It must be for some like the irrepressible impulse to gawk at others being stupid. I took a quick Youtube glimpse of The Social and it doesn't look nearly as bad as many reality shows. Swamp People, Tabatha's Salon Takeover, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, I've seen segments of some of these shows and my reaction is typically...WTF!!!. Look at Duck Dynasty. It's all over the news because of some homophobic comments but though I've heard the name I've never seen any of it. I just heard on CNN that's it's watched by 14 million people every week. Are you kidding me! I didn't want to say anything without seeing any of it so I just watched a clip of several minutes from season 5...REALLY??? There have been 5 seasons of yokels waiting to shoot ducks? Damn!
Maybe seeing different slices of life from micro-cultures like this each week could be entertaining/informative. But the same boobs doing the same thing every week for 5 seasons. NUTZ! I've caught some segments of these rich prima donna housewives of whatever county once in while because I got carried away on the internet and they were on before I noticed. But Yikes. One might reasonably expect these wealthy perfectly coiffed, over-baked lovers of Gucci, Versace, Fendi, Dior, Armani, Tiffany, etc, had some real breeding and class, but their manners of speech, attitudes and behavior overall are like being better dressed rich living brats risen from the swamp. No wonder people are willing to watch The Social. It's actually a step up from a lot of other real crap.

I'll let everyone in on a little secret...well...maybe not a "secret" to everyone...but to most.
Television Networks are ultimately controlled by the governments and will do what governments tell them to do, ie; which shows to air.
Although I have never watched any if these types of shows, I am aware of their existence.
These new age "reality" shows...which seem to be the most mind-numbing things on television...are also the most addictive...it would seem. And they are...the numbers prove that. They also serve a purpose.
These shows (pick one, there's dozens now) were designed to distract the masses. Most people see a commercial for some dumb-ass show and figure they will check it out...just to see how dumb it really is. Since the majority of people nowadays are a combination if weak-minded and bored with their lives...next thing you know...there's 14 million watching some hick in a swamp killing gators.
The ultimate purpose...distract the public from the truth.
Society is crumbling around us. The entire planet is teetering on the edge of chaos.
Keep the masses distracted...and maybe they will ignore the fact that they are about to be engulfed by a failing societal structure.

A bit dangerous in a lightning storm. Television is a means of mass distraction and so is the Internet, and other means of mass communication. It is controlled and monitored by Government. Which is why the NSA are now monitoring cell phone usage. BIG BROTHER IS EVERYWHERE.
