All I suggested was creating a specific category for “intimacy” or “social-based” services instead of lumping everything together. Searching for SPs is already long and exhausting - area, budget, fit, donations, restrictions, booking policies etc.

A dedicated category would simplify things for both clients and providers. Not every SP has a 2-hour minimum, and most men aren’t looking for that. Many stop hobbying altogether because it’s too complicated and financially inaccessible - especially when a 2-hour social meet runs $750+. They will be turned off and try tinder instead.

And yeah, maybe I sounded annoyed - but that’s because she imposed her way like it’s the new industry standard. It’s not. People are allowed to disagree. Getting your feelings hurt over that doesn’t justify dragging it out or stirring more drama on socials for validation.

That thread is closed. I already answered your question and won’t keep going in circles (unlike some). I just needed to make it clear: berating someone online simply because they don’t agree with a thread is childish. Add to that having my words twisted and being name-dropped - not exactly fun.

You describe it as no one being able to find an SP. If someone wants a one hour or shorter provider there are 24 providers on the first page here. 23 of them offer an hour or shorter. All of the providers have different rates. I don't see how anyone is priced out. Like every industry all services have different prices. There are people with lower and higher rates than you on merb and elsewhere.

If a few different providers had long social dates in Montreal recently maybe you were one of the clients. Imgur is an option for sharing pictures on here also. It's awesome how taking a provider shopping and other activities are so much cheaper in Montreal than in NYC, Toronto, LA, Seattle, Bay Area, etc.

There's always going to be people charging different rates. I personally don't have the intention to remove my hour long option and to raise my hourly rate to like 500$ anytime soon, but I understand why some providers do and it doesn't ruin my business that certain people charge more or have a 90 minute minimum..

This week I had 2 x 12 hour bookings. But this weekend I have a 45 minute session, and 2 regular hourly sessions, along with 2 hour appointments. I wouldn't cancel a hour long booking if another client offered something longer.

I also don't feel like individual providers should be held responsible for why "many stop hobbying".. things change and maybe the industry isn't suitable for certain people's needs anymore. Maybe some are afraid that things will become like in the US where a lot of people's rates are very high and services like bbbj and dfk are not the norm, but I don't think this is happening right now.

Here are other issues I see more worth bringing up: the bad economy leading to a hike in rent & prices & people's rates, websites like tryst, EI and leolist not filtering profiles, scams, people trying to get unsafe services from providers (and often trying to subtly inquire about them...) which leads to some people casually offering them, laws that criminalize clients, stigma against clients of providers (some of you call it client bashing, and I agree that it's a problem if it's unfounded)

There are also different types of clients just like there are different types of providers. If I'm not offering anal and PSE doesn't mean I don't like my clients and I don't want to give clients what they want.. I'm just not the right provider for the type of client looking for that experience and what's wonderful is that others are.

If everyone had the exact same offering it would be way harder for people to stand out. It's great that different people adopt different personas and run their business differently because that's what this is. It's a business.

I hope you know that I agree with all of that. Also I would add the fact that leolist charges providers a lot more than it did before. Also it's awful that it's getting harder for providers to travel internationally safely than before due to border changes though this started before 2020. Before 2020 a provider who is not in the province of Quebec and had her face blurred in all photos was going to a family event in the US (not even planning to work) and got banned from Canada at the border and turned back. Her case is the exception not the norm as international tours still exist but yeah a lot of people (who are not providers) don't realize how much pressure is on providers.

Yes, the advertising platforms charging a lot is another issue, particularly leolist because it's not a monthly price. You are also not guaranteed to get a client if you bump your ad on leolist, particularly if you screen or ask for deposits. According to many providers, in the past you could advertise for free and get clients.. You also didn't need to have a ton of social media accounts to promote yourself.

I know some people will not want to ask so here is one

Oh, by the way, here's a tip for providers who want more bookings that are over an hour long if you are struggling to get them currently : try to lower your rates for longer bookings. For example, I charge 340$h but I don't charge 680$ for 2 hours, I charge 560, which is pretty much what agencies charge for that amount of time. It really helps!

I also saw some people make fun of providers who offer discounts and specials once in a while, and I understand that from an outside perspective it looks like the person is desperate, but the fact is that it's a marketing tactic. A lot of successful businesses offer discounts once in a while, for example around the holidays. It's controversial to offer a discount as a provider for valid reasons, and I am not offering one anytime soon.. It's not something that works for me.

I've experimented with discounts once in a while just to see what would happen, I basically just offered services at older rates of mine for a very short period of time. This isn't because I was desperate, I just wanted to see if it would work.. While it wasn't super successful like I said, it did attract clients who weren't sure if they wanted to book me or not. Some of them came back and paid the full rate, some became repeat clients and they didn't wait for another discount to book me. Some didn't come back, but I was glad I was able to provide a great experience to someone who couldn't afford my full rate.

I know there is a controversial practice of providers offering discounts in exchange for good reviews.. While this is none of my business, I don't know what my opinion on it is.. lol and this wasn't the purpose of me offering discounts once every 3-4 months at some point. But while none of my positive reviews were written by gentlemen who got a discount, I have a feeling that guys who write a lot of reviews will feel tempted to book you if you offer a discount because seeing a lot of providers is expensive and if you are charging a little bit lower your rate can fit in this person's budget.

I'm still working on my marketing skills and my branding, so take this advice with a grain of salt..

Having to run multiple social media accounts and keep up a curated public persona seems so painful to me.
