• As a provider, you might be dealing with tons of idiots, low ballers and time wasters

If you want to get serious about this business:

• Build a website
• Have a social presence
• Become a supporting member on Merb and advertise

There are quite a few indies here who could give you some tips on how to conduct your business and attract better customers.

You can still advertise on LL, but be aware of its drawbacks.

Leolist is pretty much the successor to backpage but a bit better.

There is a way to get "verified" so right away if you check the verified box you remove a lot of scams and garbage advertising. By garbage i mean litterally useless waste of time. For instance someone advertise with the pics of Isabelle Miller, an African-American escort (who may not escort anymore, unsure) but wich is still very present on OF. I see sometimes pics of well known models and pornstars, sometimes with heads cut or blurred but its still obvious its them on the pic and obviously they won't advertise in Montreal for 200$.

But thats not to say Verified is perfect and unverified is only scams. I notice a few verified listing wich look too good to be true and its also possible its really the person on the pic, but does it mean the service will be great or even provided at all? Nope. Verified only mean they verified the pictures. And im sure Leo is likely not gonna go out of their way to find fake pics (aka modified with photoshop or such). Its rather easy for someone with minimal photoshop skills to make a fake pic to be verified.

Now there is also legit escorts who advertise and are not verified. For instance Vandal Vyxen, known pornstar, is really herself and she has been advertising unverified for a while. Mya wich was at Luxury advertise unverified and im pretty sure its her. And for having seen her while she was at Luxury, she provided great services.

BUT IN GENERAL, you can filter a lot of the crap like i said if you only check the verified ads. You still need to "know what you doing". In my case i never booked anyone who only advertise on LL and have 0 record anywhere else. If they have review here or a twitter presence etc then sure. But i need another confirmation source.

I know that merb got a bit of a bad rep with some indies. Its no secret. And im not saying some clients are not to blame. What i gathered from them while complaining about merb is clients being more demanding, sharing sometimes too much in reviews, or even just reviews in general wich they dislike. I can understand their points. But as a guy who started pretty much with merb back then, it stayed my source of "legitness". If a provider advertise here, i know they are real and safe to book. If not they won't advertise long here.

As for me as a client, i like things to be clear, like services provided etc. I will never push any boundaries of course, but i love to know said bounderies before booking because that could very well influence if im booking or not bease on price vs services etc. Not gonna name anyone of course but there is a provider that i would book in a heartbeat if the services were different vs the price asked. But she is clear about what she offer so i respect that. She got the look i love, but not the services. So i don't book and there is no time waste on anyone's part. I notice tough that some indies at the mere mention of what services they provide get a bit offended. Anyway i digrassed a bit there. But hopefully it gives a good picture of merb vs leolist advertising and such.

She's the escort, not the client. While being verified might help her secure more bookings, it doesn't shield her from encountering jerks. Also, I disagree on the pricing, majority of people booking on LL are just looking for cheap options, the competition there is intense, but you get what you pay for. Spending $150 versus $300 sets different expectations. Considering she's new and inexperienced in the industry, and doesn't offer BBBJ, what should her rate be? How can she filter out undesirable clients? And where is the best place for her to advertise?

I gave a breakdown of the whole thing for both sides of the business. I know she is an escort. Yes LL has some "cheap prices" and yes some clients may seek that from there, but i also seen a bunch of 400-500$ escorts advertise there too. Its not reserved for "cheap prices".

Not necessary. Like i said in my post she is free to have her boundaries and do as she want as long as they are disclosed properly. After that clients are free to book or not base on that restriction with the price asked for. In most "reputed agencies" its true that BBBJ is almost a standard. Its rare they advertise someone do safe-gfe but i seen it a few times. Obviously her bookings number could be lower potentially due to that but thats all her to decide. Same as an indy. She may ask a certain price with a certain service, and maybe she will get bookings a lot, maybe she won't. Im not an expert in that. The keyword for me is DISCLOSURE so clients know what to expect.

As a black chubby or BBw or small BBW provider (for those who categories me in that even though I’m definitely not a BBW but whatever lol) I unfortunately don’t have the same experience as most girls in this thread. Literally the entire forum lol!

I started relatively young too in a massage parlour and learn the basics of the work for a few months. Tried a few things like stripper; SB and ended up deciding going Indy. (Never tried agencies because they never accepted my application due to lack of interest of the clients)!

Unfortunately for me I can’t rely on anything else than LL to bring me steady and consistent income.

Part 2 :

The advice I may give you as a newbie will probably to :

1- try and start at a massage parlour.

I feel like it’s less exploitative than an agency : agency you do 250$/h full GFE and you give away probably 50$ for the fees VS massage parlour you can do 160-180$/h no GFE and charge your extras and pay 10-30$ fee.

2- Then talk with the other girls; listen to there stories; you will get better understanding of the business by listening and using the facts!

3- be smart with clients : if you feel like he is pushing your boundaries don’t feel pressured to do it (easy to say than doing).

4- Learn what you want in the industry: are you thinking of doing it long term (5+ years); how much do want to be able to do biweekly or monthly ; are you ready to take the risk of getting an STDs with unprotected oral sex; your level of energy ( are you able to manage hateful comments; deal with time wasters; deal with clients that turn out bad in the long run?);
Are you able to know when it’s time to take a break and breathe before having a burn-out; how much are you putting in a saving account… etc

5- After learn your market: post your ads every where you think it’s not too sketchy (ex : LL have verified ads which makes it less sketch but still not the best ). Post on Merb too; if you have time you can interact in some threads you find interesting and helpful for your business or for your own intellectual growth.
(you can get quickly exhausted by how much things go wrong on here lol! If you are a sensitive person as me or have strong opinions maybe try not to engage in those threads).

6- Have a website; social media presence like twitter; and see what works for you!

7- Count all income and where it comes from to be able to know where you have to invest more time and money to grow bigger.

8- Be patient! I swear that’s the hardest part of it: some weeks are FANTASTIC and some you be wondering if everyone hates you. It takes a big tool on your mental health.

9- Have something outside the industry: you can get quickly addicted to be always on « work mode » and after you get burned out! Try to continue studying if you are; or keep friends outside of the industry to be able to talk and socialize with « normal people »!

10- Regardless what people say you do you ! Nobody will be miserable with you when things are not working out. The fun part is that as an Indy you can play around with your rates and marketing strategy to be able to be where you want to be.

there was a period in my life where i used to scroll endlessly on the local advertizing websites (annonces intimes, annonces 123, backpage, and then leolist a bit). AFAIAC its a waste of time. I have had no desire to check these websites for years now. I recently got curious and re-tried LL and quickly thought, ''still dont like this''.

Pics in profiles are down to earth and it seems there are less scam ads than LL.
