I read a lot of online news in the morning and readers comments, some of them are pretty disgusting towards Christy. Most of the comments were towards Christy and very few against War Machine, there are some pretty fucked up people out there.

REPORT:
Christy Mack, 23, and her MMA fighter ex-boyfriend, Jon Koppenhaver, aka War Machine, 32, broke up in May. However, that didn’t stop him from showing up to her home unannounced on Aug. 8. When he arrived, he found Christy with a male friend and allegedly assaulted both of them. While Christy’s friend escaped mostly unscathed, Christy’s severe injuries landed her in the hospital. According to her statement, Christy sustained injuries including 18 broken bones in her face, a fractured rib, and a ruptured liver. Severely graphic images to follow.

CHRISTY'S STATEMENTS:
My injuries include 18 broken bones around my eyes, my nose is broken in 2 places, I am missing teeth and several more are broken. I am unable to chew, or see out of my left eye. My speech is slurred from my swelling and lack of teeth. I have a fractured rib and severely ruptured liver from a kick to my side. My leg is so badly injured I have not been able to walk on my own. I also attained several lesions from a knife he got from my kitchen. He pushed the knife into me in some areas such as my hand, ear, and head. He also sawed much of my hair off with this dull knife. After some time, the knife broke off of the handle and continued to threaten me with the blade. I believed I was going to die. He has beaten me many times before, but never this badly.

He took my phone and cancelled all of my plans for the following week to make sure no one would worry about my whereabouts. He told me he was going to rape me, but was disappointed in himself when he could not get hard. After another hit or two, he left me on the floor bleeding and shaking, holding my side from the pain of my rib. He left the room and went to the kitchen where I could hear him ruffling through my drawers. Assuming he was finding a sharper, more stable knife to end my life, I ran out my back door, shutting it behind me so the dogs didn’t run inside to tip him off. I hopped the fence to the golf course behind my house and ran to a neighboring house. Naked and afraid he would catch me, I kept running through the neighborhood knocking on doors. Finally, one answered and I was brought to the hospital and treated for my injuries.

First, if she had kept seeing him after even one beating it's a pretty said statement about her judgment, but never mind, no one should ever hit a woman. If some big badass MMA fighter has to beat on a former girlfriend for any reason it tells me he's a violent psycho, especially considering all of the damage he did to her.

As for fan reactions toward Christy, we've seen on this board some extremely rash statements by fans against competing team fans including very harsh statements against teams and entire fan regions. People here lose their perspective completely just because their team does poorly and irrationally take it out on anything to do with the opposition. Now take fans who enjoy the MMA, a "sport" with more graphic personalized violence than almost any other. There's got to be a fairly large more extreme element within that overall fan group where greater violence alone is the attraction and sympathy for human suffering is very poor. So one of their idols brutally beats a woman and then the fans attack the woman for whatever she may have done by way of not giving their animal whatever he wants that displeased an allegedly habitual beater of women who is now in a lot of legal trouble, and who may be lost to his fans. No surprise at all they're going to blame the victim. What do they care about broken bones, organ damage, missing teeth, cuts and bruises when that's what is getting them off in the first place. The brutality is part of the attraction. How dare some broad upset the beast who satisfies a vicarious need for violence and be the cause of removing him from fulfilling that need.

What little I've read about the guy makes him come off as a violent sicko when it comes to handling emotional issues. Whatever he is really like, I don't expect some of the fans of a guy like that to be any different.

As for her being a porn star. I have no idea what that changes. If some forget porn is an act and the rougher story lines have anything to do with how to treat an actress...they need mental rewiring.

Well the fucking asshole is probably banned from MMA for life now, and should probably be prosecuted to a greater degree since his body is considered a weapon in cases like that, on top of the knife he used. He really does not have anything for his defense, pure pathetic jerk and thats it.

My whole life I have encountered men who feel they have the right to slap , beat or degrade a woman. This attitude is still out there amongst todays generation and it makes me shudder to think that this cycle will never be broken. The violence of any human being towards another should not be something we forgive rather it should be punished to the full extent of the law. This includes women who beat or degrade the men they are with. Non-violence needs to be taught to children when they are young, the cycle needs to be broken !

Porn star, SP MP SW or a woman in a regular job, none of these women should be treated like they were the problem when they are victims of violence, society needs to ensure that the blame is placed on the correct individual.........without allowing excuses !

I was listening to a conversation at work about Ray Rice knocking out his girlfriend. One person started to say...well...she was coming at him aggressively and.......................I looked over at the person. "Are you kidding me?" That person was a middle aged woman. How does society get things right when women make excuses for men beating women.

If you think society in general is a mess about this, try looking more closely at athletes, especially professional athletes. It's screwed up mightily. Take a very recent comparative example. Jonathan Papelbon of the Phillies fails to save a game and the fans get after him. Papelbon grabs his dick in the face of the crowd to fire back an insult. The MLB suspends him for 7 games costing him about $500,000. Adrian Peterson beats a 4 year-old across his frontal private parts with 14 to 15 shots of a stick leaving very ugly injuries. Peterson gets suspended 1 game with pay, then gets to come back because he had a revelation and regret during one session of counseling. LESSON: break the rules of the game and hard punishment. But beat the kids, women, threaten to torture or kill others, steal, use guns, force sex, slaughter animals and it only matters if the public becomes aware and what level of outrage there is.

It's now known that Peterson scarred another 4 year-old son above an eye with another shot he gave a defenseless child, yet currently he's playing with no loss of pay at all. Sure a lot of people are outraged, but not so much for the home town fan. If he's your child beater, rapist, animal killer the excuses flow like a river because...GAMES and WINS and BETTING LINES and ENTERTAINMENT are more important than the lives of PEOPLE.

I agree the cycle will not be broken because society does not know how to set up priorities to achieve it.
