I tried to watch it but it was too painful to watch. 3-on-3 hockey isn't NHL hockey. I love 3-on-3 hockey during the regular season when they're in overtime and both teams giving it their all. But 3-on-3 in the all-star game is a joke and the players are barely trying and it all seems like a big joke out there!
I don't fucking care who wins the million dollars, to tell you the truth. It actually makes me sick that the league has to bribe the players with a million dollar prize in order to get them to perform a little bit. Okay there were a few players out there who seemed to be trying, among them Connor McDavid and Brad Marchand. But it was too tough to watch and i stopped halfway into the first game.
The skills competition a day earlier was better. I watched the fastest skater and hardest shot competition. Those two were the only ones that interested me.
For me the all-star weekend is a big snoozer! I'd rather see 5-on-5 hockey (like it's meant to be) than 3-on-3 in such a game. How do you promote your product when it's not even what you're showing?? If 3-on-3 hockey is so great then why not have it during the playoffs when they go into an endless overtime period?? I'd be all for that.
It's also a joke that each team must have a player at the all-star game. Many people were saying that Carey Price had no business there. But who the hell do you send if you're the Habs? Paul Byron? Philip Danault? Brendan Gallagher? Nicholas Deslauriers??
What the hell was Brian Boyle doing there?? He himself was telling people that he's no all-star. Was he there for sympathy reasons?? If so then it's sad.
