As far as border crossing is concerned, I am not exactly sure what they are looking for, but I can say for sure that on a few occasions that I was subjected to secondary inspections, my old battered clamshell phone never merited a second look by the CBSA.

What about Google Voice? It gives you a phone number and it interacts with the phone on the other side like any other cel phone.
