Eliot Spitzer investigated over alleged choking incident

Ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s night with a woman at The Plaza hotel on Valentine’s Day weekend went south when the pair started arguing and he allegedly choked her, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Sunday.

The woman told cops she broke a glass and cut her wrists after the fight, sources said. She eventually stopped cooperating.

Officers had rushed to the Midtown hotel after the woman, Svetlana Travis, used her cellphone to call 911 at around 8 p.m. Saturday to say she was having a breakdown and had cut herself, sources said.

The cops went up to the $1,000-a-night room, and Spitzer answered the door, source said. Officers asked the disgraced former governor, “Is there a problem?” a source said.

“Everything’s fine. There’s no problem,” Spitzer said, according to the source.

The officers left and called 911, telling an operator to phone Travis back. Travis told a dispatcher that she no longer needed help, sources said.

The cops went back anyway to check, although Travis had by then left the room, sources said.

After Spitzer opened the door a second time, the cops spied broken glass, bloodstains and clothing on the floor and started a search inside, sources said.

The woman reappeared, and the cops called EMS workers to take her for treatment at Roosevelt Hospital, where she told staffers that Spitzer had attacked her, sources said.

On Sunday, Spitzer’s spokeswoman, Lisa Linden, said, “There is no truth to the allegation.”

In an interview with a second set of cops after midnight, “she said that she told Spitzer she was going back to Russia and he got upset and started throwing her around, choked her, threw her to the ground and threatened her.
“She then broke a glass, cut herself and called 911,” the source said.

Her relationship with Spitzer, who quit as governor over a hooker scandal in 2008, was unclear.

In follow-up interviews with detectives, the woman gave conflicting accounts of what happened, then stopped cooperating, sources said.

The NYPD got a warrant to search her cellphone and the room for evidence, and cops were seen standing guard outside the room Sunday evening.

The incident is under investigation, police said.

The corner room, No. 1541, is at the end of long hall and is one of the hotel’s Edwardian Suites, which are nearly twice the size of a normal room and feature Louis XV-style furnishings, gold bathroom fixtures and butler service.

The hotel is blocks from Spitzer’s Fifth Avenue apartment.

During the illicit romps that led to him being dubbed “Client 9” by the feds, Spitzer once traveled to DC for an assignation in the ritzy Mayflower Hotel with call girl Ashley Dupre.

Details of his hooker habit also included the claim that the “Love Gov” would wear mid-calf, black dress socks during sex.

In her 2013 memoir, ex-prostitute Rebecca Woodward alleged that Spitzer once pinned her to a bed and choked her during a $1,500 role-playing tryst in a Murray Hill apartment.

“The more struggle there was, the more he was into it,” she wrote in “Call Girl Confidential.”

Although Spitzer’s wife, Silda Wall, stoically stood by him when he resigned, she never helped the randy pol campaign during his failed comeback bid for city comptroller in 2013.

The couple, who have three adult daughters, announced that they had split late on Christmas Eve that year. The move came one day after The Post published exclusive photos of Spitzer shacking up with Lis Smith.

At the time, Smith was a spokeswoman for then-Mayor-elect de Blasio, who jettisoned her after getting blindsided by the embarrassing romance.

In December, The Post revealed Spitzer and Smith, who has worked on ex-Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s now-scuttled presidential bid, had broken up, with Linden, his rep, blaming their “hectic” schedules.

I see a strange parallel between Jian Ghomeshi and Eliot Spitzer-both men were once hailed as defenders of women and the feminist cause. It turned out that both "progressives" seemed to enjoy choking women more than defending their rights.

Call Girl: Eliot Spitzer Liked to Choke Me

nypost.com
Dec. 12, 2013

He socked it to her.
Eliot Spitzer lusted after violence, a former hooker says in a new tell-all book — revealing in graphic detail how the love gov pinned her to a bed inside a posh, Murray Hill apartment and then gripped her by the neck until she feared for her safety.

The violence was scripted by Spitzer, who wanted his hooker to follow a role-play dialogue in which she would pretend she had just taken a self-defense class.

The kinky politician would then pretend to test her skills by announcing, “Well, then, let’s see if you learned anything,” and attacking her.

“The more struggle there was, the more he was into it,” foxy blond escort Rebecca Woodard recalls of her sadistic tryst with Spitzer, whom she serviced for $1,500 at the behest of notorious hooker booker Kristin Davis.
“When he grabbed my throat, that was too much,” Woodard says in her book, “Call Girl Confidential,” written for Simon & Schuster under the nom-de-plume of Rebecca Kade.

Woodard would go on to work for Hockey Mom Madam Anna Gristina — eventually allowing her phone calls to be recorded to help prosecutors take down Gristina’s far more upscale operation.

“He wasn’t squeezing,” she recalls of the governor’s hands at her neck. “He was pushing down. I was on my back. I don’t know if he was trying to really hurt me, but he was . . .

“I was nervous. I was worried. This is not OK, I thought . . .

“It got rough,” she writes. “And then he put his hands around my throat, strangling me.

“He wasn’t pretending to be a rapist. But he was like an attacker. I still had my lingerie on. He was naked. He was aroused,” she writes.

“I thought, What do I do to get this part over with? What can I do? At some point, we have to get down to having sex and move on,” according to the book, which The Post obtained at a New York City bookstore.
The assaultive role play went too far, Woodard reveals.

Slender, with self-professed “natural breasts and a slim waist,” not to mention “naturally pale” hair down to her hips, Woodard, now 37, was catnip to the randy pol.

“He’s a role-play kind of guy.” Woodard says her then-boss, Davis, told her of the “important” and at first anonymous client, who had booked two or three days ahead of time.

“He didn’t want mainstream intercourse,” Davis told her.

“He definitely wanted a struggle,” warned Davis — who was herself just months away from getting ensnared in the ever-widening FBI investigation into Spitzer’s high-price hooker habit.

Briefed on the client’s “script,” Woodard waited for her mystery date at Davis’ “in-call” cathouse, an apartment at the high-rise Corinthian on East 38th Street.

Coincidentally, the building was developed by Spitzer’s billionaire father, Bernard.

It was the middle of the afternoon; the gov arrived wearing a shirt and tie — but had already ditched his jacket.

There’s no word from Woodard as to the notorious, calf-length black dress socks, which he reportedly kept on during the hooker trysts that became his political downfall.

Spitzer allegedly told Woodard he didn’t want to wear a condom, she says. She told him that was “not negotiable.” And then her all-too-real “self-defense” demonstration began.

“He was like some of the guys who envision themselves in a porn movie,” she said of the role-play’s start.

“It was I who was taking control of him initially,” she writes. “I felt really stupid at first. But then I got it. I’m pretty strong. I think he was gauging my strength.”

Spitzer then wrested control.

“I didn’t feel I was acting after a while,” she recalls of starting to struggle for real.

“I remember holding his wrists, him pushing back, me trying to hold my stance, and then we moved to the bed. My clothes came off in the fray,” she writes.

“It was all about restraint and holding me down until I was nearly helpless. He really put on a lot of pressure, pinning me to the bed,” she writes.

“It takes a lot to scare me. I’ve been through a lot. But at this point I was starting to get worried . . .

There was no ‘safety code word,’ and Spitzer ignored her pleas that he stop, halting the attack only when he was sated,” she said.

“He never said, ‘I’m sorry, are you OK?’ ” she recalled. He did leave her a big, undisclosed tip.

Woodard had one more creepy recollection — Spitzer sweated profusely. So much so that she joked to a friend that she’d had a date with “Governor Shvitzer.”

Woodard says in her book that she is a “Southern girl” and single mom who turned to prostitution to help finance a nasty custody battle against a “rock star.”

She coyly doesn’t name names in her tell-all, but Woodard’s battle was in the news at the time, in 2005, when she took the rocker — Spin Doctors front man Chris Barron — to court for allegedly kidnapping their little girl.

The rocker attacked Woodard in court as a Vicodin-popping mental case who was shacking up with a convicted rapist while raising their then-6-year-old daughter.

Reached about the book Saturday night, Gristina graciously showed no ill will toward Woodard for flipping against her.

“She was worried about losing her kid,” Gristina said.

Some of the book does appear a bit exaggerated, Gristina couldn’t help but add.

“She was just one of my budget, all-American girls,” Gristina said. “She only earned $400 an hour. She had no boobs.”

Spitzer spokeswoman Lisa Linden said, “According to Eliot, this claim is absurd.”

Back during the scandal in 2008 a number of reports indicated that Spitzer, much like Ghomieshi, liked his sex very rough. This was according to the escorts he slept with.

Client 9/Love Gov Back at it

Here are stories from the NY Post on Eliot Spitzer's latest troubles with an escort. He is getting repaid in spades for all the times he prosecuted and persecuted escorts and agency owners while he was attorney general of NY. The guy deserves all the headaches and bad PR he is experiencing.

Like many newspapers, business is not so good for the NY Post, but stories like this one are a godsend to the Post. I bet their circulation and web traffic have increased significantly in the last couple days. Whenever I pass through New York, I always enjoy picking up a copy of the paper. It's great mindless entertainment.

I posted Svetlana's story here.
__________

The NYPD’s investigation into claims that former Gov. Eliot Spitzer choked an admitted ex-hooker inside the Plaza Hotel has been put on ice because his accuser left the country, a department spokesman said Tuesday.
“I think at this point, the case is effectively, at the least, in limbo pending a complainant,” Deputy Commissioner Stephen Davis said.

“In a case like this you definitely need somebody.”

During an interview with cops early Sunday morning, Svetlana Travis, 25, accused Spitzer, 56, of flying into a rage and choking her Saturday night after she told him she was returning to her native Russia, sources have said.
She later changed her account and stopped cooperating with cops, then boarded a 7:30 p.m. Sunday flight to Moscow, sources have said.

“It’s not a question of the evidence per se, it’s a question of — look, I mean she has to come forward and you know, be interviewed in more detail about what happened and she refuses to do it,” Davis said.

Instagram “Look, she’s made it crystal clear that she wanted out and she refused to talk, and she in fact walked out on the detectives at one point and they had no authority to hold her.”

Cops believe Travis wrote an online tell-all about coming to New York with just $300, working as a $5,000-a-night hooker and saving “$200,000 by f–king for money.”

Spitzer’s lawyer issued a statement Monday saying that Travis had “recanted” her choking claim and sent an “unsolicited email” admitting “that any allegations of assault were false” after she arrived in Russia.
Spitzer — who quit the governor’s office over a prostitution scandal in 2008 — also issued a statement denying that Travis was his “girlfriend” and announcing that Lis Smith, a former spokeswoman for Mayor de Blasio, “is the love of my life.”

The Russian vixen who accused Eliot Spitzer of choking her at The Plaza hotel is a divorced, globe-trotting beauty who once bared all the dirty details of her life as a $5,000-a-night hooker, The Post has learned.
Cops believe that Svetlana Zakharova Travis, 25 — who dumped her husband, Michael, in 2013 but kept his name — used the byline “Svetlana Z” for an article titled “Sex is Sex, but Money is Money.”
The online piece reveals how she came to New York with $300 in her pocket and developed a stable of wealthy clients.

“I turned 24 in March and have managed to save $200,000, by f- -king for money,” reads the piece, which was posted on the site Medium.

Spitzer and Travis’ relationship began at least two years ago, while she was working as a high-priced call girl — and he was her “sugar daddy,” sources said.

“They met before this, and she was a prostitute at the time,” a police source said.

Travis told doctors that Spitzer pushed her and grabbed her by the neck, saying she was his former girlfriend.Photo: Instagram In 2014, Travis posted a karaoke rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” on YouTube with the title “a song for mr. E.S.” — an obvious reference to the infamous, hooker-loving “Client 9.”

“If you wanna be with me, baby, there’s a price to pay. I’m a genie in a bottle. Gotta rub me the right way,” she sings in the clip.

Travis gave no hint at an occupation or means of support in her Instagram post. The superintendent at her last known address said she was evicted last month.Photo: Instagram But on Saturday night, their relationship came to a grinding halt during a rendezvous in a $1,000-a-night room at The Plaza, where she told the former governor she was leaving him and returning to the Motherland.

Travis first leveled the bombshell assault accusations against Spitzer, 56, that night at Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was treated for a superficial cut to her forearm from a broken wine glass, sources said.

It’s believed Travis wrote, “I turned 24 in March and have managed to save $200,000, by f- -king for money,” in an article posted on Medium.com.Photo: Instagram She told doctors that Spitzer had pushed her and grabbed her by the neck, and she repeated those claims to the NYPD, describing herself as the former governor’s “girlfriend,” sources said.

But she later changed her account of the incident, became “totally uncooperative” and refused to speak with detectives, sources said. She declined to press charges.

Spitzer phoned her repeatedly after she was taken to the hospital, and he showed up there looking “like a burglar” to try to sneak in, a source said.

“He was all covered up, with a dark hat pulled down and a black jacket pulled up, trying to cover himself as much as possible so he wouldn’t be recognized,” the source said.

Sources said cops have seen surveillance video of him trying to sneak in.

On Sunday, Travis took a 7:30 p.m. flight from JFK Airport to Moscow, using a ticket she had bought in advance, sources said.
“She said she just wanted to go back to Russia,” a police source said.

“She was lucid. She insisted on going . . . and there were no grounds for us to keep her here.”

On Instagram, Travis flaunts her body and luxurious lifestyle in photos posted under the handle “szakharova25” — based on her maiden name — with the most recent shot a view of The Plaza that she took Saturday, hours before the alleged attack.

She also took photos of herself inside the seventh-floor restaurant at the Bergdorf Goodman department store across the street from the posh Midtown hotel.

In Russian, she wrote that she downed three martinis with lunch, with the last one, which was espresso-flavored, mixed for her on the house.

“She was sitting right here at the bar, having a good time. We talked about music for a little while. She was very nice,” the restaurant manager told The Post.

Despite her taste for the finer things in life, Travis gives no hint of any occupation or means of support, and the superintendent at her last known address said she was evicted late last month.

A photo she posted around that time shows the corner of a room with a sink in an alcove, an open closet and a mirror over a small shelf with a chair in front of it.

“This is how my $60/night hotel room looks like Midtown NYC, right in the heart of the city, I truly love it! #NYC #29/01/2016,” the caption reads, before adding in Russian, “There is even a safe in here

Also, court records filed in Orange County, Calif., show a judgment filed against her over a 2015 lawsuit that said she skipped out on her $2,285-a-month rent for an apartment in Anaheim

Yet on Instagram, she poses in a full-length fur coat, a floral-print sundress, a white string bikini and a bright-red, one-piece swimsuit with a plunging neckline.

In other shots, Travis lounges on a sofa in patent-leather Louboutin stiletto heels, tries on a sparkling tiara and shows off a set of flashy dangling earrings and a matching necklace.

Travis flew back to Moscow on a 7:30 p.m. flight out of JFK on Sunday night.Photo: Instagram Just a week ago, she posted a shot of herself standing in front of a mirror in a room at the Lowell Hotel on the Upper East Side, wrapped in a plush bathrobe.

“We love staying at cool hotels!” she wrote.

Spitzer, meanwhile, denied on Monday that Travis was his girlfriend and announced his continued affections for former gal pal Lis Smith, a former spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Spitzer’s lawyer issued a statement saying that Travis recanted the allegations in an “unsolicited email” once she landed in Russia.Photo: Instagram Spitzer’s affair with the much younger Smith was the final straw for his long-suffering wife, Silda Wall, and both she and the former governor announced the end of their 26-year marriage on Christmas Eve 2013 — one day after The Post published exclusive photos of him and Smith together.

“The woman who initially made the allegation was not my girlfriend. Lis Smith was my girlfriend, and I had and have deep affection for Lis. She is the love of my life,” Spitzer said in a statement Monday.

Spitzer’s lawyer also issued a statement saying — without detail — that Travis “was someone whom Mr. Spitzer has known for a period of time,” and added that the ex-governor “agreed to meet her at a room previously booked for her at The Plaza hotel.”

Following a “brief and amicable conversation” there during the afternoon, Spitzer left, then returned at Travis’ request in the early evening and found her “highly emotional” and “threatening self-harm,” said the lawyer, Adam Kaufmann.

Kaufmann’s statement also says that Travis “recanted the allegations of assault” and conveniently sent an “unsolicited* *email” when she landed in Russia “which confirms that no assault occurred.”

“Mr. Spitzer acted appropriately at all times during this incident. He has been and intends to remain fully cooperative in the event there is any further inquiry by relevant authorities,” Kaufmann added.

The admitted ex-hooker who accused former Gov. Eliot Spitzer of choking her inside the Plaza Hotel made similar allegations in a 2013 assault suit she filed against another man, court records show.

Svetlana Travis — who cops believe wrote a 2014 tell-all Web article about working as a $5,000-a-night call girl — claimed that Ernest Atayan “grabbed (her) by the neck, and hit her head on the countertop” in a Brooklyn apartment.

Travis’s Brooklyn Supreme Court suit further alleged that when she fell toward the floor, Atayan “kicked her in the butt, causing her to fall further.”

The incident allegedly unfolded around 3 a.m. on May 19, 2013, following a birthday party at the since-closed New Cats Cafe in Bay Ridge.

Travis and Atayan were among five people who helped Yana Dubrinkskaya carry home her presents and the leftover food, the suit says.

Atayan and two male friends allegedly “refused to leave the apartment,” with Atayan telling Travis “not to tell him ‘what to do,'” the suit says.

Court records show the case is no longer pending, and Atayan’s lawyer, Mitchell Elman, said Travis “made false accusations against my client.”

“No criminal charges were ever brought. She sued him civilly without success,” Elman said.

Lawyer Arkady Bukh, whose firm initially represented Travis, said: “On ethical grounds we’re no longer representing that lady.”

He declined to comment further.

Spitzer, who quit as governor in 2008 over a hooker scandal, has denied choking Travis inside a $1,000-a-night room at the Plaza on Saturday night.

She flew to her native Russia on Sunday after telling cops she didn’t want to press charges against the disgraced ex-pol.

The woman who accused ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer of choking her during a fight at the Plaza Hotel hopped on a Russia-bound airplane after refusing to press charges, law enforcement sources said Monday.

Svetlana Travis, 25, took a 7:30 p.m. Sunday flight from JFK Airport to Moscow, using a ticket she had purchased in advance, the sources said.
“She said she just wanted to go back to Russia,” one source said.

“She was lucid. She insisted on going…and there were no grounds for us to keep her here.”

Travis first dropped her bombshell allegation against Spitzer at Roosevelt Hospital, where she was treated Saturday night for a superficial cut to her forearm that she said she inflicted on herself with a broken wine glass, sources said.
After she told doctors that Spitzer had pushed her and grabbed her by the neck, the hospital contacted the NYPD and she repeated the claim to cops, sources said.

Travis said the hooker-loving former pol went ballistic inside his $1,000-a-night room when she told him she planned to return to her native country around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Travis claimed that the disgraced ex-Love Gov “got upset and started throwing her around, choked her, threw her to the ground and threatened her,” leading her to break the glass and cut herself, sources have said.
She later changed her account of the incident, became “totally uncooperative” and refused to speak with detectives, sources said.

Spitzer hasn’t been charged, and his spokeswoman has said there’s “no truth to the allegation” he choked Travis.

A source said that cops would likely try to interview Spitzer, but noted that there wasn’t a strong legal basis on which to haul him in for questioning.

“The bottom line is we don’t have an effective complainant at this point, someone who’s willing to lodge a complaint so we can go forward with this,” the source said.

A 2013 memoir by ex-hooker Rebecca Woodard claims that Spitzer once pinned her to a bed and choked her in a Murray Hill apartment during a role-playing romp for which he paid $1,500.

The other side of it is that back in 2008 a number of other Spitzer escorts from the Empire Club, who had nothing to gain, gave anonymous interviews to the press. While one was very charitable about Spitzer and said (incredibly) that she did not know he was Governor of NY, despite that he took her all over the Caribbean on trips, a few others said he really liked rough sex and he also pressed for full GFE service, no condoms. These interviews with Empire Club escorts had the ring of truth because they were good and bad. What also emerged from these stories was Spitzer's incredibly reckless behavior in pushing the envelope and practically begging to be caught: playing games with his New York State police detail, to lose them, etc. The reckless nature of his http://theblemish.com/2010/04/ashley-dupre-naked-in-playboy/ashley-dupre-playboy-06/ and the enormous sums of money he spent told you that this guy was maybe a tad out of control with his hobbying activities. But who wouldn't have banged Ashley Dupree at that time: http://theblemish.com/2010/04/ashley-dupre-naked-in-playboy/ashley-dupre-playboy-06/

I saw some pics of the Russian girl and she was very hot and very clean and wholesome looking. Nobody can really quibble with the Spitzer taste in women, but he seems to have been attracted to savvy women who would game him.

According to this story in the NY Post, Spitzer's Russian call girl was not quite the exclusive $5k per night escort that she pretended to be. Apparently she was doing lots of one hour encounters out of an upper east side apartment, at least enough of them so that the coming and going of her clients in the building annoyed some of her nosy neighbors.

Russian women are beautiful but they can be enigmatic, unreliable and fickle. So they're just like any other women, only more so. Just kidding! :D But I do deal with Russian women with great caution. Spitzer should have done so too.

Spitzer hooker turned NYC apartment into a brothel, records show
By Julia Marsh
February 23, 2016 | nypost.com

The former $5,000-a-night hooker who accused Eliot Spitzer of choking her at The Plaza hotel was booted from an apartment last year because it was being used as a brothel, according to court documents.

Svetlana Travis was kicked out of the Midtown rental apartment in July, six months after signing the lease, amid complaints that strange men were going in and out of the pad, according to city Housing Court records.

City marshals evicted the 25-year-old vixen from the first-floor unit at 1125 Lexington Ave. after the building’s manager, Sierra Residential, issued several warnings and the landlord, Contor Associates, pursued legal action, according to records.

The building super “discovered that men were entering and leaving the apartment at approximately one-hour intervals on most afternoons,” court papers say.

Three months earlier, on April 30, one of the tenants called 911 to say he saw men through his peephole going into her apartment, 1A, throughout the day, sources told The Post.

That same month, Contor Associates said in court that “the apartment is being used for the purpose of prostitution” and that the unit may have been illegally sublet.

“The apartment’s use is causing traffic in the building wherein different men are entering and leaving the apartment on an hourly basis, and which traffic is a security issue for the building,” the filing says.

Cops found no criminality, but the complaint was referred to the NYPD’s Organized Crime and Control Bureau, which handles vice crimes.

At one point, Sierra managing principal Adam Frisch confronted Travis, who told him she was about to leave for Russia on business and that a pal was staying in her unit.

Frisch also contacted Paul Nippes, a New Jersey businessman who was listed as a co-signer on Travis’ lease.

“The management of the building has asked me to reach out to you to let you know that they have some very serious concerns about things that are going on in the apartment and are considering eviction proceedings,” Frisch wrote in an April 7 email to Nippes. “I think it would be a good idea for us to speak when you can.”

Frisch then received an email from a “Lana Travi” saying: “Hi! Svetlana had left the apartment in January, what are you talking about?”

In its eviction notice, Contor Associates wrote that Lana Travi was an alias for Svetlana Travis.

According to court records, Travis and Nippes were evicted from another apartment, in Murray Hill, after falling behind on $6,000 in rent.

Nippes could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Spitzer, 56, was accused of flying into a rage and choking Travis — but she then clammed up and flew off to Russia.

The Bronx DA’s Office is investigating the alleged choking case after Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. recused himself, citing close ties to Spitzer.

According to court records, Travis — who wrote a 2014 tell-all article about working as a $5,000-a-night call girl — made similar allegations in an assault suit she filed against another man in 2013.

Spitzer, the infamous “Client 9,” quit as governor in 2008 over a hooker scandal. He has denied choking Travis inside the $1,000-a-night room at The Plaza on Feb. 13.

Lis Smith, a former Mayor Bill de Blasio spokeswoman, broke up with the ex-Love Guv in December when he confessed that Travis tried to squeeze him for cash, her close friend has told The Post.

The 2010 documentary about Eliot Spitzer is now available free (for subscribers) on Amazon Prime. I watched it and thought it was excellent. I even came away from it thinking that some of the charges he brought against Wall Street bankers were a good idea.

Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

And it is always good to take another look at "Ashley Dupre," The Luv Gov's favorite escort. :)

I thought Ashley Dupree was hot at that time. I definitely would have wanted to see her.

CR- I get Amazon Prime and I definitely will watch that documentary. I do think they use actresses for the SPs, didn't they? The redhead they interview in the trailer, I am pretty sure, is an actress, although I wish she was an SP.

Ashley (her real first name) started out at the rookie rate of $1000/hour but like all the girls, her rate went up as she became more popular and received good reviews on TER (That info is from the film).

When Spitzer met her in DC he paid a lot more than $1000, because he paid for her train trip down to DC and then probably spent at least 2-3 hours with her in His room.

He had made a lot of enemies, and like Cuomo, really wasn’t that nice to people. He had told a Democrat representative that he would drive a steamroller over her if she didn’t support a bill. No one at the top, in politics or in business, was going to defend him.
It's true that Spitzer made a lot of enemies, both when he was attorney general and when he became governor. The steamroller remark is mentioned in the film, though Spitzer (a Democrat) made it in reference to Joe Bruno, the Republican leader of the state Senate. Bruno was an ex-boxer and was not the type to back down from anyone.

The film casts doubt on the theory that Spitzer was done in just by someone noticing his transfers of cash (though under the threshold of $10K, they may have aroused suspicion). Though it's never been proven, the film suggests that two enemies of Spitzer from his days as AG, Hank Greenberg-CEO of AIG-and Ken Langone-a board member of AIG and founder of Home Depot- may have helped bring him down. They both hated him for going after AIG during the financial crisis.

In an interview Langone says that "a friend" just "happened" to be standing behind Spitzer when he bought $2K+ worth of money orders at a post office. The "friend" may have actually been a private investigator hired by Langone to trail Spitzer and collect evidence of anything that could be used against him. In any case, somehow the FBI wound up doing an investigation of the Emperors Club VIP (note to EB-yes, the girl who is interviewed is an actress but she is speaking the actual words of an Emperors Club escort). Another enemy of Spitzer was the federal prosecutor who led the case against the agency. Spitzer was never charged but there was no way he could continue as governor because no one would support him. Like Cuomo, his arrogance hurt him in the end.

The person who comes across the best among all the characters is Cecile Suwal, co-owner of the agency. She is attractive, funny, cheerful and she looks back on her experience running an agency as if it were just another of life's adventures.

It's a great story and the film does a great job of covering all the angles.

It has never been clear to me why Spitzer went into politics and why he worked so hard against the interests of his one time peer group. I always assumed that Spitzer was a poor man. He wasn’t, and instead came from a very wealthy real estate family.

I wouldn't classify Spitzer as a member of a "peer group" of Wall Street bankers and big business types. Spitzer was a smart, well educated (Harvard Law) Jewish lawyer whose father made his wealth in real estate. Spitzer's career indicates that he never really aspired to become a wealthy partner at a big NY law firm or to follow in his father's footsteps in the real estate business.

After law school, Spitzer clerked for a federal judge in NY and then spent a couple years as an associate at the NY firm of Paul, Weiss, which is a big NY firm whose founders were Jewish and one that tends to be associated with liberal politics. Spitzer left the firm to work for the NY County district attorney's office. Since Spitzer had access to his father's money, he didn't need to make a lot of money on his own by becoming a law firm partner. He was more interested in politics and power than money. He first realized his political dreams by getting elected as NY attorney general in 1998. From there he was elected governor in 2006. That was supposed to eventually lead to the presidency but well, things didn't quite work out for him. :)

Emperor VIP

By the ways Emperor VIP was an ultra HDH outfit. I checked their website a few times and Mr. Spitzer was likely paying $1500 or more per hour for their ladies. I think the cheapest ladies they had, in a 5 tier price structure, were $1000/hour, and the most were $3000/hour. I hope he was getting some good bang for those bucks.
He doesn't care how much it will cost, just put it on his expenses account and issue a Ck for him at the end of the month. :D
