Hi everyone.

My my dream would be to book a boudoir photo shoot with a model. The problem is I am not a professional photographer. Any idea how I could find a lady willing to do some pics with a beginner? I assume professionals models wouldn’t be interested.

We’re not interested either. This discussion happens sooo often between us lol, I can say that 100% of the girls I know don’t like shooting with amateurs/pervs with a cameras (that’s how we call them often).

I mean, unless you pay the girl, and you use her SD card and she keeps it after, you have very little chances to find someone willing to do it for free and let you keep the pics (because privacy, you know).

Unless you look on tinder or Instagram or something... But forget asking an escort. Most of us are really not interested. Too many horror stories from pervs with cameras lol.

I totally get it that SPs must get "offers" like this a few times a week from guys who think they're being original or generous.
In photography school the profs called them GWCs - Guy (or Girl) With Camera. Amateurs with expensive equipment (and sometimes not even) offering to shoot weddings, corporate shoots, headshots...etc, with no experience or knowledge or understanding of lighting or technique.
Under these circumstances I like Julia's "Pervs with cameras" better :-D
I shoot products, not people, so I have never used such a service but if you're serious about practicing the artistic aspects of this type of photography then there are a number of websites that cater to photographers of all levels who are looking for models. Do a websearch for "hire models for photography" or some such. Model Mayhem is probably the most popular. They offer models of all different looks and experience levels. No idea what their rates are like or their terms and conditions but you can get this info on their website. I would assume that for obvious models' safety reasons you'd need to jump through a few hoops to prove you're not an axe murderer, before a complete stranger agrees to show up on a shoot and take her clothes off in front of you.
Another avenue to consider: legit photography programs at most colleges and universities, and even some camera stores that offer courses (Lozeau in MTL, Henry's in Ott), will bring in models for "fashion" type shoots for students to get studio practice if that's what you're looking for.
If it's something that interests you enough, spending a few hundred $$ on a course could be a great investment.

And the fact that OP said it was his dream...that makes me believe that he wants to use the photos for personal use if you know what I mean

Stormn - "Guy with camera" is still a thing, as far as I know.

Model mayhem may let you do Time for Prints as a way to learn, depends on if they are also just starting out. Take a course is the best bet. And look, a lot of people will say no even if you offer to pay them because GWC is such a thing that they just don't want to take the risk or deal with the hassle.

In Vegas they have boudoir salons for guys that want to take pics of naked ladies or if you prefer bring your own fatty and take pics.

Interesting views!

I shoot hundreds of people every year. Clothes or not, the list of condition to meet in order to obtain prime quality shots is very long. You may get lucky because factors play in your favour into a given context, but the rest of the time photography is troubleshooting issues/constraints. If you don’t understand what you are trying to solve there is no way you can do it on the spot.

Shooting indoors either with flash or not, you probably have better chances with a phone than a dslr. Dslr are so precise that if you are not exactly on the optimal settings, you’re off. It doesn’t forgive. Just to figure how to bounce the flash and diffuse the light is time-consuming even if you know what you’re doing.

There are so many aspects to deal with. Even when you tackle most of them properly, posing is another monster. There is lot of good tutorials available including for posing. But at the end of the day there’s way too much things to remember. I find that the best conditions are that I deal with photography and the model deals with posing on its own. You can give some insights but posing is the skill set of models much before photographers.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but say a beginner would pay someone to model, the girl is going to be bored and desperate while the guy will be anxious because nothing works and time flies. That’s a simple way to put it but I don’t wanna write a novel here.

My recommandation is to build up your skills along with a portrait portfolio. Not for boudoir indeed. This way you’ll have much more opportunities to practice and improve. Don’t think short term and challenge your weaknesses.

When you get to the point where people are literally willing to pay for your work, then you arrive at square one. Photography and persuasion skills do not come in pairs. It helps if you have something to showcase.

I may actually do a shooting soon with someone in the business. She is willing but I am not sure if I want. For various reasons but one is that you can’t rush this. Three hours is a short session for instance. We’re talking about half a day at least. But most importantly, it is so much work for the photographer plus it takes place at an unknown venue. You definitely want take days, weeks or months if needed to refine a setup into which you bring a model.

There is much more to say but I wrote a lot already. Hope this helps.

Tip: You can use an Halloween prop like a zombie or something to make your tests.

its entirely possible Detfolk. meaning nothing more than the obvious - depends on the girl.

not quite sure what you mean by 'with a model' but based on the replies everyone is responding as if you wanna take photos with a agency girl / indy.

again, depends on the girl and their comfort level toward YOU. someone who youve seen more than just the initial meet up though, typically (but not always.)

if i am interested in her look i would ask her after knowing her.

but i cannot tell if youre wanting just a one off, though you prob are.

i can recall only one instance where i asked during my first meeting. she was okay with it as long as she looked at each one, no prob there. again ymmv.

**now i might add, it was just a couple that i wanted of the back, silohuette.. more of a glam pose than anything, clothed very stylish was all i was interested in**

she asked me what im gonna do with it, pause....." jerk off?"

"no" i said.

and that is a honest answer, not that i dont, but it isnt often that i do, but i dont need those photos for that, maybe if when i was 18 yrs old.
The fun was taking them, i havent ever looked at them once.

her answer btw? "its normal" (to be jerking off to pics)

of the few times i had enough interest in her look to ask, i have yet to be denied.

I understand the privacy issue obviously. But it's a much more relaxed scene in Central and South America.

In my trips there I took photos many times. It wasn't usually planned, when I would bring a girl back to my hotel it would just occur to me that I'd like to take a few pics of her in different positions. At least 50% of the time they would agree. Some would request to not show their face. Always clothed - I think that is sexier. It can be a lot of fun if the girl is into it. A few times they wanted to take a pic of me or of us together - I always declined lol.

You're obviously not a model and don't like the camera. Ans that's fine, it's not for everyone. But photographers have to start somewhere and learn... Besides, many women actually like being photographed, I've been doing photography for 20 years and met many of them.

However, I agree with "once un a while". Photography can get very technical very quickly, between the lighting, camera operation and settings, framing properly and directing the model. I too would advise taking a beginner course and focusing in portrait to stay l start with. A nude or lightly dressed woman feels very vulnerable in front of your camera so if you want your photos to be any good, you must learn to master the technicalities so much that you can forget about them during the shoot to be able to focus on your model and creating a great image together.

There are many beginner models on MM as well who need to learn their trade and will greatly work (clothes to start with!) with a learning photographer.

Above all, take your time and enjoy the learning. There is a fine line between an amazing image and a boring shot of someone naked on a bed. Learning the difference takes time. Look at sites such as suicidegirls.com for inspiration. Many amateurs there but also fun and creative boudoir photography from people thinking outside the box.

I actually like the camera and photography, thanks for assuming and the cute little hint that I’m ugly lmao!! Perv with a camera is definitely a thing and many, many, many escorts would agree with me. That’s why we generally pick our photographers very carefully and are wary of amateurs who specifically seek us as opposed to us seeking them.

Never said you were ugly Julia, I have no idea, never met you and did not mean it to insult you. Some people are just more camera shy and some other actually like to be seen, even by pervs.

The thing that bothers me however is assuming that all beginner photographers who want to do boudoir or nude photography are pervs... That's a bit of a shortcut and something we all struggle with when we start doing photography. Probably you'll agree that saying that all escorts are victims of human trafficking and should be saved is a simplification and it's likely getting on your nerves. Likewise thinking all male photographers doing boudoir are pervs is a cliché, no pun intended... (or actually... why not! fully intended then!).

To make a good photo, you have somehow to like your subject. If you photograph a salad and you hate veggies, difficult to make them look tasty! Showcasing what is beautiful about your subject in a way where the viewer will perceive it as much as you do is also the challenge in photography. I've done a photography exhibition about people with disabilities, for example: you have to showcase what is uniquely beautiful about each of them to make it shine in the photo. I'm not saying people with disabilities are not beautiful, but they frequently do not fit the fashion magazines-type criteria for beauty.

Any photographer taking a picture of you has to be somewhat interested in you as a subject, otherwise the result is pretty lame. Call this excitation, perversion, eroticism, or whatever, but that's a fact. Otherwise, you get a mechanical tasteless photo. So, what's the difference between a perv and a photographer? Maybe one is less experienced and the other more jaded? As long as they will not assault you or harass you, let's be clear that this is unacceptable.

Who cares really if the person pressing the trigger on the camera has a little thrill, the bottom line is: is this a good photo!

That being said, this is about Detfolk wanting to do a boudoir photo-shoot and I wish him patience and also good luck.

She assumes they are pervs because of experience. Playing percentages. Obviously all of them aren't pervs, but it is perfectly normal for someone to assume they are until they have reason not to.

Look behind you.
I have a fully updated S-9 and PhD in cameraology plus my shutter finger is licensed. I recognize myself as a 27 yr old lesbian so the ladies should be comfortable. Looking to shoot lesbian scenes, will not charge.
PM me to set up a time ( time slots are getting full, pm ASAP. )

I'm not a shutterbug. The most I have ever done is ask if the girl will pose for a few pictures before or after our session just as a memento for my private use. I don't see why a guy that pays 230$/hour to take photos of an escort is a perv with a camera. Why is this guy a perv with a camera and not ok and me and my requests for role play and sexual demands ok? I guess I'm a perv without a camera? What's the difference? A pervs a perv. Without pervs there would be no market for escorts I guess?

The difference is when we go for a photoshoot we expect professionalism. I’m not getting paid to be a whore when I do a photoshoot so I expect not to be treated like one, regaress if how slutty my pics are. I’m not saying every photographer is a perv, of course not. Im saying we have to be careful and pick our photographer as opposed to them picking us because there are sadly far too many that aren’t professional. When I say perv, I’m not talking about "finding her sexy". I’m talking about the countless guys who will be like "oh wow that one pose gave me a boner!" or "Hey so this is really turning me on can we have sex when it’s done?" or who touch the girl very inappropriately under the disguise of "wanting to help her pose". In the last year alone I’ve heard all of this happening to different girls. I’ve heard of a guy withholding the pictures because the girl wouldn’t have sex with him. I’ve heard of someone getting pissy and deleting the pictures because he had a disagreement with the girl. I’ve heard and seen a guy post pics of a girl with her face on his website without her permission. I’ve heard of guys selling nudes without permission.

So of course not every photographer is a perv or unprofessional, but we definitely have reasons to be careful. You read reviews before booking a girl don’t you? Well, we research when choosing a photographer, too.
