Not really. The important factor is having a ticket period. You may get it reduced in points and in the amount fined, but when your insurer finds out next renewal watch your rates go up.

It is child's play to get the ticket reduced, and that is what the traffic ticket firms that say "we win or it is free" will deliver a reduced ticket - which doesn't really help you.

Thanks for reminding me to mind my driving -- for several years I always got nailed around October and just now am getting a clean record back which I cherish.

Sometimes the cops get the order to put out speed traps and get their quota. They will tell you that they do not have quatas, but a cop told me they do. Even the patrol cops that have to write one or two a shift.

The police here are very slack when it comes to handing out tickets, I am amazed at what people get away with here. An officer from Calgary would have his ticket book empty by noon.
I really have to tone my speeding down when I return to Alberta ( I usually drive 10 to 15K over here, hwy 20k ), speeders get ticketed at anything over 5 kpm in a 50 zone and over 10 kpm in a 100 zone, depending on how the cop feels at the moment. There is minimal speeding, NO running red lights, NO not coming to a complete stop at a 4 way and very few people do not signal, and all of these are rampant in Quebec.

Generally, they do sweeps in the spring and fall. At this time of year it is near schools.
