The jury is still out on Bergevin. Way too early. He was lucky to get Vanek at the trade deadline last season (he was only able to get him because the Leafs couldn't stay under the cap) and for me, an outsider, he hasn't done much since other than to sign PK Subban to that ridiculous $72 million contract. A prominent member of the habs media said the other day that he's convinced Subban won't finish his career with the habs just because of that ridiculously high contract.
And if you ask me, Bergevin dropped the ball at the trade deadline. Getting Petrie from Edmonton was a good move since he didn't give up much, but the trades with Anaheim and Buffalo didn't do much to help the team if you ask me. All it did was trade a very skilled young Russian for a fatter PK lookalike and with the Buffalo trade, get a couple of 3rd/4th liners which forced their best faceoff man (Manny Malhotra) to the pressbox.
Bergevin failed to address the team's needs at the deadlnie....a top center, a top forward and a dependable backup goalie. TOTAL FAILURE!!
It is obvious that these are your view on Bergevin and not someone who has knowledge of hockey and most
especially the Montreal Canadiens. I know it is confusing to you this year as to what determines success and what determines failure.
You see success in failure i.e. drafting#4.
From what I last heard, Suppan is nominated for the Norris and he wins or looses, he is considered the top 3 defence man in the league
whether you or I agree.
There was one game in the Ottawa series where Flynn and Mitchell won the game for the Habs.
P.S. Didn't quite understand your comment in a fatter PK lookalike. Smith-Pelly is a forward.
Booker is correct in my view:thumb:
