"In Montreal, authorities said an elderly homeless man found dead on Friday in a snowbank only steps away from two shelters likely died from exposure."
Here is another article, far more extensive, on this unfortunate being's demise, and a broader view of the situation. This holiday season,
don't look away. If you have enough money to pay someone to fuck/blow/masturbate you, you probably have enough to hand over some cash to the Old Brewery, Sally Anne or directly to a homeless person.
Frankly, I'd like to do more. I'm certain there are those among us who would like to contribute to making the world slightly less lousy, I'm thinking out loud here, but could not the merb
community, providers and clients alike, do some sort of fund raising on this board to make a significant charitable donation?
I'll start. I'll put down $100 towards a donation to be split between Old Brewery and Accueil Bonneau and 25 cents matching funds against anyone else's verifiable contributions. So you put in $100, I'll throw in another $25.
I'm not sure how we can get a third party to handle this, but I'm sure if there is enough response (perhaps best in another thread) we can figure something out. Maybe MERB itself can help out.
Overlooked 'in a city of many eyes'

Early yesterday, as late-night revelers scurried from bars to cars and cabs to escape a punishing cold, and travelers departed for holiday sojourns to the homes of loved ones, a Montreal man with no home to go to was found dead in Viger Park near the downtown core, his frozen corpse draped in a shroud of freshly fallen snow.
Montreal police said there were no signs of violence on the 61-year-old homeless man found by officers at 1:30 a.m. near Viger Ave. and Berri St. He's believed to have died of natural causes, said Constable Raphaël Bergeron of the Montreal police.
An autopsy is being performed. No name was released, but media reports identified the man as André Gagnon, who was last seen at the Old Brewery Mission on Dec. 10. He is said to have been an occasional visitor at the Mission.
