I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)
Although it’s the same title as the original this is actually a sequel to the first three movies of that franchise. It’s a fairly good (but not great) slasher movie using the same formula as its counterparts where a group of prickly/bitchy young adults are terrorized by an unknown murdering psychopath after an incident that happened a year earlier causes the serial killer to avenge their innaction to save a young person involved in a car accident caused by members of the group. Nice seeing the likes of Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr & Sarah Michelle-Gellar make a brief return to the franchise they once appeared in. I’d recommend it to lovers of this movie franchise but be on alert that it’s basically the same old same old formula used in these types of movies. It will not win an Oscar.
It actually ignore the third movie or at the very least do not aknowledge its existance, thanksfully. It was a cheap DTV terrible movie with a bunch of unknowns. Personally i enjoyed this 2025 sequel but it has its issues. Overall its a fun decent slasher but the kills could had been gorier/bloodier, the chase sequences more nerve racking etc. Its best asset imo was the guessing game on who was the killer, but at the same time its not gonna please everyone... Overall a sequel that didn't really needed to exist but is fine... I mentioned in my review if they make another ill watch, but if they don't ...oh well.

My opinion was the entire opposite: I thought Malik was great in The Amateur (but not so great as the villain in No Time to Die - seemed miscast). In general, he's a very good actor though (I'm a huge Mr. Robot fan).

As far as the movie goes, I liked it. It showed how his revenge comes at a cost (i.e. casualties caught in the crossfire, etc.). But I also remember the ending as a little far fetched.

I'd probably give it a 8/10.
The movie was "fine" but it had terrible pacing in my opinion. Its like it was a 3h script they shortened up. At first it moves rather slowly but then it jump from scenes to scenes and i was like "wait what he already found this guy?". I also wish there was more creative ways to take out the bad guy and so on. Basically its a movie that the trailer made look like a lot better than it was. Still not a bad movie tough. Entertaining enough but could had been so much more. That said i liked Malek as the main character.

Unpopular opinion but its my favorite one. Yes 2 is a better movie and probably the best Hellraiser overall, objectively (some would say 1 tough) but personally i love Pinhead unleashed creating a carnage in LA. And its not like there is no story element to justify it (as he basically break all his rule from #2, but its explained why).

Okay, I watched 2 movies recently and I have to say, they were not the best, but kept me watching.

Weapons: Well, with a title like this, you would expect some things to be blowing up. But no, it is about some voodoo mumbo jumbo type of criteria that at times you may want to say, WTF. James Brolin is part of the cast, as the movie is broken up into different stories per character and they all become merged and in the final stages of the film brings everything into a clear and disturbing end, but not necessarily a happy one.

I will not watch this movie again.

Bring her back: An Australian film and a disturbing one. There were times that I wanted to shut it down, but I kept watching. This is a horror flick, with again some kind of rituals going on and there is some gore and some of it is disturbing. I wont get into the plot too much as you may want to get the full experience.

I did cringe a few times, but I kept watching anyway.

I will not watch this movie again.

Watching these movies recently my perspectives and viewpoints have surely changed compared to when they first came out.

Sounds like you didn't enjoy it, which is surprising. I found it pretty original, and I like how the story was told in a disjointed fashion, while coming together in the final act. Acting is pretty good too (Brolin, in particular).

My only complaint is it wasn't really scary, more like creepy. There's a lot of humour in it too (which I dont mind...if the scares are there as well.)

I'd give it like a 8.5/10 myself. Was better than Barbarian, imho (which is the from the same director).

I also really enjoyed Weapons. I agree with your statement that it was more creepy than scary. I wasn’t aware that the director was the same one as in Barbarian. By the way another one i enjoyed recently was Together.

Yes, I agree, it was creepy and I did like the way the storyline was broken up and explained to guide you, so you get the storyline. Its not that I didn't like it, its not a movie I would watch again, is all.

And yes, there was some humor, so that was a plus. I tend to turn movies off if I don't like the direction it may go in, but I watched this movie to its entirety. I guess you can say, I was curious to what the end would produce.

As is the case with "I know what you did last summer". I did not get past the scene where she doesn't know what to wear that night, I turned the movie off at that moment, bored already.

One Battle After Another. The failures of one generation and the hope of another. Paul Thomas Anderson's movies may not be for everyone, but I absolutely adore them and this one was no different. Felt like not one second was wasted. Beautifully shot and a roller coaster of a ride. If you like his movies, would absolutely recommend.

Cheers!

Funny, that one is at the top of my Want to Watch list.

Apparently the new PTA flick with Leo, ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER or something like that?, is suuuuper good so I totally want to check that out (even though I don't usually like PTA films)

I watched The Accountant 2 last night on Prime Video. It's similar to the first film but lighter in tone and gets a little more into the complicated relationship between The Accountant, played by Ben Affleck, and his hit man/assassin brother Braxton, played by Jonathan Bernthal. The two join forces to assist the Department of Treasury in an investigation into the murder of an ex Treasury Agent. It's overall an above average action film with some humor mixed in with the usual carnage. I found it to be entertaining.

"The failures of one generation ..."

Very true ... thought I was going to hate it; but ended up loving it. Highly satirical about our present-day moment. Like Alex Garland's 'Civil War,' a bit of a Rorschach Test, politically--but that's kinda deceptive, as it's ultimately about love of family.

Some other recent releases I enjoyed:

• Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro, far closer to the source novel than other adaptations)

• Die My Love (with Jennifer Lawrence, at her maddening OTT best - for the Pattinson character, imagine six months of great sex followed by a marriage of unbelievable misery)

I watched The Astronaut recently and I enjoyed it, my kind of flick. It stars Kate Mara, who gave a nice performance, as she always does. And the movie also featured Lawrence Fishburne, who I think is a great actor, so it made the movie even more enjoyable. He just adds so much more power to a movie.

The movie is about an astronaut(Kate Mara), who recently came back from a mission and has to go through some major debriefing and testing before being considered fit for future missions. A story follows and kept me interested throughout, till the end. I wont share any plot lines, I want you to get the full adventure and let the story unravel slowly for you.
Thriller/sci-fi movie.

Also watched Good Boy and I have to tell you, its not a long movie, and the star of the movie is Indy, a novia scotia duck tolling retriever who gave the performance of his lifetime, lol. Actually, he's the only actor in this movie that you actually can see. I cant wait to see him in his next adventure, great actor and oh so cute. Works well with others, takes direction very well. Up and coming future action star.
Thriller/horror and drama for sure.

I watched Night of the reaper recently and this movie I liked. The mystery, plot turns and storyline was up to par for me. The acting could of been better, with some of the actors, but as far as the main character goes, I was impressed. You need to pay attention to details and try to not miss anything.

Amusing, mysterious and some good gore scenes, it may not be the best movie I have watched, but it was entertaining and worth a viewing till the end.

One Battle After Another (2025)
Loved the movie but had to watch it in installment due do its lenght being just under three hours long. Another Oscar-worthy performance by Leonardo DiCaprio &.great performance by the underrated Sean Penn as the vilain.

Nuremberg (2025)
Loved the third version of this title. All three are very good. Best one of the three is still the original one with Spencer Tracy & Montgomery Cliff (because it was the first) and the tv movie version with Alec Baldwin is also very good. This most recent one is based on a book by the psychiatrist who analyzed the Nazi scum & is centered on his relationship with Hermann Goering, played by Russell Crowe in an Oscar-calibre performance. Rami Malek in the main role as the psychiatrist i found somewhat of a weakness in the movie however he’s an actor i never particularly liked. As a huge James Bond movie fan i’ve always felt he was also miscast (along with Lea Sedoux) in the last Bond movie & kind of ruined it. Anyways history buffs like myself will love this movie as it parallells what is going on in the United States today.

The Godfather (1972)
One of my all-time favorite classic movies that i’ve seen many times over the past five decades & since i hadn’t watched it in the past few years i decided to purchase the most recent remastered version & once again loved it! It’s funny how every time i rewatch a movie i keep noticing details i hadn’t noticed previously. Anyways ot remains Francis Ford Coppola’s #1 masterpiece & both Marlon Brando & Al Pacino (who was a rather unknown struggling actor at the time) were at the top of their acting game! The entire cast is very good & perfectly cast. So many classic memorable scenes & quotable lines! What a movie!
