The Saints didn't do anything that hasn't been done before- they deployed a version of the Giants famous "NASCAR" defense, with a DL consisting of 4 defensive ends. If you are wondering whether it was the same defense that was used to defeat Brady in the 2007 and 2011 season Super Bowls by the Giants, yes, it was. The Giants had better personnel than the Saints do now, but Brady is older and the Bucs were very confused by that defense. I also noticed a couple of times when they got pressure straight up the middle, Brady looked painfully immobile. Unless he is sensing outside pressure while in the pocket, Brady has a hard time escaping pressure. He is less mobile than Eli Manning was in his last season, but Eli compensated by having a great radar for feeling pressure and was one of the least sacked QBs ever. When you are slow you have to have that radar, and be able to feel the pressure coming, otherwise your stay in the NFL is destined to be short and very painful. But the pressure up the middle is difficult for any less than mobile QB.
During the game I heard the announcers saying the tape would be passed around the league. There was tape of the 2 Giants Super Bowl wins over Brady using the same defensive scheme if anyone wanted to bother watching them.
What was funny is that Drew Brees was the only guy in the entire NBC studio who picked the Saints to win.

He is so much better than the young punks Mahomes, Herbert, Allen, Mayfield, Jackson et al that it's ridiculous. The younger QBs do not know how to protect the football. Nobody has been better in NFL history than protecting the football than Rodgers. It's not even close. Rodgers is playing in his own league right now and Brady is really the only one who is close. But even Brady is weaker at protecting the football.

Packers were lucky to win that game. Mayfield 4 INTs but the last one came after a blatant pass interference was not called. If called, Cleveland is in FG range down 24-22 with a chance to boot the game winning FG with less than 30 seconds.

Very manly run by Josh Allen against the Patriots. He could have slid and only picked up 10 yards, but decided to push the envelop and get an extra 7-8 yards and take a couple of hits. I like QBs that take chances like this. It's a man's game and is played and won by men. I really hate it when a slide leaves a bunch of yards unclaimed and on the table. Those guys are putting themselves and their well being ahead of the team. You need to pick your spots and Allen seems to do it well. I like this kid. Of the kid group of QBs under 27 he may still end up being the best one of them. Certainly has the most guts.

Allen is brave and picks his spots well. You can't play football and be a total pussy and leave yardage out there when you have a wide open field. Otherwise your teammates look at you and think, "he is a fucking pussy." Instead Allen's teammates look at him and know he is out there fighting for them. I would much rather go to war with a guy like that.
The fact that the Bills coaches called a naked bootleg for Allen on a critical 4th and 1, and Allen getting around 6-7 yards on the play, tells you all you need to know about the type of weapon he is.
