Lots of controversy over this one, they have even lost a sponsor and people are boycotting the games.

It was spectacular despite the weather.....the lighting effects were grandiose.....and what about Céline???....we have to look and applaud the full picture.....and from what i see the fans are all over the games.....et des sites remarquables/incomparables.

If they did the same with Mohamed they would probably be hunted down and burned. I am an atheist so no bother but when they say everyone is supposed to respect the entire alphabet group they should do the same.

Much ado about nothing.

When I was watching (all 4 hours), I didn't even notice there was a scene that was supposed look like a parody of the Last Supper (does anyone even know that the real Last Supper is located in Milan, Italy?).

I noticed the drag queens but that was a very small part of the whole production. And what do you expect if you hire a gay guy to produce the whole show? :D

But really he and everyone involved did a great job. This opening ceremony was unique and a refreshing change from the usual tedium of ceremonies held inside a stadium. The city of Paris, the greatest city in the world, was a wonderful stage. The athletes on the boats seemed to be having wonderful time. Even the rain didn't dampen the spirts of the athletes and performers. C'était Magnifique!

They didn't make fun of any religion, it's religious nuts who made that up because they're looking for reasons to be offended. Bunch of wackos.

The last supper part was nothing to do with religion?

It had nothing to do with the last supper. Some religious snowflakes started the rumor because they couldn't be honest about why they hated the ceremony, they're homophobic.

If they wanted to celebrate with Greek gods they should have used Hercules the son of Zeus to have the correct god.
Pretty sure if a parade was going through the gay village and a float with a straight white family mockind Lord Sparkle Farts there would be an uproar.

It was complete garbage. A vulgar display of narcisit lunatic men. The worst thing is that they actually thought it was clever to do that, and better than what was previously in russia and china. The west is really in a steep decline.

Just a clip I agree with.

From the sublime onto the sacrilegious. The program included drag queens on a fashion catwalk, who assembled themselves after the pattern of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Meanwhile, Dionysius, the Greek god of drunkenness and debauchery appeared. Who knows to what end, other than to make the organizers feel transgressively clever? Jesus gives the chalice to the apostles; Dionysius the god of wine. Get it?

Now for those who still think this has nothing to do with the last supper I have some moon rocks to sell you from the dark side of the moon so they cost a bit more than from the light side.
Gullible is the word of the day, or perhaps fear.

Most of the people who are offended by this probably don't realize that their beloved "The Last Supper" was painted by a gay man.
Those same people are very often homophobic, not to mention transphobic, etc.
They never realize half the stuff they consume comes to them via these "blasphemous" people lol.

I thought the Olympics opening ceremony was actually terrible, one of the worst I've ever seen (at least until the end sequences). Random, cheap-looking, badly orchestrated, and that never-ending fashion show. Just when you thought it would end, they start up again.
I found the last supper parody bit to be a bit tacky and way too literal from an artistic pov, but whatever, I'm glad it got a bunch of religious folk all shook up.

Most people use the word homophobic or transfobic out of context, some people like me don't care who or what someone fucks but gets tired of having to applaud what the alphabet group does. I have a gay couple living across the street from me, they wish the ultra guys who are in these type of shows would just STFU. They say the people who already accept them have no different opinion of them and the people against the alphabet group just pisses them off more as they will not change their minds.
