Los Angeles Kings' defenceman Denis Gauthier will get his day in the NHL court of law on Monday.
The veteran blue liner will speak to league disciplinarian Colin Campbell about the elbow that he threw that leveled Canadiens' defenceman Josh Gorges during the Habs victory over the Kings on Saturday.
Gauthier received a charging major and a game misconduct after leaving his feet to deliver a blow to the head of Gorges. Gorges needed help to leave the ice and was escorted to the Canadiens locker room. He returned briefly, causing a turnover that led directly to a Kings goal then did not return for the third period. It is suspected that he suffered a concussion on the play.
The 32-year old Gauthier has a history of run-ins with the League and has been suspended three times in the past already. The Canadiens were extremely unhappy with the hit.
