What is generally accepted as The Right Thing To Do if an SP comes to the door and you can just tell it isn't going to happen with that particular lady at that particular time? Maybe your mood's changed in the time it took for her to get to you. Maybe there's something about her look or the vibe just isn't right.

Pay 50% (less? more?) and send her on her way?

$20 seems to be the hobby standard. But I guess that would depend on the reason you're returning the merchandise. There could be times when $0 is warranted.
