You are aware that if NATO steps in, on whatever forms it will lead to the 3rd world war? With Putin's open threat to all nation surrounding him it could easily degenerate and then becomes very tempting to nuke some cities. Also not to forget, China is just around the corner, probably on the prowl for Taiwan and maybe other parts of the china sea.

It is getting interesting. There is now multiple evidence that low rank Russian officers and soldiers are often sabotaging orders, abandoning equipment, and refusing to engage Ukrainian troops. Putin soon can face his army marching back to get him.

What motivation Russian troops have? Protecting lavish stile of Putin and his cronies? The Russian propaganda would have hard time to maintain its side of the story when soldiers encounter hostile Ukrainian population treating them as occupiers not liberators. There is no language barrier so this can go quick if Ukrainians play their cards right.

The timing of this invasion seems odd, to be honest. The invasion would have gone over much better during Trump's term since Trump would have just laid out the red carpet for Putin, like he always does. Trump would have made some flimsy excuse to abandon NATO allies, just like he did with the Kurds. And the Republican party would have just cheered him on.
So maybe Putin is dying from some terminal disease - he is 70, after all...and wants to secure some legacy. Guess he's not going to get it now.
