Gilligan's Island

One of the most popular tv series of all time was abruptly cancelled because one of CBS' top executives had found out he and his wife's favorite tv series 'Gunsmoke' was going to be cancelled due to poor ratings. He would have none of it and ordered his people to come up with a plan to make it fit into the schedule. One of the ideas put forward was to cancel to 30-minute tv series in primetime and insert Gunsmoke in their slot. One of those series was Gilligan's Island, which that executive hated. So he gave them the thumbs up and Gunsmoke wound up replacing Gilligan's Island and the other series. Gunsmoke actually had a revival and had very high ratings the season it was brought back. As for Gilligan's Island, the actors and producer were very disappointed to learn about the cancellation of the show since they had been told the series would be renewed.

I must have seen every episode of Gilligan's Island over fifty times.

Gang Related
on Fox from May 22 to August 14, 2014 - The series follows the personal and professional lives of the members of the elite Los Angeles Police Department's multi-agency Gang Task Force as they take on the city's most dangerous gangs, including one with which a task force member has ties.
Mixed interest... still a tad better then some

Charlie's Angels

When this series first appeared i was entering the age of puberty. And when that infamous poster of Farrah Fawcett-Majors came out, i placed my order and a week later it was hanging on my bedroom wall, right next to my bed. I don't remember how many times i fell asleep at night staring at that poster, imagine she was naked in bed with me until i feel asleep. And a couple of years later, she was replaced by the equally gorgeous Cheryl Ladd and that bikini shot of her when the opening credits constantly gave me boners and made me fantasize further.......lordy!!!!

The show was never the same after Cheryl Ladd left the show. They tried a few actresses to fill her shoes and it never worked out, eventually leading to a cancellation of the show due to its disappearing viewership.

My favorite episode of all? Angels in Chains. I fell in love with Farrah Fawcett-Majors in that episode. That shower scene!!!! Woo-woo!!!! :D

I loved Twin Peaks, although I feel the first season was a lot better than the second one, which seemed to have lost its way. The follow-up movie Fire Walk with Me was pretty good, but IMHO it failed to capture what made season one brilliant.

Twin Peaks! Definitely a fan. "It is happening, again..."

For what I know, David Lynch wrote the entire first season. But he was forced to deal with the writers on its second season for which he wasn't pleased, obviously. He apparently revealed on norvegian tv broadcaster, who killed Laura Palmer. It made all sense to me when I heard the name. Now, let see if he will carry on in 2017 with the revival.

Spartacus was more of a mini-series. It wasn't cancelled. It had simply run its course. He was executed in the final episode, which we all knew was imminent if we knew his history. Great series, though. One of my favorites at the time.

If Andy Whitfield didn't pass away Spartacus would be about five to seven years as opposed to just three seasons. Four if you count Gods of the Arena.

Although i once loved The X-Files, i welcomed its cancellation. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) wasn't even part of the story anymore and his character had pretty much been replaced by the Robert Patrick character. Most of the episodes didn't make any sense anymore and they totally lost me as a viewer.

Three great series from the past:

High Chapperal

Probably my favorite western series of all-time, even more than Bonanza, Have Gun Will Travel and Rawhide. Luckily for me, many "High Chapperal" episodes can be found on You Tube and they are all of high quality. Still not available on dvd.

Rod Serling's Night Gallery

I actually saw this series before i ever heard of the Twilight Zone. It played in the very early 70's if i remember correctly. It may have lasted two seasons. It was similar to the Twilight Zone series, but in color. Why it got cancelled, i have no clue. I bought the series on dvd.

La Feuille d'Erable

This was a great series that was produced by Radio-Canada. It dealt with early french-canadian history and various members of the Bellerose family. It was probably my favorite series as a child growing up. I don't believe there are any episodes left, having been destroyed by the corporation since.

You just made me flashback to my childhood. Lying down on the brown shag wall to wall carpeting while staring up at the TV lol!
