Where is the economy in wearing down a good set of winter tires by driving with them in the summer?
It is cheaper to have a separate set of summer tires. I have the winter tires on rims so I do not have to mount and balance them twice a year.

Quite correct Stuckeys

I have my Bridgestone Blizzaks on a set of steel wheels which I purchased from the dealer when I bought my car

I do that all the time...

They sell them at cost, or at a very low margin

PS..the reason that winter tires don't have any traction/temperature grade on them ( such as 620AB), is that they are not intended to be driven on warm surfaces, as they will degrade quite quickly, and become extremely unstable...

Mounting and balancing each tire cost between $12.50 and $15.00 plus tax. If you do this twice a season over the life of the snow tire (five years) it can cost you $600. Rims are the way to go.

The garages are jam packed with people switching over to winter tires, I think it is a little too early, you will add unnecessary wear to the tires.

It snowed at my house last week. I switched to my winter wheels and tires before driving to Montreal. I've been caught in flurries on the interstate over half the time I've driven home from Montreal this time of year but I've never been snowed on here in Montreal at the end of October - it's warmer here than at home!

For those who run "all season" tires during the summer, it's probably too early to switch. My summer tires are dedicated summer tires that do very poorly on snow and not well at all on cold roads. They've also got an inch less sidewall than my winter tires, which are still pretty low-profile. For me this is the proper time of year to switch out.

I have my car jack, jack stands and electric torque wrench, I can do a 15 minute pit stop style change just as the first flake falls.

I've tried many brands over the years & from personal experience the Bridgestone Blizzaks are unbeatable. I also have never heard a single negative comment about them.

I have Bridgestone Blizzacs, they are good. They wear fast because the compound is soft. In warm weather you have to get them off fast.

Two years ago I put Blizacks on one car and CDN tire generics on the other, now the Blizacks are pretty worn and the CDN Tire generics still look good. The price for extra good traction is that they wear out fast.

Put on Michelin Xice all year long.
Doin a lot of mileage and no time to f*ck around with 2nd set of tires to carry and or install.

This is a stupid law.

It doesn't stop as*holes from driving mad and stupid twits who always get in the ditch at the first snow with their Big motherf*cker gas guzzling pickups.

or the dimwits driving way too fast for their run down small and shitty nippon cars wearing their baseball cap backwards who thinks they can impress my classy but extreme fast car.
