wrong again, what you said in your quoted post was pure drivel and doesnt belong here, please remove unless your trying to start your S**T Disturbing in here when specifically told to knock this crap off in this thread, there is another thread for that, not here. and again this goes back to if your buddy jumps off a bridge would you?

Please as i said, respect the Mods wishes in here, you can respond if you like but i am done with your non hockey silliness in this thread only to start a flame war where we have been asked to Cease and desist. respect is a good thing, at least give it to the mods

Perhaps referring to the thoughts of a fellow poster as "drivel" is not what was intended for a serious hockey thread. Physician, heal thyself.

that does not prove anything, we all knew it was going to be hit or miss as it was not Burkes team yet, we as fans were excited and there is nothing wrong with showing that excitement, BUT the major difference is we believe in one of the BEST gm's in the NHL, Brian Burke, and at the begining of the season it was 50% "his team" now it is more 80% "his team" , and by October, it will be 95-100% "HIS TEAM" depending on what happens in the offseason... a true fan supports their team through everything, not just when they win 3 games in a row like alot of fake fans i know of :)

Translation (lg speaking): "I was wrong with my predictions as usual but I will never admit to it. Instead I will attempt to prove my point by saying that what happened this year doesn't count and by AGAIN (as usual) talking about how wonderful the future will be. No problem, because if by some miracle I turn out to be right, I'll look like a hero and if, as usual, I turn out to be wrong, I'll just again say the year didn't count, make bold predictions for the NEXT year, insult anyone who disagrees with me, ignore the facts and stats, and make things up left, right, and center."

Yes lg, respect IS a good thing. Please reread your 2000+ posts and observe how very often you have failed to treat fellow posters with respect. Hint: name-calling, insults, and lies are not considered respectful in most quarters.

wrong again, respect is a 2 way street, those who deserve it get it, pretty simple as in life. and in THIS THREAD, the Mods have asked for 100% respect so why do you keep up with the S**T Disturbing? let it go... just cause someone posts something about the Leafs in a good light is not cause for more lame comments when this thread is not about that, if you dont like good things concerning the Leafs then just simply dont post, is that so hard? you have the other threads to do so, so ONCE AGAIN, please respect the Mods decisions. it is not hard, just go to the other threads with the silliness. ok?

Thank You... and even tho i said my last post was done with your silliness, i had to make my point once again, now, back to respectfull hockey discussions my good ole buddy?

Please refer to the underlined portion above and then please reflect on the concepts of integrity and of sticking to one's word.

"Back to hockey" - you mean like your recent posts here?
"Could of (sic) just agreed and moved on" - you mean like the three retaliatory posts you made after promising to drop the subject?
"Respectful hockey discussions" - you mean like your constant insults, falsehoods, sarcasm, and lack of respect even in your recent posts and even in this quoted passage?
I've already said "Physician heal thyself" so I'll try another line: read your own posts and then look in a mirror - then try to be honest about what you see.

Dude, do you even realise your doing exactly what your accusing me of? (key word being accuse) i think you should go thru and see just how many posts AFTER THE MODS ASKED US TO PLAY NICE A FEW WEEKS AGO in this thread you have made about any kind of hockey w/o being sarcastic, and then my posts, which mainly are to do with hockey until you get upset about it because you cant play by the mods rules. If you dont like talking hockey without the sarcasm then simply do not post, IF hearing Leafs fans talk good about their team and posting good articles on the Leafs infuriates you so much then simply do not read them, this is the "real and serious hockey talk thread" and Leafs fans have every right to talk about our team w/o childish temper tantrums from non Leafs fans, just like you and other habs fans have the same rights also, respect that like the Mods asked you to, is it so hard?

Well it looks like people just cannot play nice and it seems this thread needs a cleaning once again. As that is the case, this thread is closed until I have the time to pass a vacuum. It should be re-opened tomorrow evening or maybe the day after.

I have decided to re-open this thread but did not bother to take the time to clean it up. Frankly, it isn't worth the effort. I am expecting everyone to conduct themselves properly in this thread from here on out.

Any post in this thread that attacks another member will result in a long suspension and the closure of all hockey threads.

Final warning.

Tampa ready to sack GM Brian Lawton?

It's rumored that new Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik doesn't want to keep GM Brian Lawton around, but it may all depend on who the new CEO is.

And that hire might take some time because there are indications Vinik isn't going to hire anyone quickly. Instead, he has indicated it's more important to hire the right person than hire someone early.

So the Tampa Tribune speculates that a new CEO will be hired with plenty of time before the NHL draft, because the CEO will need to decide whether he wants Lawton running the show.

That said, we know former Ottawa Senators president/CEO Roy Mlaker is interested in the job, and former Dallas Stars president Jim Lites, the NFL's Seattle Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke, former Lightning COO Sean Henry and former Lightning president Rob Campbell will all be interested.

(I've heard from sources that Phil Esposito might be back in the fold sooner than later)

Rumors heard around the league

Plekanec close to a deal

The Montreal Canadiens' extension talks with Tomas Plekanec are making progress and CBC's Scott Morrison said on Hockey Night In Canada, "They haven't agreed to terms, but they're on the same page in terms of the financials."

Plekanec is 27, ready for his big contract, and will likely demand something between $5 and $6 million, so it'll be interesting how the Habs work this out financially. Habs Inside/Out worked out the numbers, and new Habs GM Pierre Gauthier better have some magic up his sleeve because it's hard to see how that much money fits under the cap.

They have $44 million committed to 11 players already, plus several restricted free agents they'll want to keep -- Sergei Kostitsyn, Carey Price and/or Jaroslav Halak and others -- as well as guys to simply fill out four lines of forwards.

NHL salary cap likely to rise

Many thought the NHL salary cap would stay the same or even drop. But CBC's Glenn Healy said on Hockey Night in Canada he thinks growth this year will be 1 percent, "mostly because of the strong Canadian dollar," so the cap will go up by $900,000 for a $57.7 million cap.

Teams like the Blackhawks, Canucks and Bruins will benefit most from this, since they are likely going to have some financial finagling to do this offseason.

Today's news around the NHL

Hints that Kovy may stay in NJ ?

Ilya Kovalchuk told the New York Post he wasn't going to negotiate a new contract until the New Jersey Devils are out of the playoffs. This indicates that Kovy is open to staying in New Jersey, even though he surely know their cap situation may not allow him to sign a $100-plus million over 10 years, like he demanded in Atlanta before he was dealt.

The Post wonders if Kovy is more likely to stay if the Devils win the Stanley Cup or lose it -- "his championship quest would continue" -- but we do know his teammates hope he'll stay with the team.

The biggest problem, of course, is money. Chances are, the Devils will offer him a deal that yields him less cash than what was offered in Atlanta, but if he's going to ask for a contract that makes him a cap hit of around $10 million, it's hard to see him staying in Jersey.

More fallout from Pronger critique

First, the New York Post's Larry Brooks quotes two NHL GMs about what the Philadelphia Flyers' problem was, and both GMs said it was Chris Pronger. Brooks said Pronger "has a reputation for splitting locker rooms as well as heads."

Pronger was none too happy. He told CSN, "[Brooks] likes to stir the pot. He's good at it. I don't take credence to anything that comes from people like that's mouth."

Ah, but it wasn't over yet. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette criticized those GMs quoted in the piece. He told the Philadelphia Inquirer, "If they are, then they probably should focus on the playoffs. If they're not, they should probably look at their own team."

However, a split locker room for the Flyers might not be completely off base. The Inquirer's Sam Carchidi writes, "Mike Richards, the Flyers' young captain, is a quiet sort who shuns the spotlight -- and doesn't like to criticize. One theory being floated is that some players follow Pronger's lead, while others follow Richards'."

And this, from TSN's James Duthie: "Was in Phoenix today. It's a bad sign when your cab driver, who has lived here for 9 years, doesn't have a clue where the hockey rink is."

Seguin named top North American prospect by Central Scouting

Tyler Seguin is the top-ranked North American skater heading into this year's NHL draft, according to NHL Central Scouting.

The Plymouth Whalers forward was placed ahead of Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires in the final rankings released Wednesday.

Hall had be No. 1 in the January mid-term rankings.

There was more movement in the top five.

Forward Brett Connolly of the Prince George Cougars jumped up to third and was followed by Kingston Frontenacs defenceman Erik Gudbranson and Spitfires defenceman Cam Fowler, who dropped from No. 3 in the mid-term rankings.

The draft will be held June 25-26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
