The more I think about it the more I think it's a very bad trade. Weber was a dominant player but already showed signs of slow down last year. Also he was playing for a team where fans accept mistake on the ice (or do not even recognized it ;) ). Weber is not the best at one on one. And not the best at getting the puck out of the zone. Area where Subban was awsome. How Weber will react in crazy hockey town like Montreal? Subban was brillant under pressure, Weber may tank.

Cheers,

You guys realize that Habs have Weber under contract until 2026, right?

I do not understand that trade at all to be honest. Paying 12m/yr to a sniper in his 30's is a dangerous game.

While stay at home defensemen typically age gracefully, offensive D tend to fall off a cliff around this age.

Short-term the habs won this trade. Webber is a better overall player and he's a leader, something PK never will be. Think Phil Kessel. There will also be a whole lot of happier players in the dressing rooms and because of this their play may be improved. The trade also cleared some money from the cap and helped them sign Radulov.

Look, PK is a man-child who some said was out-of-control once Price went down. He was never a team player and it was always PK first. Once his no-movement clause kicked in,he would have been harder to control. Habs knew this and were aware of how half the players (or more) felt about him. He had to go and to their surprise one of the top defencemen in the league fell on their lap. They did their best out of a tough situation and pulled the trigger.

Has anybody heard what Shea Weber thinks of the trade? He seems to be quiet. Coming to a place where you pay more income tax and have to deal with more media. Don't think he's jumping with joy. Can't wait to see how this plays out. Montreal also didn't make the playoffs last season.

I had heard that he was shocked to be traded and likely still hasn't got over the shock. I's also be willing to bet that he's extemely disappointed to have been traded and isn't looking forward to playing under the microscope in the Montreal zoo, where every single move he'll make and word he'll say will be analyzed.

Welcome to the Montreal soap opera, Shea! You better brace yourself!

p.s. On the other hand, fellow BC boys Carey Price and Brendan Gallagher are overjoyed to have Webber on their team next season. Webber and Price also train together during the off-season.

Given the controversy and the blockbuster nature of this trade there will be ENORMOUS pressure on Weber! The scrutiny of his play in this town will be unbearable!

Exactly! And imagine for Bergevin and the coach (as Therrien could simply not stand Subban) if Webber does not perform!

Can't perform any worse than the very overrated and overpaid Subban, who's personality had become absolutely unbearable around the team. The team would have had to give him ritalin on a daily basis!

Sometimes guys like this just coming into their prime go to a new team and new lockerroom and new system and their talent explodes and their personality matures. Look at what happened to Josh Donaldson once he got out of Oakland, he is now one of the better players in baseball. In hockey look at what happened to Phil Esposito after the Blackhawks traded him to Boston, a team that had personnel that could augment his talents. That trade happened just as Espo hit his prime. From all I read Nashville has a system better suited for Subban's talents which were suppressed in Montreal. As far as the lockerroom stuff sometimes age and maturity and even the fact of a trade leads to changes. If Subban meets a nice girl in Nashville gets married and has some kids maybe he will settle down and the talent will explode. The trade may have been good for both teams.

Wasn't Josh Donaldson an MVP runner-up while he was in Oakland?

So the guy host a show yesterday at Just for Laugh festival! He was pretty good everyone said.

He did mention that in the USA he will try to stay away from the Police! Haha the guy is great! He will be the most popular US hockey player pretty soon. Fucking shame we sent him away. In montreal our SP are hot and kinky but our hockey player are blend dull.

Cheers,
