Poutine? Yay or Nay?

Poutine is yay for me but depends on from where. There's alot of good and bad poutine you gotta know where to go.

I totally agree.
Although I am not a fan of Banquise, they have a very wide range of poutines to choose from (different kinds of spices, meats, veggies, etc.. added to the cheese/gravy/fries combo) which a lot of people appreciate.

My favourite of all time is the Galvaude poutine which consists of gravy/fries/cheese+chicken and green peas!!!!! WITH MAYO (one portion of each on the fork...).....i refused to touch it initially, but it was shoved in my mouth by a loving boyfriend and...... omg to die for, but reserve minimum 3 hours to digest afterwards....ahhhhhhh heaven.

I eat poutine roughly twice a year however, like Igna mentionned, it is most enjoyable when you are really in the mood (like anything really). All of you guys should at least try it....come on, I know it doesn't LOOK appetizing, but mind over matter......aside from the few comments I've heard here, I've never heard of anyone not liking it, even if they don't think it's great.

Nay for the health benefits, unfortunately.
Some places make a great poutine and some not so much. As someone already stated, you can use whatever sauce you want, so there is no real right answer to the OP's question.
Some get really dressed up with the italian style, or added chicken or pork, etc.

After the hot-dog, the hamburger, the Big Mac, the french fries, the french fries with brown sauce, what was missing to the world to make it a divine place was poutine.
So for me it is a definitive Yeah!

Last Saturday - as I was eating out with a couple of Brazilians friends visiting Montreal - we spoke about the Québécoise ''cuisine''. I explained to them that one of the specialities of that cuisine is the poutine. Doing my best to describe to them what is a poutine, the wife of my friend said that it reminds her of a batata brava.

I didn't know what is a batata brava even if I guess from the meaning of the words what it could look like. I made a quick search this morning and I found a picture of a batata brava: it's not like at poutine at all because there's lacking the greasy gravy. A batata brava is made of (baked) potatoes, garlic, bacon and catupiry (which is a Brazilian cheese).

I don't like poutine at all because when I eat a meal I like variety in my plate: eating a poutine is eating the same thing from the beginning to the end. Poutine, cream soda...what's next? Mae West or pouding chomeur. Enjoy our gastronomy...

A local humorist has refered to poutine as "Une patate qui a la grippe". Basically fries with the flu. Poutine grew out of the old "patate sauce". Basically fries with salty brown gravy. Add curd cheese and voila "poutine". I have had it once. It is okay. I prefer my fries with salt and a bit of ketchup.

Is quédille as disgusting as poutine? I have never had a guédille and I probably wont...my stomach is not a dump. The word guédille brings to my memory words my father was saying when as I child my nose was running (Hey, t'as de la guédille au nez fiston)

Tell me how is guédille?
