What is your best reference for selecting an SP

I am sure this has been discussed before but perhaps it is a good idea to update it every now and then.

Merb is certainly a good place to start as there are many reputable indies and agencies that advertise here and you can find reviews to help make your selection.
There are others that I find helpful like Tryst Link, SPDIR,
I find Humpchies, Leolist, Announce Intime are full of scam artists and you really have to know what your are doing to navigate them and I personally don’t use them. It helps if you are a local because there are certain areas of Montreal I would not venture into especially late at night.

Twitter has become very popular with SP and you can get a good feel of their personality and there are usually videos and photographs that you will not find on their web pages and even some of the agency ladies have their own Twitter and some of them you will be surprised actually receive outside of the agency on some days as indies.

There is one other that most people don’t think of and I have used several times and have never gone wrong with it.
Most of the SP if you are looking for something specific that they don’t offer or don’t like doing will be more than happy to refer you to one of their friends who they know is good at what you are looking for and actually may even enjoy it.
They will even go to the length of writing to their friend to let them know that you can be trusted and when you actually meet they are much more at ease knowing that you have been seeing one of their friends and she thinks you are a nice person.

I admit I'm not big on Twitter, but isn't it really tedious to see your options? you have to go to one twitter page to another one and to another one, creating an endless web?
is there an efficient way to go through this?
i assume its better to check it out than not.

EDIT: i guess its no different than going through so many ad websites.

I just ask the bookers. It’s a whole lot easier.

Word of mouth ( MERB ) is best. You can never trust picture in ads and of course the SP will always say they are the best.

Knowing and trusting the well respected agency owners and bookers is a great help.
Being a VIP customer is even better....but it takes time to develop that type of relationship.
The girls talk among themselves so if they like you and tell their friends and the driver, that`s a golden ticket to a good time.
I like to follow girls that attract me , on twitter and have learnt a lot about the popular girls, both indie and agency, that way.
I`ve seen many and they make for good references. Having good and helpful friends on Merb is also a good thing.
I don`t write many reviews anymore but those I write about....well for me at least they are the best of the best.

Now I mostly trust my instinct when I look at ads or reviews, I'm rarely wrong!

knowing how to do "homework" is an art in itself. Doing my own due diligence was the only sure way for me to cope with my experiences.
if it went well, then I know I did my homework well
if it went poorly, then I know to only blame myself and not the community.

overtime, it does become harder to do good homework due to the new untrustworthy members (no offense to the newcomers, but the standards are NOT the same anymore). I mostly refer to my known contacts for recommendations.

That hasn’t worked for ages I don’t know why they still advertise it.
If clients can’t access it, it is totally useless.

I still am and always will be a sucker for pretty pictures, especially pretty face pictures. If I see a gorgeous girl in Montreal or anywhere and I do not see RIP OFF in their TER thread or an entire string of bad reviews, I'll book them. I've been stung by this a few times but that's the risk we take when we follow our hearts and erections. After awhile, you'll make friends through back channels. If you have eyes and ears in country you are way ahead of the game. There are members of this board, past and present, who are responsible for more than one of my many thrills. Of course I try to read reviews and I look for patterns. Montreal agency owners and the good bookers will help. Having a report with these people is a must. Try to attend parties and GTs when they happen. Meet the girls and see if there is chemistry, meet the agency owners and get an idea if this is someone that you want to do business with, and connect with like minded hobbyists and start to build bonds that will last you a lifetime.

When I go to Germany I contact people on ISG and I ask which is the hot FKK. I still go to my old stomping grounds but if I'm not happy, or if I have more time I'll head over to that FKK. In Brazil, I'll do the same. I don't care as much because everything is so reasonable. I will TOFTT.

One thing is important: You've got to give to receive. I go out of my way to write reviews, answer PMs and questions in forums, etc. A couple of times, I've bumped into fellow hobbyists that have bought me a beer to thank me because a particular review I wrote was helpful to them. It may sound corny but that was kind of nice to be appreciated. The last guy to buy me a beer was a guy I met at Sharks. He said you know how many people read those things and do not write? I encouraged him to write a review and he did.

I am in the same camp mindset as Cloudsurf. I have my go to Agencies, I know the bookers over years of dealing with them and have built up a good rapport. I am always courteous and respectful with the bookers and SPs.
I look at reviews and more importantly who is writing the review. Is it a new member with one post, an active member, a member who always gives these glowing long reviews....you get the idea. In the end though, as most long time hobbyists would agree, there are no guarantees . An SP can have great pics, consistently good reviews, recommendations, you name it and it just doesn't click. Its a bit of crap shoot and some newer hobbyists are looking for some money back guarantee of an off the top amazing experience.
I set my expectations at a realistic level and I will always take an SP that I hit off with that is average looking over a bombshell that is going through the motions. In the end though you just have to dive in.....and those standard 3 knocks at the door when the SP arrives for the first time, are still full of anticipation all these years later .
