SMS/text apps

I'm currently sitting my hotel room instead of enjoying the best ladies that Montreal has to offer. Why?

The agency I've used for the past several years decided that my SMS is no longer acceptable as it comes from a texting app. It's the same number/app I've used when seeing at least 6 girls from this agency before this new policy.

What makes agency/provider wary of accepting SMS from these apps? I really can't come up with a reason. A burner phone is just that. A troublesome hobbyist can easily obtain a new one.

To the hobbyist, a text app allows for hiding this "virtual" burner in plain sight from both CBSA and significant others (and having to explain why the burner is devoid of content or contains generic contacts making it obvious it is a burner) and there is also no burner SIM to lose/forget.

I offered booking via merb PM. Booker didn't respond. So by the time I got into my hotel earlier this afternoon, no more availability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, is registration required to obtain a prepaid SIM in Canada (registration required in Germany)? If not, then I really don't see a burner phone providing any protection to an agency/provider more than an text app.

I don't think that registration is required to buy a prepaid SIM in Canada. This document, although somewhat dated (2013), shows that Canada has rejected the mandatory registration requirement (see map on page 8):

https://www.gsma.com/publicpolicy/w...gistration-of-Prepaid-SIM-Users_32pgWEBv3.pdf

My own experience (not very recent) confirms that. When buying a prepaid (Rogers) SIM, I was asked my name, but when I hesitated, the clerk entered the first name he could think of (that of a famous singer), and that was it. I have been maintaining it for quite a few years, which required topping it up once (at least) every 6 months.

That may be so, but (as transatlantic mentioned earlier) what difference does it make whether a person has a "real" burner phone or an app? Everyone can buy an unlocked phone (I have a very old clamshell one, it still works fine), then walk into a store and buy a prepaid SIM, that is all it takes. How does that make you feel more secure?

Apps are free. I don't think many people buy multiple phones or sim cards every week to prank call escorts. (Most of the time I refuse app numbers because I had far too many no-shows or outcalls to fake addresses. Not for security purposes, more to avoid wasting time (getting ready) and money on a driver and to avoid missing out on opportunities with actual serious clients)

But even when it comes to security, guys with bad intentions will almost always prefer the free option (text apps)

Yes, you can delete the text from your phone, but the record is still there and may be available from your provider. Not to mention that sometimes (not always) it may be easy to find out your real name if you use your "real" phone. Just for fun, try googling your number. So I would never use my real phone for any questionable activities.

Then use a prepaid phone number with a fake name. It will show as a real number and you won't have to worry about your info being found. 50$ for one month unlimited texts internationally, unlimited Canada & USA phone calls & 8gb of 3G data.

That is exactly what I do. Except I am paying $10 (CA) for a month as I don't need data. And I am only paying for those months when I actually need to use it.

Yep exactly :) So easy and cheap which is why I find it suspicious when people insist on using an app...

And you don't find it suspicious when a famous rock star (long dead in my case) decides to give you a call? :)

Which is where the second, cheap number comes in handy.... You can remove the sim card or just not pay when not using it...

This exactly. In the US, it's very likely your mobile phone is on your credit report (it is for me). Unless you are really careful as to which companies you give it out to, it's going to show up on the web.

For those of us who cross the border and/or have significant other, a second phone/SIM is asking for trouble.

I don't expect any provider/agency to change their policy (business at this agency is too good). Just wanted to gain an understanding on why. Is it fair to say in your experience, SMS apps request have higher incidences of time wasting?

This is a problem with a second phone. An acquaintance of mine was caught with a second phone which led to divorce. If you could make one phone act like two...maybe an extra SIM card or something would do the trick? I would say to buy a phone upon touchdown in Canada and toss it out before you leave but sometimes it's already too late to reserve girls. I tossed my bat phone awhile ago. I use the PM function, e-mail, and hotel phone with trusted agencies and indies.

But you can have a good reason for having a second phone, that is to have an unlocked one to be used with a local SIM card wherever you are traveling. Just keep it "clean" when you come back home.

The sim card itself is free. You can just throw it out when you dont use it/when you cross the border and get a new one next time you are in town. And to answer your question, yes, definitely...

A sim card is so easy to hide too, it is very small lol

One problem with the second SIM card is that your regular number wont work while you use your alternate SIM card. As I said, I understand why agencies and providers dislike text apps but they are really much less hassle than second sims and second phones.

To you. You wouldn't say this if you encountered the thousands of issues we sex workers do with guys using text app numbers. So many phones nowadays allow you to use 2 sim cards at once btw. And if really you feel like you have it worse by having to get a sim card, imagine having to lower your rates because you spent half of your income in cab rides to fake outcalls this month, or imagine being beat up and stolen from from a client who uses an app number. Both of which happened to me.. At the end of the day you could tell the agency you will send a text from your real number but would prefer booking from the app after the number is confirmed. Most would agree to this and you can put your own sim card back after 5mins. There's always a way, and in the end if you're really really annoyed and refuse to use a real number, you can book someone who doesn't require them and not come whine about it on review boards lmao

The mere existence of a burner phone or text app is tremendous evidence of “cheating”, so that doesn’t make sense to me.

Absolutely not. [By similar logic, you can conclude that being in possesion of a penis is tremendous evidence of cheating.] Both can be used for legitimate purposes. As I said before, I have my "burner" phone (an old clamshell unlocked one) for using with local SIM cards whenever and wherever I am traveling. And I use apps (yes, a few) to call home for free when traveling.

As for the business at hand, it is my personal policy to maintain a clear line between my day-to-day life and any activities that someone somehow may consider questionable. I would never use my real phone or my real email for the latter. I figure that extra caution would never hurt.

Text app can be removed when with significant other/crossing border and then reinstalled when significant other not around/after entry into Canada. CBSA can't compel you unlock your text app to read messages if they don't know it exist.

You don't get such protection with a second physical SIM/phone.
