Name me one professional sports team owner who isn't in it for the same reasons.
sometimes you have to spent money before cashing the money
Actually, there are a lot of billionaires for whom it seems more of a vanity project. Jerry Jones, Mark Cuban and the Molsons may end up making money, but is not clear to me what was their primary motivation in buying their teams.

Last i looked, the habs are at the cap limit
Think they'd still want to hang on to their franchises if they were losing money?
Great point and absolutely true. They did not become billionaires because they like to lose money. If this was to start to happen and they could not make a quick fix, they would sell in a heartbeat for the right offer. making money is an addiction to guys like that and as soon as they "Stop" making it, they move on to something else to protect their fortunes.
Exactly. Plus, they still have to re-sign Carey Price & P.K.
What could save them is if Markov has to retire. But i doubt this will happen.
My guess is that they might have to bite the bullet & buy out some contracts or send a player to the minors.
I totally agree. Look, i'm sure there are many of those billionaire owners that love sports as much as we do & are passionate about it. Who wouldn't want an owner like Eugene Melnyk or Mark Cuban? However, it's still a business & if they'd lose money, their fortunes would suffer & there's no way in hell they'd want to hang on to their investment.
One exception: Mike Illitch, the best and classiest owner in sports.
I like Mike Illitch. I can't say a bad word about him. I hate Little Cesars's Pizza. It's crap! Mr. Illitch is one of the most passionate & generous owners in professional sports. But Mr. Illitch is also in it for the money & he'd sell the team as soon as it would start losing money.
Little Caesar's.
Wikipedia rocks! Little Caesar's is correct, thanks JC.
Wasnt that Dominoes Pizza?
Mister 69, Tom Monaghan owns Domino's Pizza. He used to own the Detroit Tigers until he sold them to that prick Mike Illitch.
You spelled "prince" wrong : "prick" is a different word (look up Albert Belle for the definition!).
And besides, I used to party late into the night at Chez Paree with Corson and Carboneau and others back in the day and it never hurt their performance on the ice.
I totally agree. SK & I partyied it up with a Bruins legend a few years ago & he didn't even miss his game on the following day & actually scored a couple of goals.
