2016 Obama's America...not so much...15%.

2016 Obama's America is just another typical Republican propoganda film in order to push their right-wing agenda & to try to convince people that Obama is inept & bad, etc.

It's not much difference than Hitler's Nazi party's own "Triumph of the Will" propoganda film, which came out in 1935. For those interested to watch it, it's available on You Tube right here:

Triumph of the Will

For those who enjoyed watching "2016 Obama's America", you'll probably enjoy watching "Triumph of the Will." I recommend that you all bring along some kleenex since you might need some once you've finished viewing this movie.

I beg to differ, Doc. Say what you will about it's content, "Triumph of the Will" is about the best propaganda film ever made. From the reviews I've read, D'Sousa's snoozefest wouldn't convince an empty chair.

You are likely correct. I've watched "Triumph of the Will" and actually enjoyed all the b.s. As for D'Sousa's documentary, i have no interest in watching it since i already know why it was made, what it's about, and that it's a snoozefest. At least the German movie was interesting.

My sugestions :

21 Jump Street : Exellent comedy
6 Bullets : Pretty good for a DTV , star Van Damme

I watch a lot of Old Movies, so i haven't watch that much recent stuff, im really into martial arts movie , recent or old , and comedies in the teen college style. So next on my list ares movies like RAID(look promising) for exemple, but i downloaded one in the chamber with Dolph Lundgren, haven't watch it yet so i will probably before i rent another one.

ps : i both download and rent, but lundgren and van damme, i usually buy anyway from the video club when they pull out copies, so i download first then buy.

Random Harvest (1942)

Not a recent movie, but the most recent movie i've seen. It's probably the 5th or 6th time that i've seen it over the past 30 years or so. It never gets old & i love watching it as much as i did the first time i saw it. As a matter-of-fact, i just finished watching it less than 10 minutes ago.

It stars the great Ronald Coleman & the equally great Greer Garson. The story begins near the end of WWI in 1917, and ends later in the 1920's. It's about a shell-shocked british soldier with amnesia who is institutionalized, then falls in love with a singer shortly after he leaves the hospital. They marry & have a kid. Later while in Liverpool, he's involved in an accident & regains his original memory, but forgets recent events (post-institution). He doesn't remember a thing about the last three years, much to the chagrin of the wife he has no recollection of. I'm not going to give out the rest of the movie's plot, but needless to say, this is a true classic.

I can't wait to watch it again! :thumb:

p.s. Another Ronald Coleman classic that i adore is the Charles Dickens classic "A Tale of Two Cities".

Flight

I saw "Flight" with Denzel Washington yesterday. I must say it is an extremely well done but ultimately a very sad film. Denzel plays a commercial pilot who stages a miraculous crash landing of a Jet which malfunctions in mid-air, saving the lives of the majority of those on board. Unfortunately this heroic act is performed while Denzel is legally intoxicated. We soon learn that Denzel is an alcoholic who tries but is unable to quit drinking, with tragic results for him. The movie focuses mostly on Denzel's struggle with his alcoholism. I found it to be one of the more realistic portrayals of alcoholism that I have seen on film.

Denzel's performance is amazing, and so is that of the supporting cast which includes John Goodman as Denzel's drug supplier/enabler, Bruce Greenwood as the union Chief, and Don Cheadle as the union lawyer who ultimately defends Denzel against possible criminal charges.

It's worth mentioning to Latina lovers (Special K take note) that Nadine Velazquez has an amazing full frontal nude scene at the very beginning of the movie. Nadine plays the stewardess that Denzel is banging during his flight crew's layover in Orlando before the ill-fated flight. Her body is totally smoking and she even has a little patch down below which I thought was all but extinct these days. Consistent with his drinking, Denzel is seen sporting a beer gut in various scenes during the movie.

I am probably going to see the early show of Argo this afternoon and then come home to watch the Giants-Steelers game.

Denzel is a great actor, just saw a clip from "Remember the Titans."

My nomination of best movie of recent is: DREDD or DREDD 3D http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/

...what a great sci-fi, brutal violence, and excellent portrayal of the comic book character.

Must watch if you lean towards sci-fi.

It starts out slow.. and sometimes very hard to understand what they are saying.
But as the movie advances it becomes wow very touching.
If you prefer movies where you sit back and get hypnotized .. this is not for you.
You have to pay attention to everything happening to be able to appreciate the ending.

Based on reincarnation .. we see several characters moving in there evolution.
Some advance and some stay the same.
Amazes me how humanity is such a complex creature !

Skyfall

I saw the new Bond movie this afternoon. It's one of the best Bond movies ever made IMHO.

The cast is great and the plot is very interesting. Like Casino Royale it is a bit long, but the action moves at a very fast pace and there are some very interesting twists and turns.

The most interesting thing about the film is that it pays intense homage to the Bond films of the 1960s. In particular a secret Bond weapon from one of the best (I would say the best) Bond films of the 1960s makes a rather dramatic reappearance in 2012. It is still as effective a secret weapon in 2012 as it was in the 1960s, as the bad guys learn.

In addition to this, we learn the backstory on 2 important characters of the 1960s Bond films who "re-appear" (sort of) at the end of the film. I always wondered watching the 1960s Bond movies about the backgrounds of these characters. They were never explained. Someone who is smart that is making these films noticed this, and took full advantage of the opportunity to explain their backgrounds in this movie. We now have a new perspective on all of the 1960s Bond films as a result.

Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Judi Dench are all stellar and so is Naomi Harris. We are also introduced to a new, younger Q who is as cocky and arrogant and condescending as the original Q back in the 1960s.

Lastly, Bérénice Marlohe, a French actress of mixed French/Chinese ancestry, is stunningly beautiful in the role of Sévérine, the latest in a long line of Bond femme fatales.

An absolute must-see especially for anyone familiar with the mythology of the 1960s Bond films. This is a Bond film for the serious Bond fan.

I just saw Argo this weekend. This is about the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979 where the Iranian students of the revolution stormed the US Embassy. This movie is about the 6 embassy staffers that escaped and hid with the Canadian ambassador until the CIA could sneak them out of Iran. This was the best picture I have seen in several years. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie.

Argo fuck yourself!

Argo

I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie.

It's a true story and you know in advance how it is going to turn out, so it is impossible to be on the edge of your seat, unless you are willing to believe that Ben Affleck has the power to completely alter history as we know it to be.

I had a couple of problems with the movie, although I overall enjoyed it. First was that it is an entirely plot driven movie and the character development is almost nonexistent. You really learn very little about the "houseguests", and as a result you really do not care that much about what happens to them.

Second, the historical inaccuracies disturbed me, most significantly the movie's assertion that the houseguests were "refused" by the UK and New Zealand embassies. This assertion is totally false. I heard that the UK Ambassador to Iran was livid about this distortion of the truth. In reality both countries were very helpful and not giving the USA the "cold shoulder" as depicted in the movie.

I read that Ben Affleck has been very defensive about this particular inaccuracy in press interviews and has said in the movie's defense "we needed to make it believable that these 6 US citizens had no place to go." I realize that with any historical drama the facts need to be changed or embellished, to create drama, but usually it is a good idea not to insult one's western allies when doing that.

It was a good movie but I would not rate it as highly as the critics have. It's totally plot driven and you know the ending in advance. It's not a character driven movie like "Flight". All of that being said, Ben Affleck has been on a bit of a roll lately. I liked "The Town" and "Gone Baby Gone" (which he directed), and "The Company Men" which he didn't.

the first 15 minutes of FLIGHT is great, then it slowly goes downhill imho.
the John Goodman character ruins the movie even though he is funny.

ARGO is good but its better if you do not know the true story.
there are scenes that are too far fetched .... they never happened.
good soundtrack.
the John Goodman character is good.

havent seen the new James Bond movie yet.
is John Goodman in it? ;)

He is not in it but Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem do a great job with supporting actor duties.

Goodman's character in "Flight" was a bit over the top iMHO. His character in "Argo" is better suited to his abilities. My all time favorite Goodman character was his portrayal of the slightly deranged Vietnam veteran Walt Sobchak in "The Big Lebowski."

I thought "Flight" was a movie about alcoholism and must be evaluated as such.

I saw "Skyfall", "Flight" and "Argo" in the past 2 weeks and for my money "Skyfall" was the best entertainment of the 3. I did enjoy all 3 films but Skyfall the most.

I saw the "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie circa 2012 with Adrew Garfield & Emma Stone. This movie was much richer than the original with greater possibilities for additional story development. The acting was superior with Emma Stone & Sally Fields performances being outstanding. The lizard part was a bit weak and not convincing. The main reason for the "re-boot" on this one seems to be an improved abiity for future developement of the franchise.

I enjoyed the movie but I didn't like the changes made in respect to Peter Parker's parents at all. It pisses me off when they start messing around with the basics of the story. I understand that they had to do something to make it fresh and different from the previous movies, but some things shouldn't be fucked with. I missed the presence of Harry Osborne in the movie as he's always been a part of Spiderman as Peter's best friend and really missed JJJ and the Daily Bugle, but I was pleased to see Gwen Stacy back in her proper place. Emma Stone did a great job with the role even if she isn't the bombshell beauty that Gwen was in the comics. The story line with the Lizard as the villain was lacking but I'll be willing to wait and see where this franchise goes in the next movie for a better villain and storyline. I've always felt that Spiderman would fare much better as a television series as to be able to get in proper character development and this movie hasn't changed my mind about that.

The new Total Recall was a complete waste of time. I only made it through the movie because I was thinking that it could only get better as it went along. I was wrong. It only got worse.

I finally saw the Avengers and was unimpressed. The entire story line bored me, probably because I can't get into the Thor mythos at all. The only character that interested me at all was Iron Man and I'm eagerly awaiting the next entry in that franchise. The action was mindless as usual in these movies, once it finally began, and the effects were great as always.

Also watched John Carter this week on MPix and it was much better than I expected seeing as how it bombed at the box-office. Fans of sci-fi should enjoy it.

Recent guilty pleasure: Adam Sandler's That's My Boy. We watched it last night and while the movie as a whole is far from great, it had quite a few moments where we just laughed our asses off. And it has a great soundtrack.

I saw this one at the theatre, or rather, I saw part of it. I walked out about 45 minutes is; what a snoozefest. Mebbe I'm just not a fan of sic-fi.

One I didn't walk out of was Searching for Sugar Man, a true story of an American musician whose two records bombed in the US in the early 1970s. Though he didn't find out for many years, he became a huge star, I mean Elvis-Beatles huge, in South Africa. Trailer here.

So you were not on the edge of your seat in Saving Private Ryan, Gettysburg with the scene of the 20th Maine on the Union Left andPickets Charge, Midway, Tora, Tora, Tora, Alive, The Memphis Belle, We Were Soldiers? Come on Beave you know how that works out too?

.

I did not know that. That makes me angry. They did not have to distort important facts such as this.
