Met a person this morning who has retired and decided to stay at all-inclusives and cruise ships. She is at the end of her 3 months here and it cost her $1,300 a month, she will head back to Ottawa to visit her kids then off somewhere else for 2 or 3 months. She seems to enjoy it, says she meets lots of people and far cheaper than retiring in Canada. Doesn't sound bad to me but personally I get bored quickly, 5 days here and kind of glad to be leaving tomorrow. Never done a cruise ship, perhaps when my mobility gets hampered.
I could easily stay at a cabin in the woods with a nearby lake though with a couple of dogs and a female who is in the same frame of mind.

Hotel Grand Muthu in Cayo Guillermo Cuba. Met 3 Mexicans who flew to Havana and took a bus here, they paid $54 a day. My 5 day trip from Montreal was $640 which most is airfare.

Could you share your advice on how to find such cheap airfare and all inclusives? I have been dying to go on vacation, but don't wanna throw 1500$ at it.

I book through Red Tag travel and mostly last minute. For this trip I booked on a Thursday and left Sunday morning. I travel solo lately and Cuba has no extra single supplement charge, if I was to go somewhere other than Cuba the cost would be double. Do extensive research in trip advisor, this place is actually very good, food for Cuba was pretty good and the only shortage they had was no soda but I expected some and brought a 24 of coke
zero, some muffins and cereal bars.
The place is probably only 50% full, the resort beside is empty.
The beach picture is about 400m down in front of the empty resort.

In Punta Cana you can find hotels for $2000/month, considering the meals-alcohol-show-activities included, it's a good deal, you can change hotels every month.
