I was not in MTL or anything, i just ask this out of curiosity. I dunno if it would be a good idea for me to plan a trip during that week end. Hotel must cost so much and outcalls would be delayed due to traffick. Also if there is more ladies available for sure (i saw it in the ads) there is more clients as well... ;)

But im curious if any of you actually partook in the "festivities". I know some of you probably just came back home, or are coming back later today, probably some reviews are to come, but i hear so much about this special week end that im very curious to know lol. Hope you guys will share in the respective review thread.

Small mention on the Grand Prix itself. Stoll finally got a podium i heard? Thats a start. Sadly Formule 1 seem to be way too often more of the same... the same guys winning all the time, even Tennis wich have a very steady top 4 that usually win most of the tournaments seem less predictable. I think the cars make too much of a difference. Thats why i could never really get into it. I would love if everybody would drive the exact same car with exact same equipement, we could see really who is the best pilot.

Stroll didn`t get to the podium , but by finishing 9th he ended up getting points.
Far better finish for the young kid than most expected.

To answer your question, I saw Adriana Chambres at her hotel in The Plateau on Friday Afternoon.
Traffic and parking were not a problem and she was more than amazing...... as usual.

I've been following F1 for many years now...

The Williams has Mercedes power , and finishing 9th is NO major accomplishment

The people who finished behind him were in uncompetitive machinery or in the case of Magnussen (many penalties)
Sorry to burst your bubble
F1 has always thrived on drivers that " pay to drive "

You are off track on this one Amigo.

You should, but maybe don`t realize that Stroll is the second youngest driver in the history of F1 to win points.
And if you are a Canadian fan then you`d know that he is the 3rd Canadian , after the two Villeneuve`s , to win points.
It is a big deal for many.

BTW most if not all who finished behind him, started ahead of him.

I had a fantastic GP weekend! The race was great and Vettel meeded one more lap to pass Ricciardo for third place. He and Stroll had an amazing race considering all the early problems (caused by Max Verstappen) Vettel encountered which led to extra pit stops. Team Force India had a controversy between their two racers when one of them refused to let the faster of the two pass him to go after Ricciardo. They likely lost a podium because of this.

Stroll did amazingly comsidering he had started in 17th place. He failed to qualify for the 2nd round of qualifications and this was likely because Pascal Wurlein crashed just ahead of him in the final minute or so of the first round of qualifications. Stroll was on a personal best lap when the accident occured.

At only age 18, the kid did very well and i expect great things for him! :thumb:

What a great weekend of racing! Can't wait for next year!

I was in Montreal Saturday and Sunday with one night in an hotel but was not there for the F1. Atmosphere in the Old City was really great. Never saw so many luxury sports cars and beautiful women. For guys the dress code was pretty basic with T shirts and cargo shorts the norm. The women were really well turned out with little summer dresses and all very stylish.
However, for me, I will avoid Montreal Grad Prix like the plague in the future. My hotel room in Old Montreal was well over $400 with taxes and today the same room is listed for $98. In normal times a small suite at the Nelligan would be only 10% more than what I paid. Hotel Champ-De-Mars was where I ended up staying because even months ago there were literally no vacancies in Montreal hotels. This hotel was not only ripping me off on the $ but the place is really poor. No elevator. Half the light bulbs burned out. Double bed and the sheets had skid marks on them. Blood spot on the bed spread. Not even 3 feet of space around 3 sides of the bed. No dresser, no drawers and no closet. Hooks only and some tiny shelves for clothes. No bath tub. Shower only. Two flimsy plastic cups in the room. Asked downstairs for two wine glasses and got attitude from the guy in the restaurant. They did allow me to check in a little early. I asked for a late checkout on Sunday because their normal checkout is 1100 and I had an appointment till 1230. She said that would be an extra $40. I said I felt I was paying enough for the room and I would make do somehow. She quickly backed off and said I could checkout late without the fee, simply confirming that they knew they were ripping me off.
Montreal is a great city and I have been there many times. The old port is a really special place. I wonder what kind of an impression someone coming to the city for the first time will have, if they came to Montreal last weekend ?
As for me, I always stay in Old Montreal a couple of nights this time of the year and I will never be there again on the Grand Prix weekend.

I agree with smuler,

F1 winners are more than often the teams with the best teams of engineers to build the best engines. Villeneuve jr. was doing well in races because he had a good team and good car until he changed teams and was not able to perform or get points

Hamilton came in as a rookie and was put on the Mercedes team right off the bat and got podium on his first year. Schumacher, supposedly the best F1 pilot ever with Ferrari because of their infmous engineer whom in the end they lost to Mercedes which is the same year Hamilton joined F1 and then he wins and Schumacher stops winning

You always see the same big teams winning more than the same drivers lol.

Did not take part in any F1 events besides checking out crescent street. I had tickets to go to F1 but I rather watch it on TV where I can see the whole race, instead of just watching the cars pass by in 2 seconds

This is quite true. But the best teams are the ones with the money and 'panache' to hire the best drivers. I doubt Ferrari would be as successful if Patrick Wurlein or Jordan Palmer were the team's drivers instead of Vettel and Raikonen.

Doc, were you in Montreal or did you watch on tv? I know you came to Montreal once for the GP weekend (and didn't you stay at the Chablis?) and I thought you said you would never come back and you hated F1.

Sometimes you contradict yourself more than Donald Trump does.

I honestly don't give a flying fuck if the Grand Prix DU CANADA is held or not. I once was a huge F1 racing fan, and i've found the races extremely dull for the past decade since Villeneuve was thrown out of F1. I have no use, nor interest for Europe's prestigious racing league. Stay home you snobby frenchmen!

Fuck the Grand Prix!!!! ;)

I've attended the Grand Prix and spent time in Montreal during the GP week quite a few times. Here are some observations:

it was a good but not great race this year. There was no real fight for podium positions but the battles further down the grid were good.

The crowds each each day were large and enthusiastic. The weather was good though it was uncomfortably windy on race day.

There seemed to be more social events and fan events around town than ever. The Peel and Crescent street festivals were jam packed most of the weekend. The new festival around Dorchester Square was kind of lame but it seemed good for families so that's good.

Girl watching during the GP weekend was outstanding, as always.

i had no problem booking some great escorts, all from Vogue--Kelly, Ophelia and Leena (reviews posted for all in their threads).

The future of the race seems bright. There is a contract in place until 2029 and the city has committed to making major renovations to the track infrastructure after next year's race. There is still a little doubt about the sources of the $48M in funds needed for the renovations but the mayor and the promoter are on record saying that the renovations will get done.

I spent a few evenings at the Downtown Club and had a good time. They had a good lineup and the quality of the dances for $10 can be surprisingly good. You just have to pick the right girls and you never know what might happen. One of the dancers I met, Frida, has an interesting side business as a dominatrix. She goes by the name Mistress Vondark. Not my thing, but she's an interesting girl to talk to.

I went to the club with a fellow Merbite one night and he recognized one of the strippers as a girl who works as a barista at a cafe in Montreal. I liked her look and wanted to get some dances from her but when I asked her to stop at our table, she said she didn't feel comfortable doing so because she recognized my friend. I guess she was a believer in the "worlds colliding theory" from Seinfeld.

I actually looked around for you but didn't spot you. Anyways, i can't wait 'til next year!! :thumb:

Next time, let me know in advance that you're coming to the race. Always good to get together with a fellow old-timer from MERB.

Will do. I probably will be back next year. I first caught the F1 bug when Gilles Villeneuve was racing. Then i lost it after he tragically died. I was disheartened. Too bad since i lost out on Ayrton Senna during those years. Then i mostly got into CART racing with the arrival of Jacques Villeneuve and later Greg Moore with the Players team. Then i got interested in F1 again once Indy 500 winner Jacques Villeneuve joined the Williams team alongside Damon Hill and won the world championship a year or so later after Hill had retired. Then i stopped watching CART after Greg Moore tragically died. I was once again disheartened, but i still followed F1 even though Villeneuve's stock went down once he joined a new team called BAR.

I eventually made my way to my first GP in 2006. Jacques V was having a good run until he crashed. Again. And then he was literally kicked out of F1, so i lost interest. And it took a while to get my interest back since i noticed it was always the same team winning. First it was Red Bull with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, and then same thing when Lewis Hamilton joined Vettel as his partner. But Michael Schumacher returned to racing and i got interested again, although he was with a team that couldn't compete with the best ones. But i still watched the odd race and cheered for Schumacher. And yes, i always watched the Canadian GP every year. But when Sebastian Vettel joined Ferrari last season, i really got back into it and i'm once again a big Ferrari fan and a huge fan of Vettel's.

I can't wait for the next race. I'm even considering possibly attending the US GP next fall. I probably won't, but i'm considering it.

Glad to see you're interested in F1 again. With Bernie Ecclestone out as F1 CEO and the new management by Liberty Media, I think the future of the sport looks good.

Where did you stay? Did you see any escorts?

Check your facts about some drivers' career paths. Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel were never on the same team. Hamilton has been with either McLaren or Mercedes during his whole career and Vettel has been with BMW Sauber, Toro Rosso, Red Bull and now Ferrari. Also, Vettel joined Ferrari in 2015, not last season.

Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were on the same McLaren team in 2007, Hamilton's rookie year, and they did not get along well. Alonso left and went back to Renault for two years before moving over to Ferrari. Then he left Ferrari just before they started to become good again (2015) and he joined the ill-fated McLaren-Honda team. Alonso is a great driver but he made a number of bad career moves after he won back-to-back world championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006.

The rest of this year should see a close battle between Hamilton's Mercedes and Vettel's Ferrari. Mercedes may have a slight edge but I think it will be an entertaining fight until the end of the season.

Thanks for the correction. My memory isn't as good as it once was. Like i said, i'd watch the odd race now and then, but i was never really into it like last season and especially this year.

I watched several documentaries on the history of F1 recently. People can say what they want about Bernie Ecclestone, but he and Max Moseley did a heck of a lot for the sport and especially for the drivers' well-being. F1 would never be what it was today were it not for Ecclestone and Moseley. They literally saved the sport and many drivers over the years owe their lives to them for forcing race organizers and especially track owners to do something in regards to drivers' safety.
