Reaching a bit aren't we?

What a classless prick, did you see how he taunted the other guy when he scored over him
This should not happen in college ball. I guess he's honing himself for the NBA.
Bird, Jordan or Johnson didn't act like that. They talked trash but never taunted their foes.
Not knowing anything about him other than the fact that he is a very good basketball player don't you think its a stretch to make a statement like that about someone?
I agree there is too much "in your face" attitude on sports. ALL SPORTS, Pro AND Amatuer alike, hell they even taunt each other in high school. That being said it is quite common and shouldn't shock anyone who watches a lot of sports nearly so much.
As far as Morrison being animated in his attitude towards the opposing teams try to imagine what its like having a target on you all game long. Having a guy draped over your back, holding you, slapping at you, hitting you, slamming into you, knocking you down, and anything else they can get away with and then you'll have an idea of what its like to be Adam Morrison. Not to mention, the other guys are talking to him all game long trying to get into his head.
Morrison is an extreme competitor and for the most part his reactions during games are typical for players of his caliber and personality. I do agree with EB that he wasn't involved enough during the last 4 minutes of that game but his performance was nothing to be ashamed of, unlike Reddicks uncharacteristic 3-18, Morrison was 11-18 and had the highest scoring average in the tournament (24.3) of players who were in more than one game. Just a note to consider about him as well, he is a Diabetic, which makes his performance all the more amazing.
BTW, trash talking IS taunting, and Bird, and Jordan were extremely animated players who never shyed away from a challenge. It actually should play well to NBA scouts that Morrison is so animated because it reflects his desire to inflict his will on his opponent in order to crush his psyche which was Michael Jordans trademark. Phil Jackson described Jordan as a "Shark" and talked about how he would go into "Shark mode."
The one image I remember of Jordan more than any other was his posterization of Patrick Ewing, one of his best friends, and most oft vanquished opponents. After throwing down a vicious dunk directly over the 7"1' Ewing with Ewing in his face challenging his path to the rim, Jordan slowly skipped backwards while staring directly into Ewings eyes which were averted out of sheer embarassment over what had just happened to him. Jordan shook his head ever so slightly as if saying "Don't you EVER try to block my path to the rim again!" A lot of NBA afficionados will tell you that it was a defining moment in both of their careers. Jordan had put Ewing in his place so to speak and the Knicks were never able to beat the Bulls who won 6 Championships with Jordan.
Jeff Van Gundy once said that Jordan liked to sucker his opponents in to being soft by being nice to them and would then exploit that (supposedly) fake good will by embarassing them on the court. Jordan was so inflamed by this that he dropped forty+ on the Knicks the next time he played them and stared down Van Gundy (the Knicks coach btw) all game long and even taunted him after the game was over! Jordan actually learned a lot about trash talking from Larry legend who infamously exchanged barbs with Jordan during Jordans record 63 point performance against the Celtics in the playoffs. He always said how much he learned from Larry because while he was concentrating on utterly showing up his opponent Larry was concentrating on getting his team a W. When Jordan realized this he changed his focus, and it all started with trash talking.
If Hockey fans can justify two guys bashing each others faces in, call it entertainment in the same breath, and market it to kids, as a serious sports fan you really have to ask if a little taunting in basketball is worth even mentioning.
