I have no problems with the OP venting. I applaud it. Because at least it tells me there's still sanity in Montreal. I just like to believe (haha) that this is a board for johns, not SPs. As delusional as that may be...
And, apparently, I AM one of those cheapaases, who unrealistically believe an hour with a desirable women should be priced as cheaply as effin' possible!
Duh, of course, I get it won't be zero, and there are market forces pushing the price up endlessly. But consumers shouldn't volunteer to pay higher prices. Just not the natural order of things.
Unless SPs in a market consistently deliver great service, like Korean escorts in LA in the aughts (the service was straight 8's and above, and with the plastic surgery, all those girls were 7+, mostly 8+), I'm hesitant to pay a premium. Montreal has always had a hit-or-miss element to its SPs - one in every 3-5 encounters you get a nutjob or a dud (which made MERB valuable when there were real critical reviews). But Montreal rates were priced low enough, you didn't mind the inherent risk of getting a dud. The math evened out.
The last few years, the math hasn't worked out. Because girls here are seemingly getting older, fatter, more inked, just generally less attractive. Of course, there are still gems. But lower quality + higher rates = just not as fun anymore.
Back to my first point on sanity in Montreal... Not just SPs, but the whole city feels "broken" to me. Montreal was never cheap, even 20 years ago. But it was always solid value. You had a spectrum of options. Cheap hotels, fair food prices. Even 5 years ago, pre-COVID, I could find plenty of hotels around and under $100 USD per night. Good restaurants were $50-80 CAD per person. Now? Even shitty hotels are priced above $100 USD. Most basic ones are $150 USD and above. Restaurants now price out at $100 CAD and more, easily, per person. Who is paying these prices?? Are Americans from New York and Boston creating this inflation? Or is the divide between "rich" and "poor" even greater now in Montreal amongst the locals? I don't get it. Canada's financial readouts suggest a stable economy, at least not cratering like Germany's. But the actual inflation of things I consume, feel out of control. It sucks.
Compare that to Europe, where I spend a third of my year in (which has its own issues) - but hotels and food, and good hotels and food, can still be had at much lower prices. I'd much rather spend my time in Europe, where I can get more bang for my buck.
