contact, which is very consistent with a lot of ACL injuries. A PubMed link I read said about 70% of ACL injuries are non-contact.

If he ran straight out of bounds instead of up the sideline, his leg never buckles. It buckled because he was undecided on what to do. It should be noted that when the play happened it was 3rd down, he was chased out of the pocket by DE Houston, he was nowhere near a first down, and SF was losing by 2 touchdowns with 5 minutes left in the game. What about that scenario should have created any indecision?

Agree with you on the indecision but his ACL was probably gonna tear at some point anyway. For athletes, those injuries mostly happen due to structural damage from years of wear and tear versus an external force acting upon them (obviously a direct hit can also have the same effect). If I remember correctly when Teddy Bridgewater and Deshaun Watson went down in practice with ACL injuries, it was non-contact. Either way, former Patriots QBs aren't that great outside New England anyway. Brian Hoyer, Matt Cassel, Jacoby Brissett (he was good for a while): meh and that's why they get the rap as system guys.

Best Thursday night game in a while. Neither renowned defense showed up, at least according to the score anyway. Cousins and Goff respectively passed for 422 and 465 yards. Overall, defense definitely feels like an afterthought for most teams three weeks in. Only 10 teams have given up less than 1000 yards in net total yards so far. Rams and Vikings are in that group. Mahomes is going to need to keep scoring because Kansas City is dead last.

Yes, good game last night. Now, for the Superbowl half time band, Beiber.... really.... Arianna Grande.... really..... Now to each their own on mucis taste but guys who listen to these two bands are too busy putting their makeup on to go clubbing or watching The Voice. My daughter and her friends listen to that and from what I have seen these kids could not give a fuck about sports, hunting or fishing. It is all about " Oh my Gawd.... those pants look fantastic and that hair tint.....just to die for ". The NFL does need new fans but it may be easier to get non hip hop people.
My selection. https://youtu.be/Yhy42grQJng
This guy rules, real music IMO.

Gaby, I noticed that Suzy Kolber was used in an interview last night. Do you remember when she interviewed an obviously drunk Joe Namath on national TV and he tried to kiss her?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc65NC44dSk

The lesson there is never seek to live interview an obviously drunk subject. I think she learned her lesson!

The funny thing about that interview is that despite the fact Namath admitted he was drunk, he was more lucid than Kolber!

I have no clue why Kolber is on the air doing football...absolutely clueless!
