Hello All,

Any tips or suggestions for a first time solo traveler to Montreal? Things to do in between sessions?

The restaurants are still mostly local, fortunately, and the variety and quality of food in Montreal is, I think, the best in North America, excluding the nonexistent pizza offerings.

Il Focolaio has served me some of the best pizza I've had in my life.

There is a light show at the Cathedral of Montreal that is kind of cool for about 5$.

After my evening appointment, I usually finish off the bottle of red wine and write my report and then go for a late night bite at Nichols or some place and then I walk the seedier spots and talk to street walkers. This is a lot of fun. I've only done one and she took me back to her place and she was the cleanest, neatest girl I've ever met. We actually bought a bottle of coke and she had a bottle of rum at her apartment. I helped pay her rent. 99 times out of 100 I say "No, I already had an appointment today but thank you." It is easy to do because most are scary.

I also like to jog up Mount Royal.

Thanks. I am as excited to check the pizza place out as I am about trying some new escorts that Cloudsurf and Hungry101 have recommended.

For over 20 years my pizza place has been Bottega in little Italy. If ever you see a Velvet incall then it's walkable (probably 20-25 minutes or so). Nice local area to hang around anyhow.

And what about Pizzeria Napoletana (next door to Bottega)? It seems to be less famous than it used to be, but at least it is (or was as of last year) BYOB, which is nice.

Went a few times. I am sold on Bottega but I have to admit I liked that place. And yes the BYOB is always well appreciated. Yelp ranks Bottega 4 star and this one 3 1/2.

What I appreciate of these 2 places is their choice of salads and appetizer. I never finish the pizza need to bring it home

Before a visit to Napoletana I usually stop by at Le Marché des Saveurs du Québec to pick up a beer (or a cider), excellent choice of local stuff.

Gemma pizza in little Italy is pretty amazing as well as most places in that area.

I forgot - Swartz's Deli for a smoked meat sandwich and I once had dinner with Sharkman at L'Entrecôte Saint-Jean and I think I have returned there for dinner ever since.

I personally go for the Americanized pizza version . Woodland pizzeria is pretty good for anyone who likes that style but it’s not exactly downtown.
Swartz’s Deli in my opinion used to be good 10, 15 years ago . But ever since it became a trendy , popular joint and coupled with it changing hands the quality went way down in my opinion. Haven’t been there for ages , partly because the last time was pretty disappointing.

If you like Neapolitan style pizza and your around Liitle Italy then I agree Gema is a good place . Been there a few times ,,, casual and friendly atmosphere . If I don’t est everything I’ll take out the rest for breakfast next morning. Cold pizza the best food the day after ,gabeeesh !?

I like going to the Jean-Talon open air market in nice weather. Nice fresh fruit and veggies, great olive stand, and fromage. If you like spa’s you should hit Bota Bota... great hot and cold water circuit and professional massages. Spending a day there is pure bliss.
