Smoking in hotel rooms...........

I am curious about hotels that are smoke free, they have smoke alarms for fires and all, i am asking because i have had a few SPs ask if they could smoke in the room and i always say no cause the last thing i want is for the alarms to go off and i am not a smoker, so i have not tried to smoke in the room. SPs tell me that its OK, other clients let me smoke, ill blow it out the window, nothing ever goes off, and i am not saying that i mind if they smoke, if it makes them more comfortable and relaxes them, OK then, its better then having them go outside which usually takes 10 minutes of our time together, cause they have to get dressed and go down the elevator to go out side and all this takes time. I have entertained at home and if they ask nicely, its ok, they usually go out onto the deck and usually don't get dressed so its nice to see them leaning on the railing and their derrieres are sticking out past your t-shirt, oops, got sidetracked, anyway i just want to know if you have encountered this or if you yourself are smokers and have smoked in these smokeless hotels. I am assuming that if your on a top floor and the windows open it may be OK, not sure, i would really like to know.

I know when its just an hour rendezvous the SPs could hold off having that cigarette, but i guess when your having a multi hour appointment and your drinking, you have that craving, so i can sympathize, and i don't want them to like rush everything then just so they can run out and have a cigarette, me personally, i don't really like the smell of cigarette, but like i said, if it relaxes them, then OK.

True. I've seen the fee be as high as $300.

Fortunately for me, the last time a guest i was hosting asked me to smoke i politely suggested she smoke on the balcony at HDLM. Had my room not had a balcony, i politely would have refused her request with a rational explanation on my part.

Be careful about you or the SP smoking in a non-smoking room. Hotels due to customers have become very sensitive about having any smoking odor in the room...if you smoke in the room or attempt to blow it out the window (it will come right back into the room) you could be setting yourself up for a big cleaning fee showing up on your credit card bill after checking out. I suggest either using one of those electronic cigarettes which are OK in the room, or getting a room with a balcony. I like to be hospitable to SP requests as if they are relaxed, it generally makes for a more fun get together, but if its not an e-cig or no balcony, I politely tell them to not do it...but, if it is a longer get together, I have no issue offering them to step out to the street at lobby to smoke and then come back up.

Coming from a person who has spent many years in motels if you have to smoke in your room make sure you have microwave popcorn ( added note: need a microwave ). Cook up one batch and no smoke odor will be noticed ( tobacco or pot )................ I guarantee it works, tried and tested.

i had sp smoke in non smoking rooms after asking me. i didnt realy care until i got dinged on my credit card after the fact. the smoking hapen abut 3 times in difrent hotels & i was dinged once at the last hotel (luckly it was $100 but still upset). after that wen i was using outcalls i allways telld lady no smoking.

in most case, smoke alarm will not go off if lady is not under smoke alarm. u have to be more worryd abut them detecting smoke in room & charging u the clean-up fee.

Ha, i love it, have to try the popcorn remedy, now i have 3 questions, do you pop the corn before or after smoking? And how the hell do i get a microwave in my overnight bag? Lol. And in the hotels i have stayed in there a stipulation about cooking in your room, so does popcorn count as cooking?

One more thing, instead of a microwave, i figured i can one up this idea a little, what if i get some jiffy pop and bring a soldering torch, will this work just the same? Cause i know i can fit that in my bag. Lol. And in the past i did pop corn this way. And also, the children, the hotels i stay in usually have a lot of children running around, should i expect them to be knocking on my door cause they smell popcorn, Lol. Thanks for the info, it just seems like its easier to just not smoke..

I do not smoke but I was once having a date with a lady who did so we put tons of little tea candles ,look was great to create a nice atmosphere and cover the smoke smell we thought at he time but it ,literally, backfire because the smoke detector went off, not a nice thing to occur in a date, didn't get the surcharge so maybe it did work?

Popcorn is made after smoking, most places I stay have a microwave and some even sell the popcorn in the lobby, does not count as food being cooked. At -35 I will not go outside to smoke a joint, kind of ruins the experience. The popcorn is good for munchies after :nod: It is a handed down cure in the oil patch, works well and you would be surprised of how much popcorn you smell in the hallways in northern Alberta hotels/motels.

I was at the Hyatt once when the smoke alarm went off around 4:20 in the morning. You're not saying that was you...our little sweet cherry darling? You bad girl.

I still remember very fondly a lady from the old Frenchkiss Society coming to my place and laying out a couple of dozen beautifully scented tea candles which gave a romantic mystical atmosphere to one of my most extraordinary and blissful meetings ever. These sweet little touches by ladies create a long a wonderful memory. There wasn't any alarm going off, though I would hardly have noticed...in the moment.

I tell them that I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and that they can't do it. No reason to get stuck with an extra cleaning bill from the hotel to satisfy this disgusting habit (I am a former smoker).

No Merlot,I am une belle de jour so a fire alarm during the day is not as bad,well for the others for me I find it is hard on the libido...
Once it is was the steam from a too long shower that started the alarm,that was as bad and killed the mood...

I guess because i book mostly (almost exclusively) 1h meeting it never been really a case for me. I had once only an SP light one up while i was at one of those "SP motels" and there was cinders so i guess obviously it was ok to smoke, but i really didn't like it. Im a non smoker and find smokin repulsive personally.... everything about it is a turn off... odor, taste, just seeing somebody smoke is a turn off literally... But that particular SP was on drug and chemistry was very bad, so that meeting was not a good one anyway.

Personally if they smoke before coming to my room, its fine as long as i don't detect it... Good mouthwash, gum, tic tacs or whatever...

The only person i shared time with longer than 1h was a non-smoker, so the problem never happened, but i guess if you book 3-4h with a smoker, obviously at some point there need to do that will kick in... and what can you really do?

Anyway my regular place does have that 200$ fee policy, so no smoking in my room for sure lol

Smoking is now almost universally unacceptable in enclosed spaces. Also It is not fair to the next hotel guest to stay in a smoke scented room. I had this experience and it was unpleasant inhaling someone else's smoke during the night. Also there is a cleaning fee which can be charged to your credit card. Guests must know of this policy and should be advised that smoking in the room is not permitted. For longer stay guests they can always step outside during a break and then return.

I have had SPs who smoked by an open window in the Omni and it never set off anything, and I did not get charged. I was relatively new to the hobby back then and more accommodating of inappropriate requests like this.

Gabriella, it is good to know that some upsacle establishments like the Queen E still cater to their smoking guests. A list of such hotels may be valuable to have as sometimes it can come in handy for longer staying visitors.

The Delta on President Kennedy has balconies (not for all rooms, but most). Works great for your guest to smoke a cigarette or share a joint.
