One Battle After Another. The failures of one generation and the hope of another. Paul Thomas Anderson's movies may not be for everyone, but I absolutely adore them and this one was no different. Felt like not one second was wasted. Beautifully shot and a roller coaster of a ride. If you like his movies, would absolutely recommend.

"The failures of one generation ..."

Very true ... thought I was going to hate it; but ended up loving it. Highly satirical about our present-day moment. Like Alex Garland's 'Civil War,' a bit of a Rorschach Test, politically--but that's kinda deceptive, as it's ultimately about love of family.

Some other recent releases I enjoyed:

• Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro, far closer to the source novel than other adaptations)

• Die My Love (with Jennifer Lawrence, at her maddening OTT best - for the Pattinson character, imagine six months of great sex followed by a marriage of unbelievable misery)

I watched The Astronaut recently and I enjoyed it, my kind of flick. It stars Kate Mara, who gave a nice performance, as she always does. And the movie also featured Lawrence Fishburne, who I think is a great actor, so it made the movie even more enjoyable. He just adds so much more power to a movie.

The movie is about an astronaut(Kate Mara), who recently came back from a mission and has to go through some major debriefing and testing before being considered fit for future missions. A story follows and kept me interested throughout, till the end. I wont share any plot lines, I want you to get the full adventure and let the story unravel slowly for you.
Thriller/sci-fi movie.

Also watched Good Boy and I have to tell you, its not a long movie, and the star of the movie is Indy, a novia scotia duck tolling retriever who gave the performance of his lifetime, lol. Actually, he's the only actor in this movie that you actually can see. I cant wait to see him in his next adventure, great actor and oh so cute. Works well with others, takes direction very well. Up and coming future action star.
Thriller/horror and drama for sure.

I watched Night of the reaper recently and this movie I liked. The mystery, plot turns and storyline was up to par for me. The acting could of been better, with some of the actors, but as far as the main character goes, I was impressed. You need to pay attention to details and try to not miss anything.

Amusing, mysterious and some good gore scenes, it may not be the best movie I have watched, but it was entertaining and worth a viewing till the end.

Kill Bill, The Whole Bloody Affair. Awesome seeing this get a revisit, such a great movie. I could put this on a loop 24/7. And Uma was so amazing in this.

One Battle After Another (2025)
Loved the movie but had to watch it in installment due do its lenght being just under three hours long. Another Oscar-worthy performance by Leonardo DiCaprio &.great performance by the underrated Sean Penn as the vilain.

Nuremberg (2025)
Loved the third version of this title. All three are very good. Best one of the three is still the original one with Spencer Tracy & Montgomery Cliff (because it was the first) and the tv movie version with Alec Baldwin is also very good. This most recent one is based on a book by the psychiatrist who analyzed the Nazi scum & is centered on his relationship with Hermann Goering, played by Russell Crowe in an Oscar-calibre performance. Rami Malek in the main role as the psychiatrist i found somewhat of a weakness in the movie however he’s an actor i never particularly liked. As a huge James Bond movie fan i’ve always felt he was also miscast (along with Lea Sedoux) in the last Bond movie & kind of ruined it. Anyways history buffs like myself will love this movie as it parallells what is going on in the United States today.

The Godfather (1972)
One of my all-time favorite classic movies that i’ve seen many times over the past five decades & since i hadn’t watched it in the past few years i decided to purchase the most recent remastered version & once again loved it! It’s funny how every time i rewatch a movie i keep noticing details i hadn’t noticed previously. Anyways ot remains Francis Ford Coppola’s #1 masterpiece & both Marlon Brando & Al Pacino (who was a rather unknown struggling actor at the time) were at the top of their acting game! The entire cast is very good & perfectly cast. So many classic memorable scenes & quotable lines! What a movie!

It is. I read an article about it yesterday where Tarentino was interviewed & he stated that this is the epic movie he wanted released all along were it not for the studio (Harvey Weinstein in particular) insisting that the movie Tarantino be cut into two movies & scenes deleted in order to be able to sell it commercially. They felt only having one big & long epic movie would have scared away audiences. Now with this new theatrical release it’s now only 1 movie (both movies into one) with added deleted scenes including added animated scenes. From what i read there is an intermission at the halfway point of the movie for moviegoers to be able to take a well-needed bathroom & refreshments break.

I enjoyed it, though I think I've become accustomed to the Crazy 88's fight scene being in black in white. Oddly, I thought I would prefer it in color when the movie originally came out, always felt there was a tonal change with switching between color and black and white. The animated sequence is ok. Also, I could do without the intermission.

Tarantino made it in b&w in order to trick the censors from ordering him to cut & remove that scene from the movie. He mentioned that had he kept the scene in color it would have made it appear way too bloody & never would have stood a chance to survive the movie.
