Bad Boy says I got this Bagel at Beauty's luncheonette in Westmount. He also had one - cinnamon raisin with lox, this is mine - everything with lox and cream cheese:

Does look like Beauty's, but definately not in Westmount. Beauty's is an instituion in Montréal, opened since 1942, never changed location. Newly renovated it re-opened recently, 93 avenue du Mont-Royal O.

The photo was taken on May 4, 2019 as I posted above. iPhones do not lie when they tell you a pic was taken in Lower Westmount. I think that location may be considered Lower Westmount by iPhones. If it got the geography wrong file your complaint to Apple.

That was my last trip to Montreal. When I texted Bad Boy he remembered what he ordered as well.

Speaking of Westmount, there's a great kinda 50s style diner in Westmount called Chez Nick's.

They got good breakfast there and it's very Anglophone there. I feel like I'm in Ontario there lol

I have been curious for years as to where Beautys might source their bagels from. They dont appear to me to be from St V or Fairmount or Beaubien

Crudessence, Aux Vivres, Panthère verte.

It depends on what the occasion is. I would say that Crudessence is more high end. The 2 others are more "granola/hipster" kinda places.
Oh how I miss Crudessence! That pesto lasagna and that kale salad that comes with it. Too bad Crudessence closed as during the winter time business was literally non existent as it was some thing more interested by tourists. It was just too ahead of its time. First time I had a lasagna and was full of energy afterwards and not sluggish.

Aux Vivres is another gem. Never was into vegan food until I visited these two establishments. The Dragon Sauce and bacon tempeh. Personally I prefer the Westmount location.

Here are some favourites, though they aren't necessarily in touristy part of town:

- Le Vin Papillon (Little Burgundy)
- Mon Lapin (Little Italy)
- Beba (Verdun)
- Club Chasse et Pêche (Old Montreal)

They're all on the higher end, but very good.

Here is the breakfast you described. I ordered it at BL in August 2016. I was staying in Griffintown at that time, but in a property on the south side of the canal. I took that bridge over the canal and walked up to Notre Dame for this breakfast. Note the thick, fatty bacon. If any of you guys have blockages in your arteries, I do not think this type of dining will help that situation.. But it is hearty.

Best part of that lunch is the beer.
English cuisine for me is very disappointing tasteless and without spices.
I have been to England many times on business and was taken to many expensive restaurants and found the food bland tasteless and mediocre for the most part, the cutlery however was exquisite and top grade silver with countless forks, knives, waiters were dressed as if they were invited to the Queens wedding, the food however sucked.
Best food I ever had in England was when I got lost in Sheffield near the University after visiting a few pubs and stumbled into a family owned Italian restaurant where the owners wife did all the cooking and he had some of his home made wine. Was never able to find that place again memory fades after the fifth pub. The beer however I can say was always top notch in England.

Other than an Aston Martin or their bespoke suits not a fan of anything coming out of England and anything British. Especially their disgusting cuisine.
