Hi All,
I decided to post this because of an article I read on bigdoggie on Canada. I would post this on bigdoggie but I am not a member, if anyone here who is a member please feel free to post this there. This is a little known fact that most Canadian's don't know. But yes prostitution is legal in Canada; it has always been legal (Since the 1800's). Canada's prostitution law is similar to British law and laws in much of Europe. However there are limits and this is what is important to know.
The act of exchanging sex for money in the privacy of one’s home or hotel is perfectly legal, a cop cannot arrest you for that. However there are limits, here are some
1) Soliciting for sex is not legal, this law was brought in because people didn’t want street prostitutes walking around there neighborhoods. Plus the idea is that this also attracted drugs and criminals.
2) Bawdy Houses are not legal. A bawdy house is a place kept, occupied or used by at least one person for the purposes of prostitution or indecent acts. So if you’re at Grand Prix or other places that offer full service and the place gets raided while you’re in the booth you will get arrested.
3) Procuring and living off the income of prostitution. In other words pimping is not legal.
4) The sexual procurement and purchasing sex from children and youth. For obvious reasons.
