What happened to the VIP events?

There have been announced and open parties both before and after the VIP events. The VIP parties were run as a for-profit business by a non-resident of Canada. That did not play well with the authorities. It had nothing to do with C-36 as there were no illegal activities at any of the parties. The only illegal activity was an American running a business in Canada. Any legal Canadian resident could re-start them without problem.
First, they did not stop before C-36 and they did not stop because of C-36.
Second, since the end of the VIP series, there have been at least three very public parties widely advertised right here on merb and held in public venues that were rented out for the evening by the agencies who held these events. Nothing illegal transpired at any of these parties. They were simply meet and greet.

VIP8 was raided by undercover cops who were mingling with the party goers and left peacefully after half an hour. While there they chatted with the organizers and checked some id`s I mistook one of the cute female undercover cops for an escort and tried to chat with her, but lucky for me she ignored me.
Lots of rumours as to what went wrong but some things happened that are not mentioned in this thread . There was jealous based rumours spreading from an agency owner, a competing board member , and a couple of Indies and a N.Y. guy who hated lggy Don`t believe everything that you`ve heard. Get your facts from the guy selling the tickets....

Whoa...I didn't know about this. I remember there was one time that the cops showed up publicly at one of the VIP parties and went around. But nothing really happened and they left after 30 minutes or so. Supposedly they showed up I think because people were drinking on the balcony. Or so I hear, anyways.
It's a real shame about the demise of the VIP parties. Iggy's a great guy, and was a real merit to our MERB community. Would be great to see him again, regardless of parties or no parties.
It was the word "undercover" that threw me off. There was nothing undercover about it...they were in uniform, etc. So I thought maybe this was a different incident or something.
I remember that it was like yesterday (Me and few others not far from you we observed that and we had a little chuckle).
The Bill C-36 has nothing to do with it, these were just GTs and nothing illegal was going on, Rumple and Cloudsurf

Cops, they don't have to wait for GTs once in a blue moon, if they want to take any action, all they have to do is come on MERB and
read all the reviews (And people incriminating themselves).
These parties take lots of hard work to organize it and the "Master Organizer" who did an excellent job is no longer available to
take care of this stuff.

I agree with this. I enjoyed all the ones I went to. They eventually got to be fairly big events. I remember one at a restaurant on Crescent Street, since closed. This was the one at which I met Anna of Adagio and it occurred in November 2015. Somehow some way I did not notice Jasmine of Mirage who was also introduced at that party. Randy Johson (the hobbyist not the pitcher) later told me about her and I met her 3-4 weeks later. Neither one of us saw or met the other at that party despite both of us being there for a long period of time. Jasmine was an extremely hot little Indian spinner, the kind of girl I would usually notice in a party, and I couldn’t understand for the life of me how in hell I missed her. I later concluded it was 2 things, (1) size of party and venue, and (2) I spent a lot of that party ogling Anna, having drinks with Crystal Ivy, and also talking to a very attractive black/mixed racial Indy from Toronto whose name now escapes me, but was very popular at that time. 5’8”, lean, large natural breasts, had an incall in the Gay Village, nice lady and great service.
That was the most memorable VIP party because I met Anna, missed Jasmine, and also met the Indy from Toronto all of whom I later saw and all of whom were great!

Beav I believe that you are referring to Adriana Chambers. I had the good fortune to see her twice. I would guess that she has since retired.
Cloudsurf your memory is better than mine, good for you that your mind is sharp on these details, which is important. Yes it was Adriana. I only saw her once but had a great time with her. Her and Crystal Ivy were probably the two best black escorts I met in my life and both I met in Montreal. I think Crystal may be retired as well.
Iggy made it look so easy, but it takes lots of hard work behind the scene to organize such events.
Imagine you have to put up with all the SPs, agencies, clients, who say one thing then maybe show up or don't show up at all
the day of the event.
Jasmine (Melodie) of Unicorn organized a very successful Halloween party few years back and then tried another one at VIP level
which was a mixed success, lots of hard work and expenses incurred by her didn't come to the expectation compared to the
other VIP GTs.
So until the next "Super Organizer" show up, this is it for now.
PS: I like to point out that, because of the VIPs / GTs we were able to hook up, put a face on the MERB handles/users and because of that,
mini GTs are still happening between few friends and groups here and there.

I also remember NYCBadBoy at that party (he is a good friend of mine off the boards) and A128 and Westmed, who at first I thought was Doc Holliday. They could be brothers.
I also remember that party like it was yesterday, as I recall Pat98 was the bartender, and at that one I met lots of XO ladies and a few indies. As I recall one of them was a very attractive MILF I think going by the name of Lana Lush. I later met her, one of the best preserved MILFs I have seen. I also recall an XO girl you had at that time, although not sure if I met her at that party or a VIP, she was a Colombian girl but spoke pretty good English, and was very pretty.
As I recall someone brought in big trays of spring rolls and I think chicken wings. I think they were home cooked and not catered. Was a nice touch.
Unless I am getting confused about parties, also at that party was another very very popular Indy now retired, a brunette, early to mid 20s, nice body, cant recall her name but I think ThorJr. was a favorite client of hers as she spoke fondly of him, anyway she brought along a tall blonde friend who wasn’t even in the business and she and I ended up talking for a substantial part of that party for some reason. I guess I admired her fortitude as an attractive and tall blonde not in the business to put herself out there with a group of seasoned clients who were bound to hit on her. I think she probably had a curiousity and I do recall a few other parties where such non-pro women showed up as friends of escorts, probably just out of sheer curiousity about who goes to such parties.
And of course I remember you too Sammy, not for the reasons mentioned above LOL, but for being a gracious host and planning a good agency party, as a first time endeavor on your part.
Yes definitely good times guys! I miss those parties as well but thankfully I am keeping myself busy these days with my ATF and my dancer from Cleo’s. 
Correctamundo again. My brain is really mush today. Bad Boy also reminded me that he and I went to that party together and the 2 of us chatted with both Lana Lush and Maria Divina, as well as Florence and her non-working friend.
