If I were Canadian, I might offer to "come out" as a client. I don't give a shit what people think of me. But, right now, I would like to be able to cross the border. The laws in the US are much more strict. One of these days, people!
Much respect for Amelie, speaking out and taking ownership of your decisions. Was touched by what you mentioned and many commenters here are talking about - it's one thing to become an SP because of financial need, which is already a difficult and courageous move. But, to succeed and excel in this profession? Like Johnybird and christ have said, you're going to need to find and develop your intellect and other character strengths to do that. In one sense, you are the female version of what we expect and demand of male athletes: your body is your work, you risk harm and take a physical and psychological toll from job stresses, mistreatment and attempted exploitation and the changing relationships with those around you, and you need extreme mental toughness to survive, compete, and prosper. Absolutely! Speaking from the point of view of a provider who feels she cannot "come out" for personal reasons, Amelie's gesture is absolutely appreciated. Especially in today's political climate, we need strong women like her to be the voice of willing sex workers.
