Great comeback by Nadal! However, Nadal was very fortunate that Noxax was kicked out of the Aussie Open! Nadal essentially won this tournament by default!Nadal has just taken Medvedev into a 5th set after losing the first 2. He wants Major #21. He can taste it. But will his fitness hold up?
Oh yeah: Just "take out" his THIRTEEN French Open wins...and he's "only" left with EIGHT other major championships. Gee, what an "ordinary Joe"!Nadal will always be labelled as a red clay court tennis player...period! You take out Nadal's 13 wins at the French Open and he's just an ordinary Joe!
Ok I apologize!...I meant "ordinary José"!... Gee, what an "ordinary Joe"!
Well said.... brillant...on this can't agree more....Oh yeah: Just "take out" his THIRTEEN French Open wins...and he's "only" left with EIGHT other major championships. Gee, what an "ordinary Joe"!
While we're following such brilliant thinking, why don't we just "take out" Roger's Wimbledon titles and Novak's Australian ones? Then all three are just "ordinary Joes" who would STILL have a ton of major championships!
This question was asked and answered earlier in the thread. The newer generation is simply not that good. Some of the players are talented, but are mental midgets and do not know how to win and do not really have a high tennis IQ. Federer, for example, had one of the highest tennis IQs I ever saw. The most creative player ever was McEnroe, who had an unreplicable high ball toss on his serve which made it unpredictable, impeccable serve placement and a very creative assortment of volleys. The current generation of young players don't know when to use certain shots, do not study their opponents and try to exploit their weaknesses, and just do not think the game. They are just out there playing and hitting shots. Lots of guys on tour just try to overpower their opponents with big forehands. They are sort of throwbacks to Ivan Lendl, but not as good. Ironically, Zverev hired Lendl to coach him but then fired him, stating that Lendl was more interested in his dog and working on his golf game than he was in improving Zverev.Like seriously...why can't the new generation of new tennis players like Medvedev, Zverev, etc take out the old Legends?
Pathetic new generation, imo.
