Sin tax in Alberta.

Not only does Quebec beat all places for the best and most affordable escorts it kicks ass in other areas. Alberta has a sin tax that is supposed to assist in having people quit drinking and smoking, we all know that is BS, it just means less food on the table for some families. Anyways in a recent study a case ( 12 ) of Coors banquet in Alberta costs $30.59 ( taxes and deposit included ) while the same in Quebec is $16.99. Cigarettes, I recently picked up 2 ( 25 packs ) and the cost was just under $30, I do not smoke but I think I see a 25 pack advertised at under $10.00????
Alberta's new budget is about to go through and the prices will go up again. Add that to Quebec's $7.00 a day daycare ( a friend of mine has a son who pays $1,250.00 a month for 2 kids ) and that is a huge plus to have. On the downside a person making $100,000.00 a year in Alberta pays $6,000.00 less in income tax than a person in Quebec.
If I had kids, smoked and drank plus visited escorts Quebec would be my choice ( other than the fact that Montreal is a fabulous place and plenty of Quebeckers are friendly ), double income no kids and no life Alberta would be my choice ( until the price of oil crashed plenty of jobs ).

Gas went up 4 cents a litre in Calgary Friday for new tax revenue. Smokes will likely be $1.50 a pack more. Provincial income tax will increase for sure. It is breakup and lots of rigs will be shutting down until maybe November if prices don't improve and thousands of field and office workers have been laid off. Not great times for Alberta. I will be fortunate to keep my position past May.

Quebec(Montreal in particular) is the greatest place on earth, beautiful women, great shopping, nice restaurants etc, all at your disposal, where else can you go shopping, after you are done shopping you can go to a nice restaurant for a nice meal and then call a dating agency for a beautiful girl to come over to watch a movie and eat popcorn together to finish off the night, no where else but Montreal.:thumb:

Alberta(was) good for making good money fast with little or no education, that's were it ends, it's a boring province with snobbish, cold, unfriendly people, just try saying hi to a nice girl in Alberta compared to saying hi to a nice girl in Quebec, no comparison, also their strip clubs suck, I'm sure that you would agree Sol.

I would really like to see Alberta. I think of that Gordon Lightfoot "Alberta Bound."

However, I'm with Joe T. I love Montreal. Too many Americans want to apply the Parisian stereotype to the Quebecois which is BS. The streets are relatively safe, the food is good, there is plenty of lodging....and what am I forgetting...Oh yes, you can't swing a cat without hitting a beautiful Quebecois girl. Also, I honestly believe that the SPs in Montreal, overall, provide the best GFE service.

My second favorite place is Brasil - especially the bar called The Balcony on Atlantica Ave in Rio De Janeiro. I love the Termas scene there too and the escorts hanging outside the cars.

My third favorite place is next to the bar where the Hungarians sit at the Oase FKK in Burgholzen Germany

My fourth favorite place is probably Patong Beach, Thailand. Go for a jog in the morning and have pedicure foot massage, full body massage with a happy ending for IDK 30-50$ and then at night pick up an SP and for about 100$ evening she will put a smile on your face that could not be removed with a crowbar!

Have to agree Joe, in the last 9 months there has been a knee jury reaction by the oil companies, this is a reset as some people were making far too much money ( kids were dropping out of high school to drive a rock truck for 80 k a year. Contractors who were charging far too much for their services. New comers are going to get a reality check and the ones who did not get greedy should weather the storm.
I was brought up in Edmonton and thought not bad, moved to Calgary and thought better, moved to Ottawa and was not impressed, semi moved to the Montreal area and Wow... This is nice. Great place to hang your hat so the spring/summer.

what does piss me off though is that the fucked up politicians blew all the money, get paid the most in Canada and do not have the ballS to tighten spending or admit their fuck up.. They just raise taxes to try and make up the short fall.

I'm not accountant but I think your numbers are a bit off. Alberta's tax is 10% whereas Quebec is 25.75% at 100k. Don't forget the 15% sales tax here vs. 5% in Alberta. I just got all these numbers from internet sources. I'm not here to argue since I don't check the board that often but the numbers you presented are very skewed, as if you pay a bit more but you get so much more back in terms of cheaper alcohol, cigarettes, escorts and daycare. Furthermore it's as if all those benefits you receive are being paid for by that 6000 dollar difference. That's not true, look at Quebec's debt, the Quebec provincial debt is 181 billion dollars whereas Alberta's is 11 billion. Now you factor in that Quebec receives almost 8 billion in equalization payments, this should give you an idea of how badly Quebec overspends. Not only does Quebec have a history of overspending, it's receiving money from other provinces to provide services that those provinces themselves don't provide.

Anyways, I've been in Montreal for 10 years and really enjoy it here but just look at the numbers.

If you read my post I said if you were a family man who smoked and drank plus saw escorts Quebec is the place to be. If you wanted to make lots of money and live with a girl and have no kids, no outside life Alberta would be the place. Another added note: percentage of people making 100,000 or more is higher in Alberta.
And yea I know about the PST you have here and yes I know that a have not province who gets 8-9 billion in equalization payments should not be giving the benefits that Quebec does, it is what pisses off the rest of Canada. No other province offers that due to the extreme cost, guessing if Alberta was allowed to keep the 7 billion they put in they may be able to afford something like Quebec offers.

For fiscal year 2013-14, Alberta government programme spending was $11,920 per capital - highest in the country. Quebec government programme spending per capita was $7,888 - lowest in the country.

It would be nice to see a link for your numbers but Alberta has to spend more due to the extra infrastructure, schools and hospitals for all the new people moving there every year. Personally I know of no luxuries that Albertans get that compare to Quebecs cheap education, daycare, smokes, alcohol and senior care ( senior care is not a luxury but the extra care Quebeckers get is very nice ). ( Please note what they are )

Alberta had about 4 million people so spending is about 48 billion.
Quebec has about 8 million people so spending is about 63 billion.

Not sure if you mean these are just for programs of some sort of total government spending. Both numbers look high to me if they are just for programs.

I was quoting the marginal tax rates so your average tax rates is accurate. I also looked and Quebec's provincial debt is actually 200 billion dollars.

In 2011, Alberta had about 300,000 provincial government sector workers (provincial, municipal, healthcare, schools) drawing wages and salary of about $18 billion (average of $60,000 per worker). In 2011 Quebec had about 750,000 provincial government sector workers earning about $31 billion (about $41,000 per worker).

Agreed, that is one of my biggest beefs with the Alberta government is their high wages. The mayor of Calgary I think is the highest paid in Canada. I am all for privatization of all public works departments ( street cleaning, parks maintenance etc ). The taxpayers savings would be huge.
