I sort of understand from a business perspective, they can’t let rooms just go empty. But morally is another thing
Regular employees are simply not paid when they're late or don't go to work. When it happens too often, they're fired. Nobody has to pay their employer. That leads to coercion, because it's abuse of power.

La lecture des articles 286.3 et 286.4 du Code criminel serait toute indiquée en complément à l'article de La Presse. Notez que les peines maximales sont très rarement appliquées.

What do u think about restaurants or hair salons for example charging u as the guest for not showing up or cancelling too close to the appointment time?

I remember seeing an SPs who I haven't seen for a long time and she used to be at XO. I just mentioned I have no idea what happened to XO and she said the owner became a drug addict and that was the downfall of the agency. Another SP another told me that the booker didn't stop asking her to join an orgy when she didn't want to. I remember XO organizing some orgy party but apparently it was only for the ''loyal'' clients, I wonder if those events went well or the sexual assaults might be where it comes from?

I remember around the last times I used XO, a moment freaked me out. The agency knew my username here and that I was a regular. One day, they contacted me and they called me by my first name. I never shared my full name beside the SPs. I asked the last SP I saw if she mentioned me by my full name and she said no, she doesn't know how whoever contacted knew my first name.

Another thing, I noticed was when booking and arriving at the door, they ask us to just enter and not knock. I suspected that was because neighbour noticed multiple door knocking for the same door and raised suspection. At that time, it was the only agency that asked me to do that. So this fit with the neighbour getting suspicious.

I been doing this activity since I was 18yo and now I am 37yo. Even with all those years, I never knew the ''behind the scene'' of this business.

Really disappointing to read this, I hope for the best for the victims.

It's not just that. This employer used various forms of coercion to force girls to work as much as they can. He threatened girls who wanted to quit the agency that if they did he would out them to their friends and family. A friend of mine mentioned that at some point she would do 9am to midnight several days in a row because the boss was pressuring her. Somebody shouldn't have to pay fees because they are too sick to go to work. That is not advantageous to clients, either.

The "don't knock" rule is still in effect for other agencies.
Gotta be discreet.

I wonder, over time, how many phone numbers the agencies (like xo) would accumulate...
What do you think they're going to do.. go after thousands of numbers to arrest every single client? I think instead of making you scared of getting caught by the police, this should just be proof that you need to be careful with making ethical and informed choices when booking sex workers.

Excellent read that sheds a lot of light. I had wondered what happened at XO. I mentioned in one of my reviews that I had a bad experience there.

I had the feeling I was being watched as I arrived at my last appointment there. It would have been around the time that this was happening. When I arrived, several men came out of adjacent apartments and checked me out as I entered. I mentioned it in my review, and that, along with my experience with the escort, left a very bad taste in my mouth. I never returned.

This article will put a damper on business, of that, I am sure, and I now know that my perception of what happened that day is real.

In fact, it will serve as a time for me to reflect on this whole hobby and the future it holds with me as a hobbyist.
Those suspicious men might’ve been police

No, from what I gather, the chances of the police reaching out to piles of phone numbers where the usual texts go something like :"hi I'd like to book so and so at 5pm if possible". "ok, booked, thanks". And so on... would not be something they would do. But I wonder how many different clients a place like xo realistically had, over the course of a year, for example.

If I was a frequent client of xo - one of the monthly/weekly guys, I might be sweating a bit this morning.

It's really strange to me that the investigation only started in 2024 but according to the article in 2017 a man reported that his minor daughter was working for the agency.

Only went once to this Agency, had a terrible time getting their. They did not tell me St. Antoine was closed, Atwater was closed as well, had to park almost at the Atwater market.
Actually really don't remember who I saw , or how much it cost. I was so pissed off, that they did not tell me this before hand, lost 20 minutes of my time for being late.

Have been for a while with Euphoria , and was told, twice when making an appointment that most of the door intercoms, had been broken by XO. To call first and go to the apartment # XXX
I guess it confirms probably true , the vandalism of XO towards Euphoria down the street.
Sorry for all the SP's who had worked their !

This reminds me of Nadya's VIP. It used to be one of the reputable agency and suddenly around 2017, it just quietly disappear. Then when I met SPs who used to work there, they reveal to me the owner abused them and threatened to not put them on the schedule if they didn't had sex with him. Also their website kept the profile of SPs who left the agency long ago, including those who quit this business.

Does anyone have an English version of this news? La Presse doesn't seem to have a English version of their website.

Also what is a ''Homme à tout faire''? The description of the 50 years old guy. Was he the driver for outcall? He was doing any tasks that didn't involved booking, taking photos, socia media, ect.?

I know a few women who started working at agencies as minors.. It's not that uncommon. Thankfully some employers are not like that. When I worked at a popular spa, the owner asked every new girl for their ID's.

This is unfortunately common. I have friends who worked for certain massage parlors in Montreal and were drugged and assaulted by the owners, or coerced into sex. I heard similar things about agency owners, more than one person.

Personally I feel bad for all of the employees. I heard of a girl who was raped by a customer, he complained that ''she was rude'' and she was forced to apologize to him by the agency boss. Before becoming the patron of an establishment like that maybe do a bit of research.

In all due respect, you lack a bit of curiosity.
Exactly my point, I think it's important to be curious and ask questions. When we as indies talk about this we're shut down. Girls who aren't independent obviously can't come here and talk about their working conditions. Once again, I'm not saying it's like that everywhere. Also it's easy to be a good client, and girls who work at places like that need them.

I noticed the intercom was often broken back then but I assumed it was street gangs that didn't like how successful their agency was and losing clients to them. I never suspected XO would do that.

One wonders if this will impact the other current agencies. The current top agency formed out of xo. They even used (do they still, not sure) at least one of the same buildings (not the ones mentioned in the article). One wonders if the link between the old and the new will result in something else...
