That's a passive + dismissive attitude towards a play that the Dman could've eased up on being down 0-4 with 14secs in the 2nd. It was a bad as hitting a player from behind on an icing play.

Look at all the time Chara had to push Max over the bench or just nail him straight INTO the boards before the stanchion. He knew exactly where he was on the ice, just like he knew where ever rut in the ice probably was that evening. It's not a Habs-Bruins debate. It's a hockey debate.

lgna, I would have accepted a three game suspension. I would have preferred 5 but three would have been better than nothing. Zero games is a farce and a disgrace and another chance to put some order into the game passed by, by the NHL. What do you think their next game on the 24th will be like? Who's next on the Bruin's hitlist?

As far as what teams or players were involved, I'd feel the same way if it were two totally different players from two totally different teams. Wrong is wrong.

And I'm not interested in the brand of hockey that Chara is growing. That way will only lead to someone getting killed.

Although i dont believe Chara meant to hurt the guy, i do think the league could of gave him at least a one-three game suspension, just to save face from the wrath of Montreal fans who cry about everything. Sorry, but it is true. It is a case like has been said of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, nothing more. You will see the turnbuckles in EVERY arena having safety upgrades soon.

PS. dont believe me about the "crying" game, go to habfans.com, on a nightly basis, whenever the habs lose, you will see multiple threads about how the refs screwed the habs, its pathetic.

In this interview, Chara says he didn't even know that it was Pacioretty he had hit. I have a big problem believing that. We can see in the pic above that he is staring straight at his back.

I guess that other players don't have a habit of running someone face first into it. I never knew that was a normal play. Does Chara practice it on a regular basis?

The fact is that the turnbuckle was there and Chara knew it was there. Saying that if it wasn't there everything would have been ok makes no difference. It wasn't the first time Chara played in that rink. He knew it was there and he knew where he was on the rink. How about this IF? IF Chara hadn't put his arm out and pushed Max face first into the turnbuckle, things would have been OK. But guess what? He DID stick out his arm and push his head into the turnbuckle and Max paid the price for it.

And Chara still hasn't said he's sorry it happened.

Pros VS Armchair players... reaction time of Pro athletes is so much faster than us, ok ok, of you guys LOL ... that's why you + I can't touch a 82mph fastball comin' in on a clothesline - avg human reaction time.

Also, Pros play with their head up.

As for why a player should "play soft" ... because as a courtesy the next time your face is near a stanchion you don't want an opposing player pushing your head into it, padded or unpadded. There's a code, some guys simply don't give a crap until they're on the receiving end, then they get their neck snapped with a face plant into something solid ... so I'm saying I didnt like Pacioretty's Jan8 shove of Chara but the price he paid was overboard.

Nailed it. I actually was watching this game live and it was pretty clear that Chara waited until the right moment to slam Max. Football players adjust to new rules every year. All games change and, hopefully, evolve. There are illegal actions in the crease in hockey that would have been allowed 50 years ago, but changes were made to protect the goalie and players adjusted. Players can adjust to a no check zone in hockey.

Iggy's claim that his playing midget hockey (at 30, probably) makes him an expert is laughable. These guys are some of the best athletes in the world, other, of course, than Bartolo Colon.
