Hello,

I know, this is Canada not the US.

I was just wondering what do police think of Open carry laws in the US? Are they a fan or not of fan of states that have Open Carry laws.

I'm not directly asking the LE that troll this board to respond but just some thoughts. Do you think police in Open Carry states approve or disapprove of Open carry?

Thoughts?

You can not even closed carry, only LE and security guards can carry open or closed.

Open carry[edit]
Ohio is a traditional open-carry state. The open-carry of firearms by those who legally possess the firearm is a legal activity in Ohio with or without a license. One need not have a concealed handgun license (CHL, CCW) to transport an unloaded handgun in a motor vehicle but it must be secured/contained and located in the vehicle requiring an exit of said vehicle to access it. Ammunition and magazines must be in a separate compartment or holding device. Note: If you have any alcohol in your system above the legal limit it is illegal to possess a firearm in your vehicle or on your person.
It is illegal to carry a handgun in a Class D Liquor permit premises unless you possess a concealed carry permit and are not consuming alcohol. The law doesn't specify if the handgun must be concealed or not.[5]

Disapprove.

That being said - 2nd amendment.

"Little research has been done on the views of open-carry policies among police officers nationwide or even within states, which each regulate guns differently. But studies by two top police organizations in the past year provide some insight.

"In Florida and Texas, where open-carry laws were recently debated in the state legislatures, surveys found that a majority of law enforcement leaders opposed them. Open-carry legislation was defeated in Florida but passed in Texas."
