What about all the guys who PM us ladies for services and dates? Shouldn't you ban them as well? The solicitation laws are the same for the male and female sides.

Yep there are ways and not only for Admins. If admins happen to connect to the Vbulletin MySQL DB over an unsecured channel, then LE might as well ask admin's ISP to reveal his/her DB credentials and then get access to all the data including PMs.
There is a difference in that the ladies who solicit by PM are beating MERB out of advertising income. The only thing the guys are beating is their cocks which is why they are sending those PMs.
Yup EB you are completely right, Merb is interested in getting money from the advertisers, let's not pretend they really care about the solicitation laws or else, guy members who communicate with an SP to set a date would get a permanent ban too. And there are a lot of you who wouldn't be allowed here anymore.
Anyhow, I personally find it annoying when guys communicate with my via PM to set a date. I don't come on here everyday, but I do check my emails every day. And, when I advertise, my email and website are clearly indicated in the ads.

There is no difference. Such actions are against MERB rules no matter if it is a provider or a client sending the PM. If we receive a complaint, we will act on it.
First of all, we are moderators not admins and have no access to the internal workings of the site. Nor do we wish such access. Second is that if LE were to ask for any access to MERB`s vBulletin database they would have to have a court order. Finally,as it has been stated many times before, we cannot read PMs. It is very easy for a member to state that we can when they do not have to, and cannot, prove it. You may as well make a statement that moderators follow members around on dates taking photos for our files. It would be just as ridiculous. Making such claims is irresponsible and harmful to the reputation of MERB and it`s moderators and if it continues, we will consider it to be posting false and misleading information and the poster will be subject to suspension. If you nake a statement, you better be willing and able to back it up.

We do this job to enforce the rules and to give something back to a board that has given us much information in the past and to try to ensure that this flow of useful information continues for all members of MERB. When this information ceases to be posted on the board and instead circulates only behind the scenes among small groups of people by PM, it damages the community as a whole. Without such information being posted, MERB will be of no use to anyone and will have no reason to continue to exist.
If advertisers decide to stop paying for advertising due to those who find ways to advertise for free, whether by PM or by members posting links to non-advertisers sites or ads on free sites such as Craigslist and 123, there will be no money for MERB to pay it`s operating costs. No money, no MERB.
All members should realize that if MERB were to close due to lack of money or be shut down due to solicitation and booking being done by PM, everyone loses. Yes, we do try to make sure that our advertisers are protected from those who advertise for free but only because of the fact that advertisers and the money they pay to do so is what keeps MERB alive. It is for every member`s benefit, not for the benefit of the moderators personally.

I am not sure I understand what the problem would be if a male member contacted a MERB paying advertiser by PM. For example, if I were to contact Jessy by PM and ask her if I could see one of her ladies, what would be the problem? This is not to say I would do that, as I know Jessy's agency's contact info. But I am curious what the rationale would be in banning me if I did, as both Jessy and I are supporting members.
Other than that situation, I agree that the rule should be enforced. My earlier post was simply intending to point out the difference in intentions between female and male solicitations.
Also, I don't know whose post implied that the Mods enforce the rule to maximize advertising revenue and therefore Moderator compensation, but I think it is generally understood that the Moderators are not compensated and perform a thankless task. That being said, I would not lose any sleep if Fred Zed used any of my money to give the Mods a stipend of some kind, though I think it is highly unlikely he ever would. For some reason it reminds me of a big dispute when I was in law school. I was on the editorial board of the law review and the law school decided to give us some money and let us decide how we would spend it. There was a big fight amongst the board as to whether we should use the money to give ourselves stipends or instead use the money to buy glitzy commemorative plaques memorializing our service on the editorial board. Some of the editorial members thought we would somehow be immoral if we paid ourselves a stipend as opposed to getting the stupid fucking plaques. It was put to a vote of the 9 members and we voted 5-4 to stipend ourselves. I voted in the majority for the stipends because I thought it was a stupid fucking issue, the 4 who wanted plaques were morons, and most importantly I needed the money.

You said that you can't read PM's. Well, the admin can do it if he add the "read pm" add-on/hack on the forum. But since hes not a dumbass I'm sure he will not but if he really want, he can. So these people that advertise in PM should watch out..
