Adding in my experience here. I crossed the border yesterday by car at the Derby Line VT/Stanstead QC station from I91. Border crossing was a breeze. I handed the officer my passport , vaccine card, negative COVID test result, and my ArriveCAN receipt. Just the usual questions by the officer (Where are you from/where are you going/what are you doing in MTL, etc) I got asked about the address that I provided for a place of quarantine in the ArriveCan app. I told them it was my hotel in Montreal. I was never told nor asked to take a random COVID test. I was only handed a piece of paper with information about who to contact if you feel sick while in Canada.

Also, I recommend this test from Amazon. Very easy and only $40.

YES, it doesn’t make sense when some Sheep are “suggested” by a Border Officer to take a COVID Test within 4 days, or since you’re here at the Border “suggested” to take it Now....

Crossing by car was smooth for me, but I was asked a couple of unexpected questions.

Are you carrying more than $1000 cash? (I thought the allowed limit was 10K ?)

When I replied no, next unexpected question: How much cash are you carrying?

Anyways, I answered politely and didn't have any further intrusive questions or requests. No random covid test.

I’m happy you had a great time with the SPs (who did you see?). For now I’ll add an extra Benjamin or more to my NNJ and NYC SP appointments. I’ll even enjoy a few extra Molsons at an NHL game here in NJ prior to my SP appointment and pretend I’m north of the border. Lol

Robert- No rush, the scene here is not at it's best right now. I've been having one of my poorest visits so far. Will post some notes and reviews later.

Hey Mistral, what border and time/day did you cross?

I'm guessing the crossing I chose connected to the NYS Thruway, the Rouse Point crossing is a major one so that's why everyone on line had to take a "random" COVID test. I mean they have a permanent tent there for testing. Also, I crossed on a Monday mid afternoon, maybe that had something to do with it.

I've had border agents ask me similiar questions. It's not so much about the rules regarding cash, they are just trying to trip you up. You are allowed 10k.

Thanks Mistral. That’s what I not only hear, but any glance at the more popular agency schedules on any given day shows a total regression.

There are some days on which only five or six girls are on the schedule at popular agencies. Still much better quality than NYC/NNJ even now, but I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. I just hope this is not a reset and that things eventually return to normal.

This will all pass, and many of you predicted that 2021 would be a lean year.

Which port of entry did you enter Canada at?

Rouses Point is not the port of entry (POE) the I-87 (Adirondack Northway) takes you to. Rouses Point connects NY-11 to Route 223 in Quebec and is also where Amtrak passengers undergo inspections.

I-87 meets up with A15 at St. Bernard de Lacolle. This is the main PoE with NEXUS lanes (NEXUS lanes closed due to pandemic).

In between these two ports of entry is another which connects NY-276 and Route 221.

221 and 223 are smaller POEs so I’m speculating no on-site testing but you may get questioned why you detoured out of the way (adds 30 minutes travel time to get back to A15) as only locals use these two ports. I was asked that question many summers ago (before being enrolled in NEXUS) and the reply was there an hour backup at St. Bernard de Lacolle as per CBSA border wait time site.

Lacolle. You are technically correct about Rouse Point not being a port of entry. But anyone coming from the states through NY will remember they crossed just to the north of Rouse Point. I guess it would be considered and exit point. Only reason I knew about Lacolle is because I had to fill out the form and was told about it. So yes, Lacolle was where the tents are set up. It's the main entry point that connects to the NY Thruway. There are tents just to the right as you pass through Canadian customs for the "random" tests.

i have a question, sorry if its already been answered. As a US citizen, do you have to present a negative covid test upon returning home by land border?

Anyone who's made the trip, how was it?

I've been reading some not-so-great SP reviews lately and have noticed my favorite agencies don't really have many SPs they seem to recommend. Seems like a lot of SPs still haven't returned to the scene yet? Feeling a little nervous about my trip since I just removed about 4 SPs from my TDL after seeing some negative reviews
I thought the SP scene was good, not great. It certainly wasn't as good as it was back in the late 2000's, but compared to pre pandemic visits it was comparable. Definitely not as many SP's to choose from, but what was available was fine for me. If I'm planning any trips north again anytime soon I'll only stay for an extended weekend or something like that. What sucked for my visit was not really being able to do anything in between my SP visits. I brought my bike to Montreal so I thought I would have some fun checking out bike nights, different Harley dealerships or just cruising around town. But there was nothing going on with any of that. Only way I can describe Montreal is how it was in NYC before the summer. Montreal will slowly become more alive, but it is certainly dead right now IMHO.

Agreed. Opening back up but not back to normal. Not as many agencies open, and unclear to me if the ones that closed will remain so or will re-open later on. And certainly not as many SPs available.

Same for restaurants, stores, etc. Most open, but may not have as many hours as pre-pandemic. One restaurant cancelled 2hrs before my reservation, claiming they had staffing issues. Prices are higher too. Indoor and underground malls are less than half-full, and some storefronts remain shuttered. Still a lot of fun walking around admiring the scenery and revisiting old haunts. If you've been here before, don't expect it to be as lively. Nevertheless, for me, it was a great trip away.

What I forgot about Montreal escorts was just how awesome some of the agency girls are. You get nothing even close to that in NYC. For the most part they just go over the top to make sure you've had a great experience. On my last day after banging for an entire week I just felt completely fucked out for lack of a better term. This agency girl who shall remain nameless, without knowing anything about me just new that something was off. She went out of her way to make sure I had a memorable time doing most of the work and that's something that just doesn't happen here in the states. Same thing goes for the massage girls I had seen. Absolute sweethearts! Sure, that doesn't happen all the time, but you can guarantee it will never happen here in NYC IMHO. If your off your game in NYC, they simply pick up the donation and point you towards the shower. Plus you can't beat the cost, $200 US gets you an absolute head turner that treats you like a king.

Here’s my contribution to this thread for those of us wanting to cross the border into Canada. I recently made the trip to Montreal via my motorcycle and I crossed the border from NY.

For me, waiting for the negative COVID test was the worst part. You are virtually handcuffed until you get the green light to proceed. Took my test midweek and got my negative results 2 days later. I used the ArriveCAN app to answer all the questions and uploaded my documents such as my test results, vaccine card, and passport info. When you get to the part about a quarantine plan you simply put in the address of your hotel as instructed. When your finished you get a code that you use when you cross the border. All of it was pretty simple and straight forward. My only concern about needing my phone for the crossing. I typically erase my phone before traveling for privacy reasons. I couldn’t do that this time because I needed to have the ArriveCAN app ready to go.

Get to the border only to find out the NEXUS lane is closed. This wasn’t that much of a pain in the ass because there was only a couple of cars ahead of me. Pull up to the agent, he asked for my ID, vaccine card, COVID test results, and asked me to show him my ArriveCAN code from my phone. He then asked, but it was more like confirming my quarantine plan. Didn’t get into details about it, just confirmed my hotel address. Then he hands me a box, a COVID test box. This is where it got a little weird because your dealing with a border agent so you don’t want to piss him off by asking to many questions but I also wanted to confirm a few things. He “suggested” I complete the test with 4 days of arriving to Canada. He then went into how difficult it would be for me to do it myself and sending it in etc. Kind of like a salesman, bait and switch tactic. He suggested I follow the signs for the COVID test and I can take care of it right now. It was a suggestion, not an order to do so. To me, that was a little weird and maybe others can elaborate on that. Anyway, I followed the signs and ended up at a test site just a couple of blocks away.

It looked as though the “random” COVID test we were told about is now mandatory. Everyone that was on line to get into Canada was also on the line to take the test.

Met with a lot of testing staff all in their ppe’s, gloves, shields, etc. quite the show. I was instructed that my KN95 mask was unacceptable and was given a cheap cloth mask to wear instead. Really? They also made me sanitize my hands when I took off my mask and again when I put the mask back on. More about the overuse of hand sanitizer later. I was then instructed to take a picture of the gift box I received from the border agent. It opened up on my phones browser. Only problem was that I just crossed an international border and my phone hadn’t picked up a cell signal yet. I was then shown a iPad with the WiFi and user password. Tried that several times to no avail and was asked to put my phone down. I forgot to mention, every time we had to pivot under my interrogation I was asked to use hand sanitizer, like 25 different times for the duration. Wtf? So now my phone is set aside and I’m handed surgical gloves and their iPad. I’m asked to complete the log in. I said I don’t know the password. How do u not know the password you just picked? The iPhone picked a strong password for me and saved it. The tester grabs the iPad and asks me to take my phone out again while still wearing surgical gloves. Took off the gloves and handed them to him. He refused and said I need to throw them out. I thought he meant right away so I got off the bike only to see the fear of death in his eyes. He then screamed for me to get back on my Hog. I complied. He had me input all of the same personal info again, you know the exact same shit filled out on the ArriveCAN app. So we tried it again and it worked. Success! Now it was finally time for the test. New guy, more hand sanitizer after 15 minutes finally opened up the test box. I was told to insert the tip in my nostril for 5 seconds each. I counted to 5 pulled it out and got yelled at. What is it now? The guy had a stop watch. Fuck me. Finished the test, used more sanitizer then I was asked to place it in a clear envelope and I was now handed a sanitizer wipe to clean the outside of the zip lock bag. I was told I would get an email with the results. Fuck you very much. That’s 45 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. I know they were just doing their jobs but you would think that if they are making all Americans stop and take a test they would of had people that spoke more fluent English. The communication breakdown was horrible. Much of my time spent there was sanitizing my hands and having to repeat myself and ask the testers to repeat what they said. It seemed like it was all a big show about nothing.

Made it to my hotel ordered up some SP’s and enjoyed the hell out of my trip! Big difference in Montreal compared to the states was the demand for using hand sanitizer. In the states it’s everywhere but not mandatory to use. In Montreal you’ll get chased down by security if you don’t do it walking into a store. That’s how I learned about the rule.

That’s pretty much it. Going back home was easy and no hassle at the border.
So I just crossed the NY/QC border this week by land. CBSA policy is to either have you test on-site OR give you a test kit to be completely within 24 hours of arrival. I took the kit and drove off. Sounds like the agent you encountered is giving mixed info. There is no “within 4 day test.”

Ok. I guess the easier option is to complete it there at the border instead of having to go through the trouble of doing it on your own within 24 hours and sending it in. If you don’t complete it I’m guessing it would prevent you from entering again in the future which is why I chose to do it there on the spot. Let us know if you completed the test and if it was a pain in the ass to mail it in. Thx.

I just did my test in hotel. Not much different that a PCR test at Walgreens. Took 30 minutes for the entire registration/self test and you can do it between hours of 6AM to 10PM within 24 hours of entry into Canada. This would be on your schedule and no one screaming at you.

Signup for account at Dynacare. Put in travel document/trip date/serial # from kit and when you are located.
Join conference call (no wait when I took the test). Conference call and pre-registration in previous step does not have to take place during same session.
Nurse covered everything in the video below.
Swab both nostrils, drop into vial.
Seal package and drop off at front desk for pickup by Purolator

Did anyone else get a follow up email like this? The email states “IF” you were randomly selected for a COVID 19 test, you are required by law to complete the test. So it still seems that the test is randomly given out. I was never given a test to complete nor directed to stop and take a test at the border crossing. I did cross over from I-91 in Vermont (much less busy border), which may be why they didn’t do tests at that location.

Great info TA. Maybe I just had a really bad experience doing the test right there at the border. Possible my loud Harley pissed everyone off from their nice quiet afternoon. Under "normal" circumstances I'm wondering if it's just easier to do the "random" test right there. It doesn't sound like you were all that much inconvenienced but you still had to take time out of your day to join a conference call, sign up online, set up the pick up of the package etc. taking about 30 minutes. Where at the border I'm guessing under normal circumstances it would take about 15 minutes. Hey, either way you got in and did some banging and that's the most important thing!
