every 3 months is not enough, obviously. Once a month is best, but every 2 weeks is even better. In reality SP's probably face more risks than porn stars - given the porn actors need to present evidence of a clean test before they shoot a scene. Any random joe blow shows up at an SP incall...

One could have a negative result and have unprotected sex with an infected someone the same night and shoot a scene 3 days later all while showing their negative results that are no longer valid. About getting tested: I personally prefer doing it more often, but the other question is do clients get tested often as well? Let's be real - its not about how many people you fuck, its about whether or not that one partner is infected or not when you have sex with them. In short, if SP is tested more often and with the wearing of a condom at all times, the risks will be greatly reduced.

That very true, but the other reason the testing is so frequent is because so much money is riding on everyone being clean.

Most girls go every 3 months, and at the Clinic where I go, they tell me every 3 months should be enough. It makes me feel more secure and comfortable to go monthly. A disease can be catched in the throat: chlamydia/gonorrhea and you won't know. As for sex, we always use condoms and the intercourse is always protected. We get tested more often than women in general and are even more careful in our personal encounters. But better be safe than being sorry... That's my motto...

Great way to work. It's much safer to act downstream.

In this way you put all the odds in your favor. I know girls who have worked for many years who were tested less often, and who were tested only because I asked them, and who still work.

Indeed once a month is a good frequency.

And to answer your question, I still know several amateurs in this hobby, and my answer is that I do not know any.

The testing regime in US porn is a reflection of the industry wanting to keep state regulators out (Cal OSHA). The industry itself is 100% legal. Prostitution's legal status in Canada has not been as well settled as porn production in California. Escorting is a small but diffuse industry compared to American porn. But most of all, the big distinction is the expectation that porn performers have sex without condoms. It just is not a valid comparison.

also, my doctor told me that Oral (oropharyngeal) gonorrhea is very often overlooked,since most people only do urine test for gonorrhea and infected throat does not show in urine test(throat swab culture is needed to detect oral gonorrhea)
since oral sex is usually performed unprotected, transmission of gonorrhea to/from penis to throat is very likely if SPs do not check their throat when they do testing

In my personal experience (when I was working I had a lot of contact with doctors), and hobbyist very rarely said they were "hobbyist". So some doctors were digging into the subject, doctors had to insist that professional secrecy applied, and even with that, some guys don't admit they meet.

I have told the nurse I'm a sex worker simply because I'd rather avoid all the annoying questions like "how many partners have you had?", haha I usually just exaggerate and reply along the lines of "probably ten thousand or so. I'm an escort I fuck everybody." and they don't ask more questions.

I always insist on getting tested for this and that and this and that though, because if you don't ask they'll give you the bare minimum. So I make sure I ask for throat swab, vaginal and anal swab, blood samples, the whole thing.

It's insane and scary the amount of people who think they're sti-free when in reality it's just that they haven't been properly tested because nurses insist on doing the bare minimum. I don't get it. They want people to get tested but you almost have to fight them to get proper testing.
