So down on prostitutes

I usually enjoy reading the Plenty of Fish forum on Sex and Dating, but there's a new post there which solicits views from women on men who visit prostitutes,

http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts4238946.aspx

It seems sad to me how most if not all of the replies take such a dim view toward prostitutes and those who use them. The women are portrayed as disease infested, drug addicts, and loose pussied. (I tried the older Genvieve recently at A&C on the South Shore and while she has some years on her, I would not say her pussy felt loose... The woman gets into it, says she does it for some fun on the weekend, and she provided a very nice experience... so what's the problem?) Anyway, while we all know that many of the girls have problems, why are these otherwise very open-minded (liberal?) folks at POF so down on prostitutes?

Right, I should ask over there myself... But whoosh one may forget how difficult it may be to discuss this with others who don't see any potential positive side to the issue. Is it better to just ignore these people and not disturb their worlds with contrary views?

Update: I said to hell with it and posted a contrary view at POF.

Post your contrary veiw and keep on doing so. Give your opinion. Back it up with facts. We must keep fighting if we ever expect to change laws and (maybe I am dreaming) eventually eliminate the stigma.

Ronnie,

P.S. I just registered to post my opinion.

Way to Go Ronnie Lee!!

Hey Ronnie, I just read that thread on POF. You were great! Too bad the board is full of self righteous morons. I think because it is a dating board the dudes are going to be indignant in hope of attracting someone. Some of the women were really stupid. I laughed my ass off. Did you go in and read the profiles of a couple of the women who were really nasty? That was quite informative. It gives me the opinion that if they have sex with a guy they've known for three dates or so it's OK to go bareback with him because he obviously hasn't been with a SW and he's safe. I wonder how many of their dates/exes/mates have been with an escort or streetwalker and haven't said so. Probably most of them. Of course the answer to the thread is "Yes" they would be disgusted if their men went to a prostitute. They have to be able to post their self righteous indignation to show how perfect they are. They are also talking about the men they can have themselves not the ones they can't. How many would be disgusted if they were asked out by Hugh Grant, Charlie Sheen, or any of the Hollywood high rollers in Heidi Fleiss's little black book? For you MERB'rs who haven't looked at this link, it's worth a few minutes, if for nothing other than a good laugh at how much ignorance is really out there.

My take on this thing is that all of those guys on POF would, and probably have paid for sex. But they find themselves on this "dating" site and feel they need to impress the girls on there. So when someone brings up the idea of prostitutes, the guy instinctly knows that 9 outta 10 girls on there will take the negative side of the topic... and they'll look at any man that says there's nothing wrong with it as a scumbag... So the guys automaticly pull out the big, defensive guns, hop right up on their soap box and label all SPs as disease spreading whores and the men that take part in these activities as losers that can't get a "Real" girl... All the while not seeing the irony in the fact that they're not making these statements on a "Swinging Dicks Who Don't Need Any Help w/Women" web site, but instead on a "Adult Dating" site where they probably send out 18,000 messages to women they've never met, with an attached shot of thier cocks, with the hopes that this with spark the interest of some hottie that's willing to meet them at the local area No-Tell Motel for some no-strings fucking... and maybe a cup of coffee...

They're really not fooling anyone... Because the moment they made that post, they probably checked and saw that none of the Fish out there had responded to their message, and instinctly picked up the phone and made a date with a escort for later that night...

Oh and if you do a little looking around, you'll find that they all feel the same way about strippers & strip clubs...

Sour Grapes

Some women fear prostitution because they know it gives men, possibly men they have their eyes on, an avenue for sexual release that otherwise would not be there. A man who uses the "normal" (although one may question which form is more normal) prostitution option won't be nearly as likely to be extorted for sex. Many of the women who speak out the loudest against "prostitution" are simply prostitutes of a different kind. Golddiggers don't like a level playing field, they like being in ultimate control over who gets laid and who doesn't. Prostitution takes that away from them and leaves them with little or no bargaining power. I would prefer an escort for a companion any day to a goldigger, at least the escort is honest about what her motivation is.

Why bother being upset over the opinions of others who are too blind to see the truth of the matter?

Unfortunatley, the General Public always has a negative view on prostitution. Especially on a dating site, where guys are looking for "real" action, the "honest" and socially approved way. And as Uncle Kracker pointed out, they're just making themselves out to be as wholesome as possible in order to attract chicks.

I don't know of any country that advertises its prostitution in official tourism channels. Legal or not, prostitution is generally viewed worldwide as a bad thing. At worst, they prosecute it and at best, they sweep it under the rug.

Penn & Teller: Bullshit

Anyone seen Penn & Teller's Bullshit on Showtime? I thought it was exellent. I provide a link below along with a brief description:

http://www.sho.com/site/ptbs/prevepisodes.do?episodeid=s4/prostitution

Season 4, Episode 2: Prostitution

Everyone knows that prostitution is practiced throughout the land. Where it is legal - in only a few Nevada counties, prostitution is vigorously regulated and monitored by the State of Nevada Health Department. The women submit to compulsory medical tests for STDs. No one is forced to work as a prostitute. Pimps don't exist. HIV has never been detected. The women earn regular paychecks and tips. Some even get vacation and sick days. And they pay taxes! It's BULLSHIT that it's illegal for two consenting adults to have sex with each other!

Yup, I saw it, and I agree with their legal arguments about prostitution as well as the safety of Nevada.

However, from a hobbyist's perspective, Nevada is a poor example. I think the SPs in Nevada should be prosecuted ... for highway robbery. Legalization should, in theory, bring the price DOWN; yet in Nevada, the reverse is true. For the cost of ONE legal session in Nevada, you can have 3-4 (or more) illegal sessions with SPs anywhere else in the US. There should some kind of price control for Nevada SPs.

In the US, we have to realize that prostitution is a necessary evil. Every time there's a bust, LE always says the same thing: "We can't put an end to prostitution, but we can at least keep it out of our town..." Well, it's gotta go somewhere!

We should allow the corporations to take over Nevada and turn it into an affordable adult playground. And just like states seek to legalize slots in order to increase tourism, they should consider prostitution as well.

But I realize this is all wishful thinking. The US is the last country on Earth that would ever condone or tolerate prostitution in any way.

Yep, your congressmen will never publicly support legalizing prostitution (as they privately get their blowjobs). But I have a feeling that the corporations might change that the same way they took over gambling from the mob years ago. I think we need to put the 'sin' back into Sin City.
